Some updates for the hardware crew..

Got the new kayfun in.. that makes 5 now. ;)

Also picked up a coiling thingamabob from the crafts store, and then bent an available hanger into a new mandrel. It didn't have anything in the 2mm range, and the hanger I just bent is approximately 2.25mm, so just shy of 3/32.

A lot of folks in the micro-coil thread are using the coiling jigs and very happy with results.

Just how are those coiling jigs supposed to work?

Never mind I figured it out. Was actually try to make something similar that I could hook up to my drill, (no power applied, of course) but that may have been overkill.

But what is this "coiling thingamabob" you speak of?

I posted the specs probably while you were typing this , if I get by BK's sometime for a beer drinking coil wrapping session I'll have BK post pics , I have a camera but the browser on this playstation is very limited , BK was more concerned about the amount of cotton used than the actual coil itself although I can make them a lot better now than 3 months ago , that R91% clone was a picky PITA compared to the 3.1's but I wasn't gonna go down without fight .

OK, I see it, the post just before mine. Thanks.

It's this one Chak: Artistic Wire's Coiling Gizmo Deluxe Econo Winder - Lima Beads

I got it a a local arts and crafts place and paid $15 for it.

Here's how it's used. Super_X from the Microcoil thread demonstrates it.

Could not be easier.

reosmods.com then scroll over SHOP, click Mods to open new window. Click Woodvils.

The Man is truly an Artist amongst Mod Makers. Enjoy
They will read OUT OF STOCK until Sale Night, but you can click on the ones that you like for larger pictures.

EDIT: Word from REOVille is not all of the Mods are on display yet. More to come.
Correction; redeyedancer has just announced Sale Night will be Feb 28th at &pm EST !

just made a prototype of the jig handle but I added a twist to it ... literally

no need for the nuts washers bolts... just slip the wire thru the hole and back around again.. locks it into place, wind away.

I haven't used my Reo mini in a long time either. I got to a happy place with my Provari.

I probably should buy a VV Grand, but it's about the same price as a Provari, and I think I'll buy another Provari first.

My Grand pre-dates my Provari's too. I bought one Provari, then another Provari, and never did end up getting the VV Grand when it came out.

Maybe once Rob introduces the DNA 30 in there, I'll get another.. ;)

I didn't do the nut/bolt thing either. I just twisted the wire around the gizmo arm, and it worked just fine..

Alright, I need some of you geniuses to help me out here...
On a Swap Thread (Not the Classies) I am involved in a discussion that boils down to this;
I make and give: 10 dual coil cartos, 10 single coil cartos and 30 hand made coils for RM2 @ 2.0 ohms
I receive : a working REOS mini 14500 (silver w/ red door) and an RM2
The Lady I am discussing this offer with is an elderly REONaut. She claims she rarely has used this mini as she prefers her Grands. She wants the cartos for the upcoming Woodvil sale, and says she struggles to make coils and has been buying them at $4.99 a pop. I have offered 30 coils, and warned her that she would need a needle threader to get he cotton wicking in, which she said she can do.
Now a couple of questions: What is sturdier- 30g or 28g wire ? How would you mail coils, as many as thirty (or More) ?

28 ga is thicker wire. I'd just wrap then in styrofoam sheets. they should be safe.

Thanks. She has accepted my offer, though I asked her not to ship the Mini until I have her coils ready.
And, seeing as how my voltmeter just crapped out, guess I'll need one of them too.....

I prefer 30 ga myself. It heats up a little quicker. But some like 28ga. Almost six of one, half dozen of the other.
