Pwyll that's too cool. Can you take some pics for me? I have a few pipes laying around I've been debating trying to mod.

What kind of pics?

I was thinking of modding some pipes as well since my grandfather made custom Pipes for briar and a few other big companies. Even some that are upwards of 5000 dollars made of meershum.

How/where does the switch work on those pipes?

Switch is the big brass "button" on top. I used a "brass finish" 3/4 inch sliding door finger pull from Lowes as I'd already bought some to make/mod a couple pipes on my own. This pipe was actually made by Matt @ ePipeMods.com and his original buttons are a bit shallower than mine. As for how it works, there's a plate at the bottom of the bowl for the positive contact and a ring around the top of the bowl for the negative. The button floats on a spring above the negative pole and pushing it down brings it into contact with the ring and compleats the circuit. I was kind of surprised to find that Matt's method is almost exactly what I had worked out except that his ring for the negative contact is a bit more elegant than my idea of just dremelling the bottom off one of the finger pulls to make it a tube...

Just remember if you're modding a tobacco pipe that the bowl has to be big enough to accommodate the battery you want to use and that pipes meant to be used with combustion have a tapered bowl that will need to be cylindrified...

Oh we needed that around here today! It's good thing we went to church last night, or they'd have kicked us out today. DH & the boys are white castles...like crystals for my southern friends. aka "sliders". And the new Dorito taco from taco hell. They figured if they were going Big, they'd go big!

Thank goodness it was nice out today and I could open windows.

even the cats were disgusted
