I've been told some things and read some others...and I can't find enough to read to answer my questions! What the hell is a "kick"?! Is it a one time use sort of fuse? I've seen some that are reusable and regulate voltage? I want to regulate voltage in my atmomixani 69, I'm brand new to mechs and this is confusing. I'm not a guy with much understanding when it comes to electronics, lol. I'm not interested in a "fuse", I just want the same voltage output throughout vaping, I understood that with mechs the performance starts out at 4.2 volts and goes down, it just sucks when it gets down to 3.8 volts or so. I have to carry 3 18650's with me! Another thing, can sub ohm coils be used with a kick or similar product? I'm using an RSST wrapped at .8 ohms. What kind of "kicks" are there, are there different brands, which brand is best for what?

Well thanks guys...I hate being told something by someone who is normally right and have it be wrong! So the $15ish things I've seen must be 2 cent fuses...

Probably, but there is one site that is offering the clone of the Kick for $15. It's supposed to do exactly what the kick does, but intead of being made by Evolv and costing $45, it's being make by a Chinese company call Sigelie.

sigelei already took me for a crappy mechanical, I'll never buy from them again! Well worth the $190 for my Atmomixani 69! Is it true that you can't use sub ohm coils with a kick? Not a big deal, I could get by just fine with a 1.3 ohm coil at 4 volts...a consistent 4 volts!

4V at 1.3ohms is 12.3 watts. The Kick has a 10 watt limit.

From what I heard, using a kick will actually cut your battery life in half. Also in my opinion, it makes no sense using a kick on a mechanical. Most people use mechanicals vs vv/vw mods due to it being unregulated. It defeats the purpose of using sub-ohm set-ups with it's 10w limit. Also with the cost of a kick $45-$50, you might as well throw in an extra $20-$30 and get a Zmax Telescope or a Tmax box mod. Plus the fact the most mechanicals need an add-on in order to use a 18650, you'll end up spending even more. This is just my opinion, I'm pretty sure there are people that like using a kick.

Some people (including myself) like the look of a mechanical mod, but want the vape that a regulated mod gives you. I personally don't use rebuildables. I have a couple, but don't like to fiddle that much. I've gotten a few good wick and coil setups and it was a great vape, but to me it wasn't so good that I'm gonna through out my cartos. There's also the fact that rebuildables aren't what you would call portable. They leak like a siv. I like to take my mechs with me when I leave the house and not worry about a juice catastrophe.

Im with you double aa ron. The mechanicals look the best. But i have to use a kick most the time to make things happen the best. Im happy to do that until they come out with some stunning VW stuff. But if it cost too much ill keep my kick and mechanicals. Its about having options too. With without. Long or short. Big or cute and all that. Even using 18350 in a regulated cute thing the batteries last like 2 hrs for me. Meaning the battery life isnt the priority. I do have multiple mods and extra batteries. I wont need replacing them for a long time because i switch around what im using at the moment. When you go to work all day its not an easy thing to do. So not for everyody. Im a real eroll fan. Id have a dozen set up for work. Thats all there is to it. And vape my beautiful beasties at home.

Oh. I definitely have a vamo too! Getting the vv/vw by innokin with the framed led window. Similar button functions like vamo. My back up to my only regulated mod ( except little vv egos ) MY mod has the screw cap so all i have to do is unscrew the cap to get to the kick and so the kick stays in place. Great feature. (motar v5) but others do that. However i do need to test it with with the battery passthru dealy bob wich means i have to take the atty off screw in the battery volt thing and attach the atty and fire it up to read what the out put is at. Generally i keep it at 4.2. Becauseof that. That works for 1.7 thru 2.4 ohm nicely and the benefit i enjoy other than the kick in voltage i want is it maintains that output til it stutters and stops....time to change battery. Im sure its already been mentioned the frustration with weakening output.

Nope! :)

I run 2250 mah 18650 pannies in my Sigelei #8 and I use pretty much RBAs (AGA-T2s) and RDAs (a bunch) on it coiled for 0.9 to 1.1 ohms. After a bit of a power hit, from a really fresh battery, this "sweet spot" in resistance provides a pretty much even vape all day long. When it starts getting a bit weak I know it's time to toss that bat back on the charger. Testing them in my Vamo always says the same thing... 3.6-3.8 volts.

I tried a 0.6 ohm dual coil dripper once and while the vape was nice, at the right battery voltage, it was either too hot or too cold the rest of the time. 0.9-1.1 seems "Jussssst RIGHT" :D

My Sigelei #8 and an AGA-T2 is my preferred "out and about" device now. AND I leave the "fill hole" screw out of it. Just lock the fire button and slip it in my pocket. Never a leak. Not a drop. I mostly vape 50/50 or even stronger VG though... maybe really watery juices can be a problem?

10w is too low for much below 1.2 ohms and the adjustment on a kick means taking the mech apart to adjust it differently.

Before I bought my first mech I went through this same quandry... Here is seven pages of discussion on the topic. I decided to use my vamo for tanks and carts and skip the kick on the mech.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...who-honestly-prefers-vape-un-kicked-mech.html

I love the look and the battery life of my Bam and Bombshell Stinger. I only use low resistance boges on them in a tank so I never have to mess with the setting on my Kick. I have a vamo and a provari, but almost never use them anymore. I much prefer the look and the battery life of my Bam and Bombshell.

There's also the added bonus that if the kick craps out you still have a working mod. A 1.5 ohm atty at 3.7 volts is still a good vape. If a vamo, zmax, provari, or any other vv/vw apv dies on you, you are out of luck.

I've only taken a rba to work with me once. I ended up with more juice in my back pocket than I had vaped. Didn't work for me.

Well... I never said I could sit on it ;)

Usually I slip it into one of my front pockets. I can even drive with it there, which is more or less laying on it's side. Colder weather I carry it in an inside coat pocket.

Good point on still having a working mod when everything else goes wrong! That's the *key* reason I decided to get a mech. If IT breaks I'm probably in the hospital... or worse! If I'm not I can probably get it at least working again with spare nuts and bolts. I love my Vamo... I hate worrying about that circuit board failing or whatever when I don't have a back up handy.
