I am debating on grabbing myself a Lavatube. I was originally gonna go with a Provari, but lavatube seems to be great too. I have a Silver Bullet and a variable voltage box mod. I would really like a VV tube mod. Money difference is huge which obviously makes the Lavatube look even better. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks guys/gals!

Lavatube is a fine, big battery VV PV. It lacks a few of the Provari features that may or not matter to you, such as-

- remaining battery charge,
- resistance measurement
- accurate output voltage, will tell you if you select something it is unable to provide
- 3.5 amp (vs LT 2.5 amp) current limit
- higher level build quality
- one year (extendable to 2 year) warranty
- very economical upgrade path
- stellar CS

I have varitube X mod (ivape lavatube) and it is pretty good basic VV mod. Performs best with 3ohm cartos/tanks you just have to stay away from dual coil cartos. The mini is pretty convenient size but the batteries only last a few hours so its really a "at home" device since you will be swapping the battery a few times a day. I have also read that there is a new version coming out soon (full tube/amp redesign?) so maybe do some research on that and see if it is worth waiting.

The Lavatube is a pretty decent VV device for the price. Mine continues to perform well even after being dropped and working the connector loose. The amperage limit is my only real complaint, but in most cases it provides just enough power.

The VMAX should also be on your list of 1/2 price Provari alternatives. It has a very high 5amp limit and a power output that feels quite a bit higher than the displayed voltage, though, so it requires a little more patience.

I picked up one of the SS lavatubes and I am very pleased with it... I like the fact that is has the spring loaded post... the only thing that bothers me is the ability to use dual coils. You can't really turn it up high enough to get a decent vape... If you looked at the provari, maybe take a look at the V-Max... looks about the same and has alot of the same features for half the price

Couple of those things are not exactly accurate, at least in all cases.

- Lavatubes DO provide remaining battery charge. With V1 version, you press the power button 6 times to display remaining charge. With the "so-called" V1.5 and V2, there is a bar type battery indicator, like on a cellphone.

-The V-tube from apolloecigs.com comes with a 1 year warranty. You can get it extended at Squaretrade.com to 3 years for $10.

-The V1.5 an V2 LTs have a 3.2 amp limit, same as the Provari. Only the V1 LT has the 2.5amp limit.

-The Provari tells you if you select an inappropriate voltage by going into an error mode. The LTs just readjust your voltage. If you stick with 2.5-3ohms, it becomes a non-issue with either unit.

-CS depends on the vendor. Apolloecigs has excellent CS, as do many other vendors. Like most PVs, CS doesn't come from the manufacturer. Provapes is a little different in that respect, but with a good vendor it becomes somewhat of a moot point.

Press the power button 5 times quickly to see the battery voltage.

Didn't know that one. Not on my older LT.

Try it 6 times, or 7 times. It seems to vary by unit. Mine is 7 times.
Also, if you hit the power button until it displays the remaining voltage, then press the fire button, then press the power button once more, it will display the voltage under load. This works on the older V1 units. Not sure about the V1.5-V2s.

    Wrong!
Click the red button (not the power) 6 times to see battery voltage with a V1 L-Rider produced LT.
(many will confuse "power" for "fire"

I have both a provari and a LT, and the vape tastes the same.
If you are into dual coil stuff then it becomes a no brainer, you need the Provari. If you just use single coil stuff, you wont get close to the amp limit of the LT anyway.
