I should know better than to ever look at anything Fox "News" has to say about vaping, but I feel I should know what lies the gullible are being fed by the media. Their latest attempt to vilify vaping has me feeling aghast.

SO tired of trying to make new accounts to post stuff on that type of gibberish.. Here is the post I tried to make....

" "We haven't been able to prosecute them because we don't have the overwhelming evidence," Howell said."

So, where is the proof? A simple forensic lab, not to mention the portable drug testing kits carried by many law enforcement officers, can "prove" if drugs are in these. So, there weren't.

Obviously, this is a "paid to write story" to spread more fear mongering and more lies on the Vaping Community.

What is it about simply trying to find an alternate, healthier, safer method, to reduce cigarette smoking, that ANTZ find so scary that they have to resort to these lies? Are they afraid they will lose all that Government Tax money when cigarettes actually do stop being bought?

The other day somebody from Fox News declared that Santa Claus is a "historical figure" and that he's definitely "white like Jesus". I'm not making this up. You can't even make up some of the rubbish Fox News reports.

Actually, Santa Claus is an historical figure. Saint Nicholas of Greece is the patron saint of children. His feast day is December 6th. He was know for secret gift-giving. The modern "Santa Claus" comes from the Dutch name for St. Nick - Sinterklass. The tradition of Santa Claus bringing gifts to children on the eve of the birth of the Christ child evolved from these facts.

Oddly he's burred in a graveyard near where I live. I often thought of taking the kids to see the grave and saving a fortune at Christmas.

Ecigs ARE being used for much more than just nicotine. Why do you think that ECF has such a strong policy against talking about any use of an ecig other than for nicotine? There are plenty of places that sell modified vaporizers for use of other substances.

The key word in your response is "modified."

To hear these news stories, you would think that people are buying an NJOY or Blu eCig from their local convenience store and just replacing the liquid in the cartridge with some controlled substance.

The models that closely resemble the size and shape of cigarettes use an atomizer that operates at around 60 C. Oil-based liquids require a higher operating temperature to be vaporized.

So the ANTZ are making it sound a lot easier than it really is.

Just found this in one of the Health New Zealand Reports:

Cigarette smoke is produced by combustion at temperatures of up to 1000 degrees Centigrade, which is highly destructive, breaking up tobacco into free radicals and many small harmful gas molecules such as carbon monoxide, butadiene, benzene etc.

Also:

Safety results refer to the Ruyan® V8 Classic. However the low operating temperature (54°C) of
the atomiser - 5 to 10% of the temperature of a burning cigarette - suggests e-cigarettes as a class
are unlikely to emit cigarette toxicants in their mist.

It is also very easy to make tinctures with PG and fill up a carto or clearo with it. It does not have be a modified ecig for use of illegal substances. Our regular equipment can be used just the same.

Yeah, the whole "white like Jesus" thing caused me to rewind the DVR a couple times to make sure I heard them accurately, and then had me shake my head.

I just thought I'd point out that this web site is for a local Fox affiliate, and not the Fox News cable network. Most cities have a FOX affiliate, and the ones I've seen generally don't take the standard Fox cable network pundit position on most issues. Local affiliates usually take the local position (or bias) on news stories, and they do so to keep their audience.

As for this story, I have to wonder if this news organization actually believes they've uncovered some unknown story and are doing a service to their community. Anyone who has grown up in the last century knows that almost anything can be modified to become a device for delivering illegal substances. I can only assume that they decided they needed a boost in the local ratings, so they spun this story to that effect.
