i have a nook that is dual booted as an android, so i can download and read nook, kindle and almost any book with e-reader capability. [i have a wierd aversion to paying a company a high price and ONLY being able to order books from their site. monopolies are not us heh]

Yeah, I have quite a few Nook Ebook buys that I had downloaded in the past to read on my comp. When I made my choice about buying my E Reader it was about what device would allow me to get the most for my money. I'm on a fixed income and I looked at all the ins and outs of both devices. $80 a year for all I get, free books, free movies, Prime 2 day delivery (I've used the free expidited delivery a few times and its nice to have that ability), with the actual price of the Nook being higher than my Kindle.. it was a no brainer for me. One thing I had to get used to was how reading my Ebook on a Kindle was not as smoothly set up, (user friendly I mean ) than when I read an E Book using the Nook App on my comp. I'm used to the difference now but at first I had a hard time getting used to my Kindle due to that.

Ok fellow bookworms... 11/22/63 is not yet available for me at my local library so I am going to give Dan Brown a go. Not sure I want to read the Da Vinci Code because I've seen the movie but then again the books are usually better. the other ones available are Deception Point, Digital Fortess or The Lost Symbol.

any suggestions on which one to read?

Thanks Class. Just in time with a reply too. I'm fixin to leave the office and head straight for the library. Think I'll check out Digital Fortress. I CANNOT be without a book to read. It's just feels weird if I am!

Was thinking of getting myself a Kindle for Christmas but it's just not in the cards :( On the bright side, library books are free and I get to visit with the ladies that work there.

He's somewhere between science fiction and thriller, usually with a good vs evil subtext. This latest one is co-written with someone else and is darker so far- which may be why i can't get into it. I got hooked by his series Black/Red/White/Green- which was probably his best IMO. Ted Dekker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

i haven't read all of this thread to know what everyone likes to read. i love science fiction and fantasy. i'm also a huge fan of self-motivation and non-religious spiritual books [way of the peaceful warrior; eat, pray, love; etc]. currently reading the game of thrones and loving them! the author of my all-time favorite series Dragonriders of Pern, recently passed and i'm still pretty sad about that, though she had a very full life.

The Pern series is amazing! I have them all in storage and can't wait to bring them home for my daughter to read. I was thinking about buying them again for her reader I got her for Christmas...but that's a lot of money when you look at how many books there are!

I heard the Game of Thrones is excellent! Thanks for reminding me...going to go add it to my wishlist tonight. :)

No laptop either ladies....thanks...lol

I'm just playing with ya, I am happy with regular books, but someday I hope I do get an e-reader!

It was on my xmas list, but I think a bit too pricey for my gift givers this year....

I can't seem to get into new stories lately - for the most part, my reading lately has consisted of re-reading really good books I read before - for example, I just finished a book called "Tipping The Velvet." It's a fictional book about lesbianism set in London in the 1800s - It's a really interesting story and there is a lot of historical stuff in it too and I think the background of it is pretty accurate - but there is a lot of things that could make you blush as well in it!! lol
I had originally read this book for a book club awhile back, was nice to read it for the second time, was hard to put down!

My mind keeps going back to books I had read in the past and wanting to reacquaint myself with those good books again. I am trying to read a book for the first time by an author I like - but can't seem to get into it!

I can join Prime for $40 because I previously had it for free as a student, but I haven't done it yet. I just did my tax return Friday and I'm getting enough back that I'm thinking I'll get myself the Kindle Fire and do the Amazon Prime again. I've wanted that for awhile now! Hubbs and I decided to wait for our special Christmas gifts for each other until tax return time, so I think I'll put that on my wish list ;) Now it's just a waiting game!

I haven't been interested in reading anything new recently, maybe I should try to curl up with some old favorites this evening.
