Kicked Out

One of the reasons I wanted to quit smoking was because there was no where to do it anymore. Most of the people I hung out with had either quit or never started. One of the main attractions of e-cigs was supposedly being able to use it anywhere. Well that has certainly changed in a very short time. Our city just passed a ban on e-cigs anywhere regular smoking is banned. So once again I am relegated to find some lonely corner or spot where I can vape unfettered. No matter how safe they may prove to be, I fear we will not be able to reverse these restrictions.

Sadly, I think that once again the sins of the few affect the many. In chatting with several managers during my last vacation, there were lots of reasons I heard...

"Well, not on the plane, because people in the back think the plane is on fire..."
The old stand by "we have a guest who is allergic to the smell"...(yea, right)
"Some people get upset because we don't seem to be stopping someone from SMOKING...they don't listen that it's VAPOR, and it bothers them"
And the steward on our cruise said that "spilled e-liquid stains the sheets and linens"...he also said that they at one time had a group if very YOUNG vapers who were "blowing smoke" in other guests faces, and generally being obnoxious...which is why vapers had to go to the SMOKING AREA and be around analog smokers!

I cannot stress enough to always be courteous with your vaping...or at least VERY stealthy! I didn't vape on the plane (cough)....but SWIM (Someone Who Isn't Me) did...and I...I mean SHE had her vape gear in her sleeve, took a long inhale, and held it until the vapor didn't show on exhale...or exhaled into the pillow I was...I mean SHE was leaning on... That I was a flower child that "didn't inhale" in the 60s helped me learn to be VERY, VERY STEALTHY...and I highly recommend gray hair as part of any disguise while attempting stealth vaping!

I think there are certain people who use the "I can smoke anywhere because I'm not smoking" excuse and want to flex their ability to get away with it. Me personally I think that gives vaping a bad image. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with using your right to vape, but when someone is offended by a vaper they look down on the whole bunch of us. Just my opinion.

I won't vape anywhere I wouldn't smoke (except for my own home). It is just common sense to me. I do vape in my house and I never smoked in it (we have parrots and other pets), but our roommie can smell it. He thinks it smells funny and way to sweet. So, out of respect for him, we put an exhaust fan in the window and blow our vape clouds towards it. Solved the problem here, but I still think it's not ok to vape around people who are no allowed to smoke where ever you happen to be. Just my .02

Hi,
I am a total newbie to this site (today in fact) and pretty new to vaping (a few months). Here in the UK in London I rarely notice people vaping outdoors in public let alone indoors anywhere public!! How is it in the US do many vape in the streets even?!

I think when folk were vaping look alikes people thought it funny and kinda acceptable especially non smokers who felt you were doing what you could to give up smoking. Now they find it hard dealing with all the fantastical machines. In a way it is a shame look alikes ever existed because I think it made others connect it all with smoking. Had it started with the vaping gear seen today maybe the connection would not have been so strong and perhaps more acceptable. I don't know just a thought? Had to start somewhere I guess though.

More and more public places in the UK do not allow vaping either. Shame people are so quick to judge and as many have said the bad publicity all done in the name of informing the gullible public does not help!

Let us all carry on vaping discreetly if needs must and enjoy. Don't let others ruin your day and when possible educate.

By the way I love these forums! I love all the kit and when I get to save any monies if ever with all the fantastic amazing gear out there who knows. At least it is giving me better health for sure and that is far more precious! Thanks everyone.

Amazed would have thought in the US there may be more vaping in the streets. Don't know why I should think this but always assumed vaping was really big over there. or are you just pulling my leg?!

Nope. I have never seen anyone vaping in the US. Of course I live in the suburbs, rather than in a proper city, but still, you'd think I would have seen one in the wild by now. You know where I have seen lots and lots of vapers? Prague. Vapers are everywhere there...

by doing business with this establishment i do not automatically give up all my rights as i walk through that door which is open to the public. you obviously do not have the mental capacity to distinguish between an elrctronic item or a smoking item therefore i am afraid of serious brain malfunction causing you to trip and fall on me and cause injury. or mistake an oven for a sink and cause other strange associations and delusional behavior so i will leave.

I don't consider the open areas of a mall an enclosed space. As long as you're not blowing huge clouds while actually standing still next to a family, there's no way it's a danger to anyone's kids. I always thought it was a crock of .... that they even banned smoking in the big open spaces of malls.

best regards, larry mac

Malls used to reek of stale cigarette odor. I even noticed it when I smoked 2 PAD. Vaping profusely wouldn't begin to create that kind of stench, especially if you look at the national estimates of those who still smoke vs the numbers who vape.
