But yeah, Kodi isn't for everyone. I've seen it, the ones I set up for family or freinds, only a few of them are still functional... The amount of time you have to spend figuring things out, fixing things and staying on top of other things and what happened to this addon, where that repo moved to, which service do I need to disable now for these two things to work together and what dependencies do I need enabled to stop giving me errors etc etc. Most people prefer not to deal with all that.

Even if you have one where they provide support, if you have no basic understanding of the way it's all layer out, you'll spend every day on the phone with them like my grandma does... ofc, Im pretty sure she's fiddling around with stuff and breaking things, like she always does with the computer but still.

Has anyone noticed since tvaddons took over Exodus it seems a little slower when bringing up streams. I also saw on their website that they are accepting donations for upkeep.
Yeah, has nothing to do with their servers though, the way it works is through urlresolver which basically does a constant ddos attack on these providers lol. That's why it's slow sometimes, but if you want to donate money, donate to them. TV addons servers don't even play a part in it.

Had a weird problem when they upgraded my modem. Everything ok when the tech set it up. Changed to my lan cable and all of a sudden the online lite went yellow. Still got on line but slow. Changed cable, green lite, good to go.

The box also has the option of hooking it up with WPS which seems to work great when I hooked up my extender to my new modem added the pw for me. Don't know if a cable modem comes with that option but I've used in on my phones when I'm at MIL's on the coast and it works like a champ
I just took a look at the tvaddons thing you said, they totally do make it sound like their servers play a part in it, while Exodus would probably function for a long while without any kind of updates. TV addons are pros at that, like hey look we added French, want to give us your moneys?

I had a similar problem when they changed out my modem so that it would allow 2 DSL's to come in. I was supposed to be getting 40Mbps but was only getting 28. They checked everything out and it was all working ok then one of the techs noticed the cable running from my phone outlet to my modem and the guy just put the old one on. He changed that with a new style and made his trainee feel the difference in the cables. As soon as he did that it went right to 40.

Anyone have a Comcast Internet package with just local channels? I can't use an antenna in my area.
I think Comcast is like all the biggies they want you to subscribe to 150 useless channels also. The only reason I got that package from Dishnetwork is I have been with them for 20 years. It's not available as far as they are concerned. I've heard USTVnow is pretty good. I haven't tried it but it has a free month I believe in HD then it's $20 for the first 3 months for the networks and goes to 30 after that or you can go with more channels and even a DVR cloud based I'm sure for $30 then $40. I looked at some of the different packages from Sling, Direct TV go, USTVnow also PS Vue. The Vue looked like it had the best packages for the least money. At least from what I watch.

I don't know why I didn't think of using WPS before. It should work if a cable modem has that option. But I can't get her to respond I think she just thinks she can't do it and I know she can. As far as keeping repos and new addons removal of old ones SS takes care of that just have to learn to run the updater which is easy.

Yeah I feel ya, but dealing the whole rigamarole w/ them every time something happens might not be something she wants to so. Or it might, I dunno, i just know that's why kodi isn't mainstream, and will never be, it's too complicated for the average person even my gf has trouble with it.

if everyone used kodi it would be a disaster, they've been trying to shut them down for 6 years but haven't been able to so far, bc they're not technically doing something wrong, but if they were smart, what they could legally do is force xbmc to deny/block a list of certain addons and repo's.

I think actually xbmc devs saw this coming so that's why they added the directory input for movies/shows in 17, so you can just add directories of providers under "movies"/"TVshows" without using addons.

Yeah if she doesn't want to mess with it a fire box would be handy, you can always load Kodi on that but thats even more hassle then having it already there. Rokus are also very easy almost run themselves and simple to have Netflix, Amazon, Sling and a ton more but not for kodi. I think she already has an Amazon acct and Netflix is only $10 and it seems to be getting more and more newer movies. But I like the way Kodi has all the seasons and episodes so you're not at their will of what you can watch. It's like the Hobbit not available on any of the streaming services but kodi. Well she can get her money back and thats good. I just wished she could get it hooked with a Lan cable and everything else would be easy. I kinda feel responsible cause I talked her into it, The SS is probably the easiest one but not if you can't get it to connect.
