Even with the wick I still love the Saphire! I do think that at least part of the blame for the wick burning as much as it did is my own fault for trying to test the limits of the Saphire. Great thing was that I was able to bring the Saphire back to life easily. I think these are meant and designed for 3.7-4.2V. The Bud that I used at that voltage range wasn't nearly as burnt. Chris/Dan I do agree with you that the Saphire is a great product with almost no issues and that is a feat for a 1st general released version of a e-cigg product. I will be buying more of these once you get your large shipment in.
I think we all need to keep something in mind here. Everyone wants a great product but don't want to pay a lot of money for it. There is only so much a factory can do to achieve both those aims. I am sure there is some high quality wicking available that would never burn but it costs more money and if it was used the cost would go up and people likely wouldn't want to buy it because it would result in a higher product price. Chris/Dan have done a great job at delivering a great product with a very reasonable cost.
