Oh, those do work really well, I hear. My mother had a dog that was petrified of loud noise, mostly during thunderstorms, which we get here a lot. Before thundershirts were on the market, we would put a tight kid's size T shirt on her and it helped.
I'll find out tomorrow. They were on sale at Pet Smart. After I got it I did hear about the tight T shirts and ace bandages. She's wiggly though. They had a calming collar thing that I picked up too. Hopefully she won't hide behind the toilet shivering and panting all night. Poor baby.
Up way too early for a holiday. Sitting here drinking coffee and listening to my dog chase rabbits in her sleep (at least someone is still sleeping).
What's everyone up to today? I'm going to make a hot dog/baked bean/watermelon plate and go to my mother and step-father's grave site and spend it with them. Kind of depressing sounding, but it's really not. No family get-together this year as many are out of town for vacation, beach and mountains and so forth.

My neighbors. Jerks. Fireworks and alcohol is always such a lovely combo.
I hope they nurse hangovers until at least 5pm.FP, that actually sounds kind of nice, communing with loving spirits.

I lived in Florida in my late 20s and 30s and the big thing there was to shoot off guns (shotguns) into the air as a celebration.
It will be nice and peaceful, I think. My step-father was a retired Navy Officer, so I will decorate his marker with flags and my mother loved her dogs, so I am putting a piece of one of her dog's hair that I cut off when she passed shortly after my mother did, with a ribbon tied around it. That would make her happy.
I'm on call till Monday. Don't go anywhere anyway on the 4th. Our house sits on a ridge with a view of the river and casinos about a mile away and maybe 200 ft lower. The fireworks are shot from a parking lot on the river and they pop at eye level for us. We take the tots on the patio and watch from there. Local radio station plays patriotic songs.
People shoot guns around here. Lots of fireworks been happening on and off in neighborhood for the past two weeks.
Sheba been hanging in yard at night chasing frogs. I been sitting on back deck at night when cooler. Sheba didn't seem to mind the noise.

I try to avoid being on the roads on the 4th, especially after dark. Don't blame you for staying in.
Wish I was near a casino...my bank account is probably relieved that I'm not, though
I'm a Georgia native and never heard of that until I moved to Florida. But, I'm also in the burbs, near Stone Mountain, so maybe they just don't do that here. I know I have family in south GA that have neighbors who do that. They never shared that until a few years ago.
Is the hippie store in Inman Park?
Show is over. About 20 minutes. Pretty good. Too bad the locals won't stop at 10pm. Tots will drive us nuts. Lightning in the distance. Had the little guy on my chest and the big guy on my lap. Only barked when the kids next door talked. Normal heartbeats. Mama was bored and went for kibble.
