Ok, so the other thread was locked. I have what I think is a simple question.
Finally am canceling cable tv. Hulu NOW offers live, local tv, along with all it's other great shows and movies for about $50, and can be used on 2 tvs.
The cable company will NOT shut off my cable UNTIL I return their precious box, even though all they have to do is hit a switch from their office. I have been with them for about 40 years. Go figure!
Anyway, I need to figure out how to move the wires from cable box to back of tv? I'm speaking of speaker plugs and any other thing that might be in back of cable box. Do I need to bring in a repairman?
Thanks ahead of time for any help!!!!
Please keep it simple. Already have the Fire Stick, and HULU Live is already going. Just need to disonnect cable box and need to know where to put the plugs.

You may find returning that “precious” box to be extremely difficult as well. I had a similar problem and I had to hand carry it to a nearly unmarked location 40min away that was only open for very limited and somewhat random times which were all during business hours. Took 3 tries. You can block them from drawing on your account though you may have to go to your bank to do it. Still they’re closer and tend to have reasonable hours.

Throughout the evolution of TV I've kept my Dish Network package for the time being. I've added a Roku USB and have had Amazon Prime for years and that gives me additional access to movies and other sources. I keep Netflix because it's so easy and seamless to watch movies.

When the local cable company rebuilt their network to include 100mb internet access for the same price we were paying for 15mbps internet, the viewing world woke up for us.

Hello folks, with the advent of the digital age everything has changed.

If you have a TV with HDMI you can use a PC as a Media Centre, this means that it can be used as a blu ray player and media player.

So anything from an Intel Compute Stick to a Barebones PC, a Barebones PC is the ultimate option though as you can use a blu ray or DVD drive.

KODI seems interesting, never used it but there's some good sounding JEOS (Just Enough Operating System) versions around that use a linux build with a small footprint. It's the continuation of XBMC (Xbox Media Centre)

Here's some links if you're interested.

I know right where the office is and not very far. Thank you so much!

    Hi, Mordacai,
I so appreciate all of this, but, unfortunately for me, it looks like a different language. I already have an Amazon Fire stick, which I love, with HULU, Netflix and a bunch of free apps that are great. I should probably keep it as simple as I can, because, well, because I don't understand anything more complicated than plugging in a stick and signing up for streaming and kicking cable to the curb! o_O

The back of my cable box and TV both have the colored rca cables, just switch. Who do you have for internet?
I can give you directions to a popular FB cord cutting group if you need. They help with everything.
BINGO! I think this is the answer, as I looked at the back of the box. Just need to remove colored cables from box and put in tv, as the other ends are connected to stereo receiver. Am I right, r77? :)

Lol, probably. I just use the TV speakers or Bluetooth headphones.

Easiest option Katmar for disconnecting your box, is to follow the cables from the back of your box to TV and amp.
Thank you. I assume you mean receiver (amp)? I think I only need to remove speaker plugs and put into tv. They run from the receiver to box now. The other 2 things on back of box probably just need unplugged. If I run into problems, I'll come running here. Thanks Guys! :)

r77r7r, KODI in itself is not a Pirate App. But certain plugins are.

But Netflix, Hulu and free to stream services plugins are not.
Yes, I use it. I just wanted to inform everyone ahead of time before posts get deleted and warnings handed out like I've experienced in the past. Or, this thread getting locked prematurely.
