Hello, I just received my first KGO kit, and the instructions say to charge the battery for the first time for 8 hours, even if the light turns green. I plugged it in, and the light turned green in about 10 minutes! With all of the latest warnings about overcharging batteries and not leaving them in after they turn green, is this necessary for the first charge?? The instructions then go on to say after 8 hours, use it for 20 minutes, then charge again for one more hour, then it's "ready to use". So I'm confused, would like some clarification.........TIA.

I have orderd 2 KGO starter kits. About a week apart. The first kit, I followed the instructions to the T. When the second kit arrived, only one of the two batteries went through the 8 hour/20min/1 hour charge ritual. The 4th battery was put on the charger for just a brief time until the light turned green (less than an hour) and it was put into use. I did not see a difference with the last one VS the other 3 that went through the long process. All 4 batteries are performing exactly the same, so that's just my :2c: and what I have noticed using my KGO batteries.

I would guess that you do. Contact the seller, I wouldn't use it. It shouldn't get hot at all as far as I know.
Question for a beginner kgo user -- how hot does the battery get during charging? Mine are getting remarkably hot with no green light in sight. The one I just took off the charger to check was at 4.3v. Could I have a bad charging dongle?

Hot or not, it shouldn't be 4.3V. It is definitely over charging, unless you have a bad meter. It shouldn't go above 4.20-4.23. First charge usually is less, somewhere like 4.17
That's why they tell you to use 20 mins. and charge again. Lithium batteries don't reach full capacity for the first charge or two.
