First up we have the shorty. She's a black matte finish with a red led named Emerencia (a title of a King Diamond song). Went through 2 charges last night, and another tonight when I got off work. As Mark sir stated in his blog, these are best used with the slim line charger. Here are the off load voltages from the batt on each charger:
Wall charger- 4.28v
USB- 4.31v
Slim line- 4.22v
The batt was taken off as soon as the charger said they were ready, would hate to see what would happen if left on either the old style chargers overnight. Can't stress enough how important using the slim line charger is with these batts. Not even subjecting the regular or xl batt to the same tests.
Cut off time on this batt is 10.8 seconds (minused the .1 second on the stop watch for accuracy). Not nearly as long as that of the auto, but very rarely have I known anyone who takes a draw any longer than that. Only time I hit the 20.5 second average on the auto Kd's and stealths were for testing purposes or I was really stressed. This is by no means a drawback.
As stated before the switch on these is perfect. Fastest response time of any manual to date. As soon as the button is pressed you hear the sizzle of a wow carto or the snap crackle and pop of a cool cart.
Up next is run time. Used a wow carto at 2.3ohms for the first and third run, a cool cart at 3.3ohm for the second. Will be keeping track of the run times long term, but that info takes weeks of use to get. So this is a very incomplete run time chart, but best I can do in a day. In comparison a v2 auto kd had the following averages: 127min average with a wow carto at 2.3ohms, 152min with a cool cart at 3.3ohms. These were taken from 576 logged times of various batts (ocd is a blessing and curse people). As for these 3 runs:
Run 1 with a wow carto- 145 minutes
Run 2 with cool cart- 174 minutes
Run 3 with wow- 144 minutes
That's around a 14% gain on each charge in comparison to the v2's. Quite amazing for an unregulated batt with high voltage output. It wouldn't be a proper review if I didn't list voltage testing. On the last run took a full voltage panel, like usual did my nine minute intervals. This was so much easier to do in comparison to that of the autos.... These are load numbers, using again a 2.3ohm wow carto fresh off the slim line with chain vaping.
4.19 (at start), 4.16 (9min), 4.14 (18min), 4.12 (27min), 4.08 (36min), 4.06 (45 min), 4.03 (54min), 4.01 (63min), 3.99 (72min), 3.97 (81min), 3.95 (90min), 3.93 (99min), 3.91 (108min), 3.88 (117min), 3.86 (126 min), 3.84 (135min), 3.71 (144min) after that stopped. These batts are very easy to tell when it's time to quit vaping. It's like it completely shifts gears right around the 138 min mark. It's just as pronounced of that of the autos. 144 minutes without flashing (always avoid deep cycling if you can) on a wow carto out of a shorty is down right amazing. This puts it right around 205mah or so (not an exact number, don't have the equipment for that, but based off the old batts mah...). Was a bit surprised these didn't start at 4.2v under load like the autos (was 4.194 to be exact), but nothing too worry about. Believe these batts include a new IC as well to make sure the voltage stays consistent longer. This not only helps prolong the charge of the batt, but have a feeling it will help in the long term life of the batt (a theory that won't be proved for 3-6 months, maybe longer).
So there's the first round of tests of the new king diamond manuals. Will get to the regular next. Should have it up tomorrow.
