So far, I have only managed to convert a couple people, with a few almost successes here and there. My mom has smoked for 30+ years and is slowly coming off the stinksticks to her ego-t kit. She really likes it, but hasn't made the full switch yet. Her husband was a cigar smoker for many years and has also converted completely to the ego-t. I just helped him by a simple box mod and tank kit to replace his "small amount of juice" in the ego-t tanks. Apparently he hasn't bought a cigar in months!
I also got a coworker to buy an ego style kit and he liked it till he somehow managed to short his battery. I actually haven't heard from him in a while, so not sure if he stuck with it or not, but it's a start.
My next target is my dad, who's been smoking for 30ish years also. I won a 510 PCC kit that I think works pretty well and hope to convert him when I go to visit soon. He's mentioned that he likes the idea, but doesn't want to waste a bunch of money and find out he doesn't like it. I'll just have to wait and see.
Anyways, let's hear your attempts or success stories at converting others to the joyous world of vaping! It's really easy, most people seem to know WHAT an ecig is, but not how it works or the benefits/ease of use of them. Spread the RIGHT word people!

Congrats on trying!

The key is they have to want to try, I had gotten into a conversation with my neighbors about buying kits at the mall when they announced they were going to quit. It started the ball rolling in my mind and I followed suit. Funny they're back to smoking and I'm almost 2 years in from the first day.

I started giving out kits, but soon found they weren't being used. So now I "loan" kits for a few weeks with the understanding they'll be returned if not being used. I def follow up with them, especially if I don't get any requests for help. Don't be to hard on yourself if he doesn't take to it, he'll know to come to you when/if he's ready.

I actually got a guy to start vaping who didn't smoke before. He liked chewing tobacco but his wife would nag him ferociously about it, so I hooked him up and ordered him a kit. He reimbursed me in cash, and he's been vaping ever since. Another guy at work who does smoke.. I just got him setup too. Should be at his house by Sat. told him to bring it in on monday and I'll show him how everything works. I'm the vaper go-to-guy. lots of people have asked me, even my dad and sister.

I don't go out of my way to convert people or anything, guess being as awesome as I am, people are just naturally compelled to follow my lead :)

That's awesome! I forgot to mention, my wife vapes now and she wasn't a smoker either. She liked a hookah once in a blue moon, but hated that I smoked ciggies. She gets my old gear when I get something newer/better, lol. She's very particular about her flavors, but I have managed to make a few she likes. And she uses mostly 0 nic juice. Sometimes, she'll use some of my lower nic juices, but it's more of a treat than a habit for her. It's still cool that she's supportive of my hobby/habit. I love that woman and she's awful proud that I am officially a non-smoker again!

So far, for me, just one other person. I have had tons of smokers seriously ask me a lot of questoins about it and could tell they were very intrigued, and wanted to give it a go, but for whatever reason never made the switch. I did get one person to switch. One thing I appreciate with smokers vs non smokers is they seem to have a more open mind with it, whereas friends of mine who never smoked analogs think the thing is just a tool for the devil or something :glare:.

I think my ex husband is ready. He called me the other day to ask for links to where I purchase my products. He has COPD and I really hope he makes the switch as his health seriously needs it.

When I first started vaping I tried to convert everyone I saw smoking and that technique didn't work. I was excited about it and thought they should be too. It didn't take long to figure out to stop talking about it and eventually they would come to me when they didn't see me lighting up an analog. This approach worked, sometimes less is more.

It was interesting to have people approach me and ask various questions about my e-cig once I wasn't shoving it down their throat. They were amazed it didn't smell, and asked what was in it to produce smoke and how much do they cost? After a few questions like this I pull out my alcohol swabs and wipe off the drip tip and say " Want to try it " ? Usually they say yes and their next question is where can I get one? Thats where the business cards a vendor puts in our purchases come in real handy.

So far for sure I've converted 2 people. It's a slow process but I feel humbled to know ' little ole me ' changed someones life for the better.

You are so correct. I never did bother to push it on anyone. My approach has always been if they are curious, they will ask. And ask they have. I have had so many people - even COMPLETE strangers who saw it - come to me asking very legit and good questions. I always take the time to explain it and hope that my education will help counter the excessive misinformation they will likely hear.

Once at a karaoke bash at a campground a woman came up to me asking tons of questions as her b/f had been thinking of quitting analogs. She even asked me to write down the link where I purchase my batts and liquid. I was happy to help because the more people buy a more quality product vs some of the cheapo-s out there the more likely the reputation of e-cigs will go up. Some of the e-cigs that shall remain nameless here are enough to make anyone think the whole concept is a scam and a sham.

Yeah, I've emailed all the info to my sister and dad, and she's still smokin' and his wife is still smoking so I guess I'm not as awesome as I think :(

Personally I think you are very awesome for taking the time to do that. The switch is in the hands of the smoker/vaper, but you did your due diligence. Hats off to ya!

I've actually converted quite a few people, but I cheated because I worked in a retail ecig location for about a year. Some people would come in knowing about ecigs and looking for a kit or supplies, but I also got a lot of walk by traffic that would see me through the window just puffing away. It was fun to show it to someone who'd never heard of it.

As for smokers I've converted... my bf and I converted his ex-wife and her husband. His father is now looking into it. We gave his mother a kit, but she still smokes more often than she vapes. I converted the sister of one of my co-workers and several people in my poker league.

I'm the most happy to be able to say I converted my son. He used to nag me to quit smoking constantly and about a year after I switched to vaping, the brilliant child that he is started smoking. Go figure. He came home to live with me temporarily and I've been nudging him to get into vaping by having him try some things. I finally got him his own set up and he's only had a couple of cigarettes in the past week or so.

I bought a kit for my mom and aunt a couple of months ago.
My mom has cut down on her ciggies, but i don't think shes using the Riva much, she's told me she'll eventually give in to it,but im not gonna nag about it. My aunt, well i think she mostly use it as a show off when shes out and about.
I converted a guy at work, and he quit smoking and snus the day he got it a couple of of months ago.
Another 2 people at work are waiting for the items to get back in stock. And i'm borrowing my second Riva to a friend tomorrow so he can try it out before he orders.
Got two cousins into it aswell, they are not using it exclusively but more than my mom and aunt..
I havent talked any of these people into it really..they just been intrigued about it when they've seen me vaping.

Funny you should mention this. There are many studies on smoking cessation that show almost zero success rate when the smoker doesn't have to pay.

Makes you wonder what is up if you are in an area where the government pays for " the patch" for smokers.

Let's see.... I've converted several! First, my sister. She's trying, but I don't think she's fully committed yet, she still has analogs here and there. My friend's mother has been almost three weeks without an analog. A coworker thanked me via her facebook page. Another friend gave her husband one for his birthday and he's loving it. Now her brother wants one too. And there are two more coworkers who have tried to order the Elite 808 from CigEasy on my recommendation but they're out of stock right now. So that's 6 people I've sent CigEasy's way... cripes, I should get some free cartos from them!! I just love it when a conversion actually works!!

Sounds like an enterprising supplier could start offering referral bonuses

Many of the vendors have affiliate programs or offer coupon codes identifying referrals. Just off the top of my head V2, Bloog, Volt, Blu, V4L, Liberty Flights, Totally Wicked used to but had something going on with their system, and Volcano I believe. There are probably others, but those are just the ones I could think up quickly.
