I have been reading through the DIY section because I am studying making my own juices. Why is it that nobody seems to be using actual lab glassware? It would seem to me that a graduated pipette would be perfect for DIY measurements.
Glassware breaks. We are not using such small or large amounts that require glass. The 1ml plastic bulb pipettes measure to .1ml. I don't see the need for lab equipment in the home for this hobby. I thought of buying a magnetic mixing platform until I got this little drink mixer at the dollar store. A sonic cleaner for mixing would be nice.

I'm going to get some Miniwax polyurethane. I knew lacquer nail polish wouldn't work. I have to wonder if dannyv45 is using a non-lacquer clear nail polish. I wonder if a cyanoacrylate(form of superglue) clear would work? BTW, epoxys won't won't work well. I used a polypropylene beaker to mix them in and it peals out very nicely for cleanup.

Also had nail polish flake off and drop in the juice being mixing; posted a cautionary thread a few months back. Don't want to repeat that experience; trashed a handful and switched to tape. Tape is far from perfect but seems to last ~life of syringe. But generally wash and dry (rather than soak).

Seems that "nail polish" does not work -- we now have multiple reports of flaking. Meanwhile, certain brands and types are successful. Perhaps posters could also share this information?

Interested in the poly. Also purchased gram scale but too many security concerns to install software. Looking for web-based calculator that allows/includes weights. Would appreciate if anybody knows of such a beast.

What is wrong with a little clear tape to prolong their usage ? Cheap and real easy

That's what I use - clear packing tape (good quality, not the cheap stuff). It's waterproof and will not come off. It's very durable, too - I've had a metal-edged clear ruler that's seen A LOT of cutting over the past 10 years and it still looks brand new.
