Had a few harder custom clear cases to do over the weekend but got them both knocked out and they both turned out great.

18650 Clear Case with switch/pot on the side.

A little video of the other one for folks who like those movin' pictures! (Sorry it's the same doofy guy)

I'll be working on a couple of 14500's over the next couple days, I'll get photos/videos of those as well for you. The end of my large stack is coming!!!! Then I just get to do 2 twelve page research papers and prepare for finals...anyone wanna trade?

Donesmokin your mod looks GREAT!! I love all the lights. Enjoy that bad boy.

James, I sent a pm with tracking number to ya. Should be there by tomorrow.

Good luck on your papers and your finals. Seems like every time I talk to you it's time for finals again. I missed seeing/hearing Lilly in the video. Hope all is well with her.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out with this. Hopefully it's something very simple. Talk to you soon.

I woke up at 6 am. Got my son ready for school and made both my kids breakfast. Wife wished me happy birth day as I handed the coffee I just made for her. I forgot that it was my birthday to be honest. I just remembered that I took the day off work. 9.00am rolls over "G'day Mr post man, thank you very much". My kk mod had just arrived. A message was in the parcel. opened by customs as it was flagged as a bomb. this thing is the bomb, it works awesome. Thank you James you have made an average birth day great.

The "Flip" is here! The third member of my Krimson Kustom family arrived about an hour ago. The color changing LED is fun. The display being upside down at the bottom means I can see my voltage as I vape. This bad boy has the power to make these 2.5 ohm DC cartos I bought work the way I want them to. Good job James and thank you!

BTW. I use 510/510 shorty adapters. The draw on the carto tanks seems to tighten up after a few days. With the adapter I get more air flow.

Very nice lookin set up ya got there done!! I like the color choices.

James received my lil man and within lightening time got back to me with his evaluation of things. He could not see anything wrong with my mod because it worked just fine when he put his batteries in. The on/off switch had a little play in it and he wanted to epoxy that in so it would not have any wiggle in it at all. Also, wants to replace the back of the mod. I didn't realize the tabs were even broken. He thinks the problem is with my batteries and they must be conking out on me. Here is my question...

According to the multimeter, when I measure the batteries out of the charger, they come out at 4.1. I was under the impression that the batteries were fine and fully charged. Is there another way to actually check to see if batteries are okay or not? I have to say that when I got my mod and batteries, I made it a practice of completely letting the batteries drain out and then recharge them. I also allowed them to remain in the charger until the time came for me to use them again. I kind of think that may be my problem. I do things differently now. I no longer let them drain completely out and I recharge them before they die. I also remove them from the charger once they are charged. I have always kept them in a cool dry place. These current batteries were purchased in December and I was hoping they would last longer than this.

I asked James about my care of the batteries and haven't heard back from him yet but my plan is to buy new batteries and treat them appropriately from the get go. Anyone else have any other suggestions?? I thought the whole point of having a multimeter was being able to know if your batteries were good or not:(. I also read somewhere that you cannot actually measure a battery unless it's under load. ???

Nothing comes easy for me when it comes to vaping. I'm so grateful for all of your help and support here on ECF and James, you are the best!! I will be talking to you soon dear.

As far as I am aware Lithium Ion batteries do not have a life memory pattern like some of the older rechargeable batteries do where if you only fill them so full or let them lose so much charge it hurts them, I think they're fairly good with however you fill them. I do know that they have a cycle life and that like everything else some may not last as long as others.

I've read through a couple threads about how batteries discharge differently when put in series compared to if they were used separately on their own but I would guess it's probably more that they don't evenly discharge or something.

Any other info from anyone who knows more is appreciated.

Bully Mom:

I only use AW IMR batteries in my mods, and have only lost one in over a year now. I am fairly certain the one which failed was due to it's age, and allowing it to over-discharge. I usually do not allow my batteries to drop below 3.5 volts before recharging.

The AW IMR batteries work VERY well, and provide consistent voltage and much higher amperage than most Li‑ion batteries out there including AW's Li‑ion 14500. I strongly recommend that you at least try them. ;)

Hey Techno, I was hoping to hear from you. Those are exactly the batteries I DO have. Thanks to your recommendations. I purchased them from RTD vapor (I think that's the name of the vendor). I know they are considered to be the best. I kept them in pairs, Team A, and Team B. When I charged them, I rotated them in the charger and in the mod. Kept a log of every action I made with them. I used these two pair of batteries exactly the same. I don't mind buying new ones If I need them, just hate to purchase 4 brand new ones if the ones I have are okay. It doesn't make sense that the mod works great with James's batteries and will NOT work with mine. I have to assume the batteries are no longer good. I think the problem lies with me and how I used the batteries.

One simple question. When I take them out of the charger, and they measure 4.1 on the multimeter, does that number NOT indicate a fully charged battery?? Could it be that the batteries are just not holding a good charge due to the way I was charging/discharging them?? I would assume that if the batteries were actually charging, when you put them in the mod they would at least work for a few seconds. My batteries won't even get the mod to fire at all.

Is there a way to check your batteries to see if they are good??

Going to wait and hear from you guys and then I will purchase new batteries before James sends my mod back to me.

Anyone know someone having a sale on batteries????

4.1v is fine... Up to 4.20v is OK. I notice my Pila charger stops charging a bit below 4.20. (Which is good for IMR batteries)

Did you happen to check the voltage on the batteries when the mod cuts off? IMR batteries are susceptible to over-discharge. Perhaps the batteries were damaged due to that? I know the IMR I lost was right after I let my Krescendo run down till cut-off.

As I posted above, I try to always charge my batteries before they get below 3.5v.

I'm sorry to say I didn't check the battery after it had discharged. I'm just going to order some new ones and have them ready to go. I may just wait until James sends the mod back and check my current batteries to see if by some stroke of luck they happen to work. Just to be sure.

Thanks so much Techno.... I really appreciate your help. [[[[[hugs]]]]]

bully mom,
Glad to hear your Little Man is OK. The AW IMR batts are a little shorter than the Li-ions. Are you using battery spacers? I'm thinking James slapped some of the longer trustfires in it. I don't know much about IMR batts but I doubt it's a good idea to run them all the way flat 'cuz they don't have a protection curcuit. Maybe you can check your batts fresh off the charger then try them in the mod. If they quit check the voltages again. I'm kinda guessing at this point! If all else fails you could always pick up some trustfires. Sorry Technonut, I just had to say it...LOL!

The Flip in a powerhouse! So far 16 hours of heavy vaping with a 2.5ohm DC in the tank. I just metered the batteries and they're still @3.8 volts. A 2.5 DC is two 5 ohm coils so they suck a lot of power, someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that. Nothing else I have will run these 2.5 DC's at peak performance. In the first hour of use I had to drop the voltage down to 5.8 'cuz I was getting woosey from too much nicotine (13mg), I may have to go lower! Great mod James, thanks again!

Glad you are enjoying your mod done. It's a nice lookin mod.

I want to put up one more question if I could about batteries.
After I saw tecno's post, I went back and took a good look at my batteries. They are AW protected, 14500, 750mah, 3.7 batteries. The wrapper is silver with a red stripe around it. It also says IC in red on the battery. The batteries I purchased for my provari are indeed the AW IMR batteries which are red in color.

I purchased those particular batteries when I did because it said they were "protected". They were more expensive than the AW IMR batteries. Tecno, can you post a picture of the exact battery I should buy please?? Does it HAVE to say "protected" on it?? I tried to take a pic of the batteries at RDS and could not for the life of me get an image of them.

I have never used spacers and these batteries have been working great the whole time I've had them.

Someone tell me what to buy please?? I'm wondering if RSD is going out of business. I have not been able to access their site today at all. Looks like the web site may be under some sort of construction.
