So I bought a Provari a couple months ago.. It's been great! Except for one thing... After the second week I noticed my "top cap" was starting to come out of the body unit.. This bothers me. I looked it up. Looks like I'm not the only one. Provape's answer to this issue was to take a piece of wood, place on top of the "top cap" and hit it with a hammer! Are you .......ing serious?? Yes! I totally want to do this to something I just spent a couple hundred dollars on.. Ughh.. It kept getting worse. So I tried it. It was hard for me to follow through, but I did. It worked.. For about a day or so.. I have to keep doing this. So next to where I keep my juice, I also keep a hammer and a piece of wood.. Not to happy with having to do this after spending that much money and heard nothing but good about the quality of how it's made. I finally wrote provape and they got back to me fast! Great customer service. They said I needed to send it in. They stated that one of their "newer" employees did find the right cap for it? Cause sometime they don't come out the same? (Body and top cap) So, I guess I'll send it in. My problem now is? What do I use in the mean time?? I can't go back to my eGo!!! So I'm off to buy a new VV mod. Any suggestions? Vamo? Evic? Where and how much? Always have a back up! Right! Well thanks for letting me rant.. Anything that you could suggest to being kinda close to a provari but not the same price! Lol.. And no, I don't want to but a 2nd provari. I wanna switch it up a bit. Thanks!!

I was getting tired of toting my Provair with ext. cap around for out and about use, and began looking around for a smaller variable voltage device so I could keep my Provari at home.

I ended up getting a different form factor in a gripper-type box mod. For $30 plus batteries, it's an inexpensive solution for me. It's light and small enough to fit easily in a pocket. The first pair of 18350 imr batteries are still going strong after 24 hours of use. voltage and atty meter. Three button control. 3.1v to 6v in 0.1v increments. Nice LED display. Rubberized grip. Strong connector and battery door. DV has a custom fit leather pouch/lanyard for $9. It's a nice mod.

Which batts are you using in the Provari? If 18350 or 18650 I'd get the Vamo. If you are using 18490 I'd go with a mech mod that can use them. You'll miss the VV but it will get you by. Also mechs make great backups, they do great with mesh wicks and with possible regulations and legislation s coming, everybody should have at least one.

A hammer and wood? I had to re-read that to make sure I read it right. Sorry you've had a defective unit and hope it gets fixed properly for you.
The Vamo would be a good second pv I would think. Mine has been good to use - I initially though it would be more of a back up but I vape with it more than anything else now. Good price on them too. Quite a few people have been buying them from exhalevapors with a 40% off coupon. You'd get to play around with variable wattage as well as the variable voltage you're used to.
Whatever you decide - hope you find what you want on the back up buy as well.

That makes since to me as the top cap is pressed in. Most people do not have a press available to them so a block of wood and a hammer is the next best thing. Ive used this method to fix parts that cost thousands of dollars. It also makes since that youed have to fit each cap to each tube. Sorry you got a bad one!
For me its not the occasional bad one as everyone will screw up at one time or another. Its what the company does when confronted. Do they humbly admit their wrong and fix the problem. Do you have to go threw some overly complicated precess to get it fixed. To me thats the value having builder support.
Id suggest a box mod for a back up.

I would consider a VV Saber, great mod with good looks. If you don't have a established vaping device like a specific carto or atty the voltage adjustment is fiddly But I set mine at 4.2 with a 2.5 atty and hasn't been changed in 6 months. But with the Saber you have almost infinite color choices so you can design one that is truly you.

So the vamo takes the 18650? Cause that's what I use with my provari. Sounds like I'm going to go with that. Any dislikes you have about it?

I have a chrome Vamo for a backup of my Provari mini. I'd get the chrome one, there are black chrome and SS versions though. The black chrome's coating isn't very durable and scratches and wears easily. The SS when first released had some problems with the battery cap not fitting tube in short mode and also the spring was made of a resistance alloy and got hot when vaping. I haven't had any troubles with my chrome version plus they are cheaper. There are a few things I don't like but that is comparing it to my mini. First it's longer than the Provari in long or short mode. Second it's quite a bit lighter and with some attys it is top heavy. Third is its polished surface is pretty slick and a finger print magnet if that bothers you. These are minor complaints and if you didn't own a provari you wouldn't even notice. I really like the wattage mode and leave it in that. Also I like navigating with the three buttons better than the one on Provari. It vapes as good as the Provari too. You can't go wrong for the price. It also makes a great loaner if you have a friend interesting in vaping.

Edit: Here is a review, prices are now cheaper than what he mentions.

Thanks for all your advice. I didn't want to spend too much money on a back up. After watching the reviews for the vamo, I'll be ordering one. So I can send off my provari to get fixed! I still can't believe that's what they say to do.. It's funny! Google, provari top cap coming loose. Provape has been great on customer service through this whole thing. my provari works like a charm, just looks bad. Where is the best place to order a vamo?
