No need to go quite that high of the insulator blocks but what the hell, run with it.......

Yeah that looks ok. I find mine sometimes have the tendency to lower a little bit over time too. Make sure the screws are tight and the ohms shouldnt move around anymore

I can tell two more things off the bat here. First, you should juice the wick and set it to the insulator block before you install the chimney barrel. Second, you have already blocked your air channels.

It is always best to fire the unit before and after installing the chimney as well. ( As long as you have juiced the wick prior to doing so of course.)

Not necessarily. I never juice the wick before I poke them down. I poke them down, then I juice them and move them with the tiny screwdriver. Mine look like that but sit right at the base. I think you can have cotton over them, just not blocking them, if that makes sense.

I used toothpicks, it's not blocking the air hole at present - yet

I do prefer wicking the other way (pre-chimney) but I'll give this a shot

Are you planning on further adjustment with the tooth picks once you juice the wick? Remember that cotton swells once it is wet!

probably blocking now lol should;ve left the picks in until i wetted. I really don't like this method much, I'm considering ditching this wick and trying the other way. should i give this wick a shot?

Its hard to tell if your wick is making proper contact to the floor of the base when doing it this way.

If he snipped the cotton right above the chimney, then it should be making contact. And if the cotton is somewhat separated and loose down there, it wont block the channels

Agreed, but you should be able to clearly see the top of the vertical channels on both sides when looking down the chimney barrel.

Tomato, Tamatoe, I always prefer wetting and setting the wick before the installation of the barrel.

Totally a tomato tamatoe deal here. Both ways will work. In this game, we should all roll with what works for us. But in Sloths case, nothing is workin yet lol. We're close though
