I waxed nostalgic once. Thought the wife wanted me to try manscaping. (Actually, she just wanted me to do some landscaping but she had the flu and was mumbling and I didn't want to go anywhere near her because she was snotty gross so I misunderstood.) So I went in and had them give me the full Turtle Wax man job. It hurt like hell having every hair on my body below my beard ripped off by a sadistic Brazilian chic. Worst of all, she pretended she didn't know what I was saying when I asked her to close the curtain to the front window of her shop where I was strapped down on a table buck naked except for a dish towel over my business while she was working on me. The shop btw, is sandwiched in a high traffic location between a Dairy Queen and a Starbucks. Her assistant stood out front with a tip jar inviting people to watch. The assistant made $37.50 in tips off my pain and I got multiple bleeding wounds which cost me $150. Man was my wife surprised when I came home with a .... as shiny as a bowling ball instead of with the japanese maples she wanted. I was like "Well, next time, don't mumble."

What are some things you remember about where vaping, and the vape community, was when you started? I have fun going back and watching some of the videos that helped get me through those early hurdles. The videos of someone using a Cisco lo-res atty on an Ego battery and going, "OMG look at this crazy vapor production!" Back when everyone wanted, no, needed Boba's Bounty and it came in the bottle that looked like a cologne bottle. And it was hard to squeeze out, but no one cared, because...Boba's Bounty.

Fluval blue foam modified cartridges. Having to order mod batteries from obscure flashlight companies. Using the little "condom" caps to suction refill carts or trying to sneak syringes to poke around that batting and drop juice. De-bridging atties. Matching your drip tip from Nhaler (RIP, Drew) to the LED light at the end of your Joye510. Puresmoker Tonic. RY4. When we thought clearomizers were awesome, even if they did suck, because I mean, no more dripping or soaking polyfil right! Back before the Ego was available in every color under the sun at your local vape shop, but you could get red, pink, and blue ones through Heaven's Gifts if you were willing to wait a month for it to ship from China. The Juicebox/Wetbox craze.

It is mind boggling how far vaping has come and how fast. What are some of your memories?

I'll have to snap some pics this weekend of some real OG vape gear. My son has, and still has it in his vape kit, his Very first E-cig.

The year was 2005. My wife thought the two older kids should quit smoking and a vape shop opened (its actually still there). 90 bucks each with a bottle of juice.

Not only does he still have it the battery still holds a charge and he has the extra bits. Its still 100% functional. We used it a couple weeks ago. Its useless. He barely used it and daughter never used her's. I had zero interest in there little tootle puffer and actually drove buy that store thousands of times.

I never really thought about it but my boy, who's just a pup, has been playing with vaping for 10 years now.

I remember every couple of months, on a weekend, I would gather up all of the cartomizers from my wife and I. I would usually wait until I had 30-40 used cartos. I would start the day boiling, straining, boiling, straining, flushing with a baby syringe, until the water was clear. Then baking on a cookie sheet for about an hour, and air dry for the rest of the weekend. Good times.

I also still have a dent in the wall from that time the carto got away from me during a taryn spin.

I recently found 4 old stick batts at the back of the cupboard and charged them up for old times sake. The 2 black ones didn't hold a charge any longer, but the 2 purple ones with the gem stone end caps fired up. I looked pretty silly with those, but I'm confident of my manhood.

I loved it when they smashed one of those on camera at Vapefest in St. Louis. I still have a small piece of the plastic from it somewhere.

Priceless. You are best "story-teller comedian" out there. You really should write and/or do something w/your talent. I love reading your posts.

    Hrm... my nostalgic....
Metro Ecig.. still have one working.. drew from it earlier today just to check... It still worked.. a tiny puff came out... back in the box.
Ego... many broken, but still bought two for a road trip. Won't fog up the van like I did coming home tonight. Stepping out of the van tonight made me feel like a cheech and chong movie... and drove the idea of an ego for the road trip more solidly in my head.
Stardust... still wondering how to replace all those cracked plastics...
mini protank 2 clone (KWX-10).. Still using it occasionally.. Rebuild the same two coils it came with.. I wonder if I should try a 38 gauge clapton in one. :)
Kayfun lite.. gurgle, gurgle, chunk.. back in the box.
Vamo V5... 15 watts of box parts.
Silica wick..3mm of ecowool... works great as a box padding.
FluVal airstone ceramic wick... Wait.. I have one here..snap... err.. have two small..snap... oh... nevermind.
Peaches and cream yarn... still have it... might knit a vapeable sweater.
SS mesh.. Constant shorting.. tried everything available.. I might say the hell with it and hook it up to the TC mod... who cares if it shorts then. :)
I still have 230ish organic cotton balls left from my first...and only.. bag bought.
Aqua/Origin clone combo.... solid steel, hybrid, If I hold the drip tip while unscrewing the base to expose the.... only holds how much liquid??

    Ahh.. yea, the memories. :)

Yeah... The Utube video of that was Hysterical.

It's also Funny to Watch to see the Size of the Event. And what people were using to Vape. Compared to the Mega Events that are put on Today.

    Some of my memories...
So why don't some of us old-timers reminisce a little bit about how it used to be....

--I remember when new members would be struggling constantly trying to find the path to a satisfying vape
--I remember when the 510 came on the scene, with a somewhat lower resistance atomizer, and new vapers started having increased success
--I remember when 510 cartridge mods were all the rage, as folks kept trying to find a good way to continue getting those consistently good vapes
--I remember when the KR808D came on the scene, and cartomizers started pushing new vaper success rates even higher
--I remember the ensuing 510 vs KR808D wars
--I remember the Boge Cartomizers for the 510 models that may well have turned the tide towards 510 models
--I remember when low-resistance (LR) atomizers came on the scene and the ability to vary your "power" became a reality
--I remember the FDA court case, and the formation of CASAA from members on this very forum
--I remember when CASAA started working closely with long-time harm-reduction advocates, thus giving long-time THR advocates new life and consumer backing
--I remember when the Chuck came out with custom graphics
--I remember the Chuck vs Silver Bullet wars
--I remember when the Reo Mods came out, and took dripping to a whole new level
--I remember when Egos came out and new vaper success started to skyrocket
--I remember the Buzz, which if I remember correctly, started the variable voltage revolution
--I remember when the Provari came out and started the variable voltage wars
--I remember when the Nhaler came out with the Darwin and started the variable wattage vs variable voltage wars

And I look at that the New Members sub-forum these days, and find very few struggling at first vape anymore.
    Success, now, is nearly guaranteed.

    That's progress.
    :)

BTW, that thread might interest you....
I remember back in the day...

    I remember by first rebuildable; it was a genie;
didn't used to work too well on my vamo or zmax, cause the ohms kept jumping around too much, but it worked fine on my ego batts.
    glass tank broke;

one of these days; am gonna make a metal wick with some 34gauge kanthal that I have and see how metal wick tastes again.
