Hey all,

First let me preface this by saying that I am well aware that threads exist on this forum for all of the aforementioned atomizers. What I'm looking for is a head to head comparison of these four particular second-generation atomizers.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, for the sake of accuracy, I would kindly ask that all further comments relate only to the AUTHENTIC versions of these atomizers. I'm well aware that clones exist, are readily available at much cheaper price points, and often times exceed the value and performance of their corresponding authentic pieces. I AM NOT against clones. I simply feel that adding clones into this discussion would "muddy the waters," a bit much and detract from the singular purpose of this thread.

With the recent arrival of second generation updates to four of the most popular tank atomizers on the planet, I find myself in a quandary; one in which I am sure I'm not alone. Like most vapers, I vape on a budget. I would really like to purchase one of these 2nd-gen tanks, but my current budget constraints mean I can only afford to buy one.

So, lets hear it. Anyone out their own more than one of these atomizers? If so, which one do you prefer, and why? Lets get it all out there. Forget about the rest of the market. What's the tank to own between these four and why?

I havent tried the KF4, so no comment. I dont own a Square R, but a friend does -- I liked it the time I vape on it for a minute. I do own an Aqua V2 and can comment.

- airflow control is as simple as it gets. just screw the tank up or down. this also activates the juice control. nearly 3mm airhole, which is good enough for me.
- generally a juicy/warm taste, but entirely dependent on build/wicking.
- the posts are bit wonky and delicate, but overall it's as durable as any stainless device. I havent used the plastic tank, so no comment on that.
- I prefer minimalist design. the aqua v2 fits. and brushed matte finish on the tank is flawless and polished bits provide a welcomed contrast.
- I believe the height is 46mm or so and holds 4ml. I definitely prefer as small as possible while holding at least 3ml.
- single or dual coil options both work well. the offset post is genius and the multiple holes will allow a wide range of easy coil options. I might try a vertical build, soon. and easy access to the build without dumping the tank -- just unscrew the tank off. the easy dripper conversion is pretty cool too. I'd say the dripper is average, but it's nice to have on hand. the offset driptip seems to block spitback.
- closing the tank entirely and then opening up the tank rightside-up causes flooding. In order to prevent this, open the tank upside down. not necessarily a problem, but something to remember. also, a syringe or needle bottle is basically required to fill.

edit: it's possible to fill without a syringe/needle bottle if you were to unscrew the chimney piece from the tank and fill to the top of the upper driptip holder piece similar to how the big dripper is filled. this might be useful if you're caught somewhere with only a juice bottle.

From what I'm seeing so far, the kf4 and TGTII are not much different vape wise from the previous versions. I am waiting for more feedback on those or I will pick up clones first once decent ones are available to find out if I want authentics.

I do have an authentic SquapeR. Airflow is very adjustable, and easy to do with the ring on the outside. Flavor is one of the best of the many RTAs I have/had. Extremely easy to build. Hard to fill without a needle tip bottle.

I'm waiting for my "authentic/OEM/clone/whatever it is" Aquav2 from FT. Initial reports sound great.

If flavor is what your after and don't mind a finicky build, also consider the Rosev2. My favorite so far.

Most people haven't heard of it, its not very well known about on the forum or youtube in general. I don't think the smokerstore website did much advertising for it except for facebook.

OP, I would say you left the erlkonigin out of that comparison mix. I've owned the kayfun lite plus v2, the erlkonigin, I currently own the Squape Reloaded and have a Taifun GTII on the way. I also own an aqua v1 clone, but I'll leave that out.

I'll speak to the Kayfun lite + at least. Had terrible luck with it, couldn't get it to wick or stop leaking. Good flavor when it worked, but was limited to about 13 watts on my P3. Draw was way too tight for my preference. Price has come down on the V2 since the release of the K4. I sold that one

Erlkonigin: When it worked right, I could taste the seeds in my strawberry e juice. Fantastic flavor and the nic knocked me on my ..... One of the loudest atomizers I've ever owned, had a decent draw, but the airflow control was a pain. The fill method was a breeze, and it looks real nice, but is a 21mm mod. It's very popular with Wizard Evolved owners. But I had extreme dry hit and leaking issues with it, and sold that one too. Came to about $186, and IBTanked makes inexpensive glass tubes for it. Fairly easy to acquire, but have to buy it overseas for the most part.

Squape Reloaded: I was EXTREMELY optimistic about this. I was waiting for the November batch to release for a couple months and scored one from vaperev. Got the wide deck too. Really really like the airflow and the looks, and had better luck with this than either the erlkonigin or kayfun lite+, but I get plagued with dry hits on that one, and gurgling when the AFC is wide open. I'm planning on trading it for a Kayfun 4 or Vaporflask DNA 40 depending on how things go. $170 for the Squape, $20 bucks extra for the different decks.

Maybe I just suck at building RTA's, I don't know. I use thicker juice, so that's a limitation for sure.

Taifun GTII: Haven't recieved it yet. I'm very optimistic about it because the principle it operates on is identical to clearomizers. The Taifun has no channels for the juice to travel up, and the wicks are constantly exposed to e juice. It has a very nice look to it and most, if not all parts are backwards compatible with the original GT. From what I read, it has the most open draw of all the named atomizers, being a 4mm draw at max based on what I've been reading. The AFC is unique, because it has I think 6 air holes on either side, but they're staggered, so you can have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, or 12 holes opened at once. The adjustability is great. Not a ton of changes over the original GT, but it has a glass tank, adjustable juice flow and adjustable airflow, but all the principles are the same. It works well with mesh too. It is a 23mm device, and won't sit totally flush on many mods out there, but should come close for the P3 at least, and look killer on box mods. I'm VERY optimistic about this one. It's not easy to get ahold of, and you'll be ordering from overseas. When it initially released, it sold out in minutes, and I was fortunate enough to snag one. $206 with the nano kit.

Kayfun 4: Lots and lots of parts. My friend just got his, and I'll be comparing it side by side to the GTII. From what I've read in the K4 thread, the wicking is foolproof and works extremely well. Updated looks are getting mixed feelings, but it comes with steel, plastic and glass tanks. From what my friend has told me, the draw on max is close to the second or third largest option on the Squape-R. You can get a subohm kit for the K4 to open it up a little more, but you lose adjustability. Has juice flow control, and makes the filling process easier, but it is a process that has to be done correctly. Has a lot of moving parts to figure out, but is available with the P3 connector and others. $180 or so from vaperev, some stores overseas are cheaper, but shipping gets you for the remainder of the cost usually.

Aqua V2. Haven't done any research on it. The original has good flavor, terrible capacity and is a pain to coil. Wicking isn't so bad. Airflow control works well, juice flow control can be a pain to adjust. Not a setup that could very easily be paired with a pyrex window, unsure about the V2

I've been vaping on the Taifun GT 2 for several days now and I absolutely love it. Flavor is exactly the same as the original but having the ability to change air flow on demand is the most substantial change for this new version. It's almost fool proof in terms of building and it doesn't appear as complicated as, say, the Kayfun V4 because it doesn't have too many parts. Now, I haven't tried the KF V4 but I'm sure that is also a great atty. My two cents... Here's a little pix for ya...

I absolutely love my Rosev2 with Stumpy. Looks wise.. it's a work of art in my opinion. I just wish it had more airflow. It could be altered to allow more air, but it would take a dremmel and a lot more work than I'd care for. Also.. I really really want to use my own drip tips. I pay $30 for drip tips for a reason.

I do love my TGT1, which I've drilled out to 7/64 and installed a ceramic disc to reduce the chamber size amongst other things. It can, however, be a pain to wick on occasion. Also, it looks ridiculous without a nano kit on it. And the nano kit reduces liquid capacity to below "leave the house," levels.

I purposely left out the KFL+ and Erkl as I don't feel they qualify as "Second Generation," atomizers. They lack the necessary airflow/wicking capabilities to keep up with any type of vaping I'm interested in

I do appreciate the info on the TGT2.. Right now, I'm leaning towards either a TGT2 w/ Nano or a KF4 with SubOhm kit.

Anybody else that can chime in?

Great thread. I recently bought a Tobeco Aqua V2 after reading a few threads. Would love to know how these newer tanks compare to each other; especially interested in input from Orchid users, as thats what I'm used to, and I'm not really willing to take a step backwards in the vapor production area.

You should maybe throw the Lemo in the mix as well.

Ive had my kayfun v4 since thurday and I'm loving it. Amazing machining quality, changed over the the glass tank with no problem.
Slight learning curve with adjusting how you build in comparison to previous kayfuns (mainly wick, the cylinder around deck isn't as deep, so i used less cotton). Remember which way is open or closed for the liquid flow control can be a pain to keep straight at first, but in time it'll be like nothing. Adjusting airflow isn't the most friendly to do as you have to take out the 510 pin on botton to get it, but in all honesty what it was set to when I got it works great for me. The ability to check or rework a build without draining is awesome and the top fill ability... drool.

Flavor has been amazing as well. airflow is great (so much better than kayfuns before). stock drip tip is nice too. I'm vaping at around 13 watts and it is working like a champ. No complaints at all over here. Chain vapes pretty well too.

My buddy has been chain vaping it at 20 watts no sweat. I'm pretty jealous. My Taifun GT2 should be arriving today, so I'm pretty excited! Also have an Infinite Magma showing up today too. Great day for vape mail!

It has been a fantastic day for vape mail. Got my GTII and my magma.



What a beaut! Taifun is a 23mm mod, and I wrapped up a single 29 gauge micro coil, 6 wraps for 1.5 ohms. Didn't bother taking pix of the build, but I certainly can later on if anyone is interested. I was surprised that my serial number is 00866, given that the GTII's sold out in about 10 minutes when they first came out. My guess is that they built 1000 units. 1000 units is madness to sell out that fast.

At first glance, it looks real nice and flush, which is nice because the P3 is something funky like 22.8 mm in diameter, and the Taifun is 23mm. It just slightly hangs over the side, but you really have to be up close to really notice. Vaping it at 18 watts and its heaven. No leaking whatsoever thus far, and all future GT2 owners should be warned that if you experience any gurgling with the GTII, you will instantly be leaking. If you look at pictures of the interior, you'll understand why. Building was very easy, and the juice flow adjustment is a cinch. The way I adjusted it was to put the chimney cap on while the wicks were dry, and adjust it to where I thought it needed to be. Then I juiced the tails and peered inside the chimney to see if juice was moving. Juice wasn't getting to the inside, so I loosened it up a bit and it started moving. Put it all together and started vaping and it's awesome.

The vaping experience is fantastic. It has a very smooth draw, but not quite as open as I was expecting. Far more open than any others I've tried, with the Squape being the closest. I can't decide if the Squape Reloaded has a more open draw or not, but whenever I had the Squape wide open, I noticed some gurgling, which was really annoying. That and the dry hits. Flavor is top notch, and I can taste my Velvet cloud Vanilla Swirl very very nicely. The coils are sitting just a touch below where the channels run, so you can see the top 3/4 (maybe more) of the coil when you look down the channels. I was worried this would cause leaking but none so far. I cranked it up to 20 watts and just about over nic'd myself (got a little queasy) but I noticed a slight amount of hissing after the draw, indicating the onset of a dry hit. I opened it back up and loosened the juice flow a bit and it improved. That said, my current sweet spot is 18 watts and its having zero trouble keeping up.

I'm going to give it a couple days at home before I decide to take it out and about. Given my troublesome history with the erlkonigin, squape and old kayfun, I'm not going to be at work stranded with a bad vape. Either that or i'll just bring my reo with me as a backup.

Taifun GTII is awesome!

Edit: I'm certain the wicking is better on this because both wicks are constantly exposed to the juice, like a clearomizer. I'm really only getting bubbles out of one side, but that doesn't matter because I know juice is still coming through both sides. With atty's that have a channel like the kayfun, squape, erlkonigin and aqua, there is a much greater chance that one side won't wick, and that was always my barrier

I spent the whole weekend screwing around with a new RDA for the Reo. And I've got a magma today that belongs to a friend and keeps intermittingly shorting for her. I can't get it to act up for me. Its her coil still in it. Its conducting fine and I've had it on 4 mods now. I just know if I send it back too early, it will act up on her again. Its one of Murphy's Laws, I'm sure.

Might be the mod not making contact on the 510. I'd love a bf magma, might not be too hard to accomplish. I have a bf trident v2 that quigsworth modified for me that is a real keeper

Amen to that. I'm glad my optimism for the gt2 wasnt misguided, because I'm loving it. I'm actually gonna take it to work tomorrow with no backup and keep my fingers crossed. The issues with the erlkonigin, kayfun and squape always happened at with. My kayfun tank completely unscrewed from the base one time and dumped all 4 mls of juice into my pocket. Not a great day

Chowderhead can sell you a bf magma :)

Yeah, I don't know what to make of my friend's. 510 pin is tight, posts are tight, resistance is steady as a rock. She was trying to use it on a Hana. The magma has an extremely long 510 so it should be connecting. Her other magma runs fine on that Hana.

I've had it on my ipv1, Sigelei100, ZNA and even the istick.
