Thanks for the pics. I vaped the sapphire at 6v the first day, and it was great. Not as good now. Sometimes burnt. Might try looking inside at the wick.

I tore mine down this morning and got it working better. Part of the wick is charred. My suspicion is that it might be a wicking issue. Since the wick just sorta sits on top of that coil, rather than being attached, it seems like some efficiency might be lost in transferring juice to the coil. So when you burn it hotter, you vaporize more juice and the wick dries out a little bit allowing the high temps to form singed juice crust. That might also explain why the vapor production isn't higher despite this thing having a bridgeless atty underneath the whole thing.

I do have to say having to run it to lower voltages is preferable to juice leaking out the bottom :)

I think I need to experiment with it more (first I have to finish the juice that's in there). I left more wick inside than out and made sure I fluffed it fairly well to get good coverage. I left the external side of the wick sticking up just a little bit from the top of that sleeve. You have to be careful, not enough and it will leak. It actually kinda turns the air chamber into a drinking straw... not fun :)

I think I might sacrifice a CE2 and experiment with using a longer wick in there at some point.

Why are all these products being released without better and more thorough pre-market testing being done. There are many people who are not able or just plain don't want to have to take things apart every few days to keep them in working condition. It's not just this product that this rant is about but should this product really have been raved about by a supplier before these problems were out in the public masses ? Burnt wicks ? Seriously ? I really hope that it's just a few isolated cases but I doubt it.

I did order some of these before this thread came about, but I have not received them yet. There are more than likely quite a few people that have ordered these things that neither have the capability to fix them nor the desire. I just think burnt wicks should be pretty much a thing of the past with these newer type atomizers and cartomizers. I know they're not but we as consumers are still spending our hard earned money on the (next big thing) And yes I'm guilty of it. Had I known this could possibly be a problem I may have thought twice about ordering. But I've done a little modding so taking these apart and fixing will be no problem. But I guess this is more of a rant for the people that can't. Does this make any sense ?

Edit: Wanted to give thanks for the pics and info. Also I do understand the supplier has very little control over the quality control of these products made overseas. I hope that with more info and feedback these things will happen less and less in the future.

I hear ya. These are actually pretty low maintenance if you don't try and push the limits of them.

One thing that I should probably point out is that AFAIK burnt wicks has only happened to people who have pushed these things at higher voltages. I don't think there's been any reports of burning on 3.7v devices. I think to some degree if you are vaping at higher voltages, you might have some level of acceptance with things like burnt wicks. Generally, I think that most people who don't want to bother with messing around with stuff probably aren't using big battery or VV mods. The burning is for the most part a result of people testing the limits of these devices.

um this is the market testing.
and for a first version product I think this one is pretty darn good. you dont HAVE to take them apart and do anything if you dont want to. they work good out of the box with minimal fuss. and as long as you have a wick there is a chance it could get burned no matter what you do. so far the problems are far less than many other similar devices.
I think its great that ppl have tore this apart and it should be easy to maintain. no more trouble than screwing with attys and carts and ect. how often do you clean those? or you can use it like any other carto and trash it when it starts performing below what you like.

I hope that's the case StotheK !

Shouldn't you wait at least until you recieve your Sapphires to see how they work for yourself before saying that they should do this or that they need that?

Maybe so, but I would have felt a little better about my purchase had I not seen complaints about leaking and burning wicks this soon . But I will constrain any more opinions until I receive them. Guess I was hoping this was something we wouldn't see.

I think what you have to keep in mind is that this is a Brand New Product. There is Always going to be a glitch or two with any new product.

You also can’t base overall performance or quality on a couple of posts. If you look, there are Many people who are using them right now and are completely happy with them.

Hopefully you will be one of them also.

yes it woul dbe best you do that as to not spread stuff without trying them , and the issues you mentioned are 5 out of 3000 peaces sold so lets cool ourselves here.

Squirlell, its ok to be worried when waiting for a new product, but dont worry with the sapphire, your gaurenteed against doa and any damaged from shipping that are broken apart, perormance wise they are rocking, a few that have issues are minor ones, and some of those have been fixed, the ones with issues are the ones you will here about most and that is at a bare minimum, we know this as the complaints are not coming in, its virtually non existant. we stand behind our product. as i mentioned there are thousands of peaces out there and the issues are at the 5 to 7 range and are minimal issues and some have been fixed, thats unheard of in the ecig world. if a real issue arrises we are here to deal with it, im here every day since 2009, so no worries
