First thanks to all on the forum that have shared so much information on their experiences. I have been on the fence for a week or so but am now ready to dive head first!

It seems there is a large learning curve on equipment, mods, carts and juice and thought I would throw it out there and see if you pro's can help a Newb out by letting me know if you were starting today with what you know know ... What would your starter order be?

A little background my wife and I have smoked a pack a day for a long time. I quit with Chantix for three months but I'm miserable. My wife smokes Carlton Ultra Light Menthol and I smoke Marlboro Ultra Lights. I like the idea of smaller form devices .. it sounds like the KR808 and 510's seem to be widely used.

I would be grateful for all advice but most importantly a list of what to buy and where to buy it from would be great. Also, any tech tips for a first timer based on the equipment listed.

Thanks in advance!!!

I would still get the kit I got but with a set of extra attys and batteries and more juice from different places.
I am happy I got a PT, happy with the 510, but yeah extra attys are a good idea and the other juices..vital! Get lots, get stuff to cut it with if you aren't sure what nic strengths to buy so get various strengths too. Get lots of flavors. Don't get all one 'kind' of flavor (ie, all tobacco flavors or all fruits)

I would have to say if you are just starting out and you decide to choose a 510 the janty ego or totally wicked's tornado would be a really good choice for most..especially for a person new to vaping

you can check out my vid on it here

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...o-tornado-long-tested-review-suggestions.html

the kr8 cartomizer is another good choice because of its initial ease of use, but there is alot more to it to get a great experience...

there are tons of places to get the kr8 these days and I am sure you will get more posts on it...

the question would be how much involvement do you want to have with your vaping experience... you know tweeks refilling ... cart moding or cleaning.

I would say start off with one of the kits... and one bottle of a basic flavor that you at least know it won't gross you .. just in case it doesn't taste the way you expected.

I will walk you through on your decision if you feel you aren't getting the what you were expected on your thread.... just PM me.

my advice would be is to jump in on a purchase get your feet wet... search here.. and get use to the forum structure... after you try out your first come back and ask questions.... its so much easier to understand replies when you have something in front of you to reference to.

dont go hog wild on your first purchase.. this way you don't have to worry if it you feel you made the wrong choice... especially since no matter what you purchase there will still be more in the future. ;)

Good Luck and welcome to the community

i started with the Kr8 and am totally happy with it. using cartos is a no brainer. having said that, i would have stocked up way more on cartos at first, because as lightgeoduck said, there's more to the Kr8 than just vaping prefills. refilling isn't hard, but it does take some practice. if i were to do it over again, i'd still order a V4L (vapor4life.com) ultimate kit with cartos to try out to see if i liked it, but on my second order i would have bought a full month's worth of cartos in a safe flavor (like a menthol or coffee) so that i wouldn't have had to stress over refilling/etc. right away.

We started out with Red Dragon, the batts kept dying on us, they replaced them twice and still died. I do not recommend them at all (so sorry) We should have done more research and bought our screwdrivers first. They vape great, very long battery life and if you don't like the 901 ours came with you can always get them with a 510 atty or get an adapter like I did. Wouldn't trade my SD for anything (at least I don't think, lol!) My 801 is more portable when I go out and doesn't do a bad job at vaping and I like the fact that they have much bigger carts than the 901 or 510.

I quickly switched to a battery mod for the longer life - looking and feeling like a cigarette was not important to me. Not having to carry around a lot of extra batteries was.

Everyone has their favorites, but just make sure that you get extra batteries, carts or cartomizers, and atomizers. When I had my 510, I carried a tin with 2 extra attys and 5 charged batteries along with 2 or 3 bottles of juice (for variety).

I have to 2nd lightgeoduck's suggestion of the Janty Ego or Totally Wicked's tornado. I have tried just about every type there is both mod's and regular type and this is a really good advancement of the 510. The battery life is awesome! I too started with the Red Dragon and it was a total waste of money. I also like the kr808d-1 for on the go, but it still doesn't have the vapor or battery life of the tornado/ego. :)

when i posted my version of this question (we all have our own different stories so the advice is different) I had someone ask me a very important question. They asked whether i was going to be vaping a lot of flavors. they asked me this because based on their knowledge the 510s ran hotter and hence the flavors weren't necessarily as nice as when put through a cooler device like a m401/2/3. so because all i plan on smoking is flavors thats what i ordered (although being in Canada i'm still waiting for it to come in)

I think a titan or amega titan starterkit is definitely a safe way to start.
I got one from TW and now after a week dont really see any reason to change to something else.

I would definitely order a variety of flavours in small bottles too tho.
I got a whole bunch from liberty liquids and so far decided winston was the way to go for me.

The plan is to try and reduce the nicotine levels
but we shall see!

Based on the comments I found here, this *is* what I did.

Caveat: If you buy the eGo, buy extra atomizers. The Tornado comes with two, but the eGo (which I purchased) only comes with one, so if you (like me) promptly kill your only atty, you're back to stalking the mean mail lady. The Tornado does seem to have the better starter kit for the same price: one extra atty, and five extra carts.

Yes you are right... but even 2 atties are not enough for security reasons :D

It is always good to have a few extra atties no matter what kit you purchase ;)

Well your decision comes down to weather you want a 3pc unit or 2 pc and weather you want a mod or stock batteries. Personally If I was to order knowing what I know now I would buy ala cart from heavens gifts and get mega batts instead of the shorties. I would get a 3 attys 2 mega batte a charger and some empty whistle tip carts and probably a PT.

Anyone ever used this company (intellivapor.com) Ive had good experiences with them so far, but id like other opinions. There prices were the lowest ive found for the EVO, and the battery life is amazing. The liquid they offer appears to be pretty top notch too (alot of documentation on it)

20 dollars for 30ml from a company I have never heard of? 175 dollar kit? 145$ kit.... I mean the kit comes quite a few things, but that's ridiculous.

And they make this bold claim.."30ml Bottle of ECOpure (roughly equivalent to 4 cartons of analog cigarettes"

In all honesty, if I was starting today, with all I've learned through my mistakes and experimentation to date. I'd order a big ol' honkin' mod like the Chuck and some high resistance attys and some 60 mg/ml juice and other mixing supplies and be right here where I'm at.
But if I did that I wouldn't appreciate how much better this is than how it was when I started. So on second thought.........
