I got mine yesterday too. I've used three different button top batts with no problem. Looking at the design, I can't imagine it not working with either button top or flat top.
Are you sure your polarity is right? The battery button goes to the side opposite the blue cube. The blue cube side points on up to make contact with the 510 center pin.

After trying numerous tries I had given up, thinking it just didn't work with the nipple tops. I finally tried one more time and what do you know...it worked. I think the reduced contact area makes for a pickier connection, and the location of the seam for the Bolt is so that the kick doesn't sit down in the tube and won't fit in the top cap so it just sort of balances there until you get it screwed together.

Whats the least amout of ohms our setup need to be to use the kick? I heard no lower than 1.6ohms..

I'm running mine with 1.2 & 1.3 Ω coils without a hitch.....but they don't seem to like anything less than that. I tried a 1.0 Ω and it wouldn't fire. YMMV

Just got one.

Refused to work in a Sig 20 without some serious faffing about, the overall diameter is literally a hair too small therefore the brass pin won't make contact with the body - quick fix is a tiny piece of folded paper on the opposite side of the pin, this helps to make contact with the wall of the tube.
I may put a tiny amount of solder onto the pin and sand it back until the kick fits tightly enough to make correct contact, considering that another $20 will get you the real thing I think that all the messing doesn't justify the savings.
It's working immaculately now, listening to it leads me to believe that it's working at 33.3hz PWM - the real kick outputs a nice flat signal.

Fail for me.:glare:

I have one more thing I'd like to add. I can confirm that unlike the real kick, the clone has reverse battery protection. If you put the battery or the kick in upside down the device won't fire. If you readjust and put everything in the right way all is well. Your Kick clone will fire. If you do this with the real kick you will fry your kick. I have killed a Kick by Evolv this way.

The SMOKtech Kick is Boosted Power Regulation in the form of a drop in module designed to be used in various tube devices with IMR batteries.
The Kick is designed to be used in 18650 sized metal tube devices (max 19.5 mm internal diameter) using an 18490 or 18500 IMR battery.
It can also be used in 18500 sized tube devices (max 19.5 mm internal diameter) with an IMR 18350 battery.

Sigelei Kick came in the mail today from vaportekusa and working great on the Sigelei #20 and #24 (tight fit). Vaping at 10w and work with both flat top or button top imr battery.

Do anyone have the smoktech brand and know if the diameter is smaller?
SMOKtech Kick Clone Power Boost Regulator - 5W - 12W [gv-SMOKtechKick] - $29.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

If its too tight, just use a small file or sandpaper & take it down a fraction....but don't overdo it - it only takes a few light swipes - it should be a fairly tight fit. Be very careful with the little gold button sticking out the side - that's your ground. If it doesn't make firm contact with the side of your MOD, it won't work.
