As that guy on The Waterboy would say, "You can DO it!"

Done deal!!!

Yo, my first attempt I used the 400 SS mesh that came with the AGA T2, which is 4.5cm x 4.5cm and clipped it down to 3cm x 4cm. Then torched it with my lighter. Rolled it over a paper clip and wrapped the wire that also came with it around 4 times. Put it on my Vamo and it was reading something ridiculous like 3.8 ohm. Pressed the power button briefly, this time it read around 1.5 ohm. Put a couple drops of juice on it and fired it up and was checking for hot spots. Think I had one near the top. Played with the coils a bit checked the ohms again and it read 1.3 then 1.2 then I got 1.1ohm and a low ohm warning - played with the coils and popped it on the next burst. :grr:

Oops. Forgot to add more juice!

Second coil with 32g Nichrome and the same mesh came out reading 1.5 ohm fresh and while I use it a bit it drops to around 1.2 - 1.3 ohm. Filled the tank with CAT and fired it up at 10.5 W and she vapes just fine. :toast:

Anyone know what type/gauge wire they include with the AGA T2?

Electronicstix.com has pre rolled 400 mesh... I just oxidize them!

Thanks for the tip, Susaz. If I ever get frustrated rolling my own, I'll know where to go. :)
I may try a silica wick next.

I saw the SVD when I went to VapeRev the other day. It is ENORMOUS! If you think the Vamo looks too big with an 18650 in it, the SVD is NOT the thing you want. The model I looked at was not the final production model as it was explained to me that Innokin will be making changes. The screen placement and button placement should be considered as well. Since the screen lays vertically, it will appear upside-down depending on how you hold it. It was well built and machining was better than most anything coming from China these days. The iClear clearos looked like they blew serious clouds.

Yeah, Phil Pbusardo said as much, and more in a review of the preproduction model and gave it an overall thumbs up. Seems to do really well with two stacked 18350's. Damn thing is lonnnnngggg though, ain't it? ;)

And yes, really want to check out those iClear 30's!!! :headbang:
Looks like both Pb and Grimm Green like them!

So my first try at rebuilding a Vivi Nova coil. First one the silica wick fell apart and the wire wasn't long enough. Put that one to the side. Second one I have a coil! I finally see vapor coming off when test fired. How do I check the resistance of this head without a digital readout PV? I do have a multimeter though. Where do I put the red and black leads to check this thing? I think I need to use a smaller nail to wrap the coil as it seems a little loose. But I made my first coil! Before I put it on a tank I want to check the ohms...but where and how?

EDIT: So I put the black on the threads and the red on the center post that screws into the PV...it's saying 2.7 ohms. But it sure is flipping around a lot. Does that sound like I'm testing this correctly? I'm not seeing a whole lotta vapor. I think I'll put it on a tank and try it out! I think I did see one "hot spot" where one wrap of the coil glowed very bright red. I used the nail to fiddle with it so we'll see. I really need to find a smaller nail as I believe it's just too loose.

RJ, first set your multimeter to check resistance in the closest setting above what you expect the coil to read (in my case, the setting is 20 ohms). Before you check the resistance of your coil, check the resistance of the leads on your meter by touching the two leads together. Remember this number because you'll want to subtract it from the reading you get on your coil. More expensive meters should have leads that have close to zero resistance, but my cheapo $10 meter from RTD has 0.5 ohms resistance, so this step can be important! For instance, my Boge LR carto reads 2.6 ohms on my meter, but 2.1 ohms on my ProVari. That's because of the resistance in the leads on my meter.

To check your coil's resistance, put the positive lead (red) on the center post on the Vivi Nova. Then put the negative lead (black) on the threads. 510 connections use the center pin for positive and the threads for ground (negative). Thanks to AltSmoke for this pic:

Congrats on making your first coil! It gets a lot easier with practice. :)

Have you tested your voltage loss under load? I'd be curious how it performs now that you have exposed the brass contacts. Is the button contact brass too?

Sigelei has a new mech mod called the Natural too. There's a coop starting out for it. Nice looking for $25. Flat top, bottom side button and the vendor has confirmed that the new models will have brass contacts.

I saw this post while at work yesterday. Do I need a new mod? No, not really. Did I sign up for the co-op? Yup...

First co-op! I blame ECF for my bank account constantly being empty.

Hey Thanks! My meter showed 0.5 when touching the leads together...so that means I made around a 2.2 ohm coil. Six wraps!!! It's just not glowing red every single time like my other heads. I hear it sizzling...I'm just not sure about it. I think I need to make another one with a more closely wrapped coil. hmmmm

So fiddling with this 28g kanthal today I will say its kinda tough to wrap. Little more rigid and kept leaving gaps between coil and wick. Plus I really need to just run this mesh under a lighter and not torch it. The last time I made a wick I just flamed it with a lighter and it worked great. I had a good coil on the 28g and pulsed on the mech mod but juice was tasting a bit burnt. Maybe I'll give it a 4/5 next time to get me near 1.1 or so. But I feel comfortable pulsing it on the mech mod now without thinking its gonna blow up in my face.

I got vapor on my very first homemade coil!!!!!! It's not great...I need to let the juice soak in for a little bit. But it's working!!! How exciting! So it's around a 2.2 or 2.3 ohm coil, six wraps, 3.2 kanthal, 2 mm wick. I was reading that most people use 3.5 mm wick. My first coil that just fell apart and was too short was wound around the wick instead of a nail...I may try it that way next. It's a pain in the .... to try to thread that silica through the coiled wire. I will be buying me some yarn very soon. I think it would be much easier to work with.

YAY!!! :vapor:

So I'm not getting much vapor and my twist is getting hot when it normally doesn't. I think I need more practice! But I keep hacking up a lung with every inhale the past few days, and I just about can't vape whatsoever but yet I'm not sick at all. This is vape related. I'm not sure what's going on. My slow computer is also frustrating me and I have so many chores it's not even funny. I'm over and out! But I'm chunking this coil...I don't trust it. But my confidence in rebuilding is big and I'm excited that it's not hard at all. Just need to refine my skillz is all. ;)

Time for me to grow up and jump into "big boy" vaping. I have avoided it as long as I can. I think I am gonna bite the bullet and get me a couple of AGA T2's. They are not expensive and look as cool as it gets. Hopefully I can master the process of getting the things to work. Here goes nothing...

My next rebuild to try is my Phoenix RBA. I'm feeling like I can do it! If I can master the Vivi head and Phoenix...I may get me an AGA T2. Happy vaping and I'll see y'all later!

I got 1 AGA-T 1st gen and 2 T2's on the way. I quite no neatly love tinkering with this stuff. You really can't go wrong with the aga. It's def a learning curve but not hard if ya know what I mean. I think once you get them you will see what I am saying.

If you can rebuild a vivi head then you can most certainly do a Phoenix. I am about to hook up a vivi head myself soon. And if you got a Michaels craft store near you they have the cotton yarn. Lemme know if you need more details.

I recently purchased CCV 1.7 Cartos (resurrectors) to put onto my REOSmini. The bottom-feed mod makes it easy to keep the carto filled, and these cartos improve the Vapor and seem to slightly increase the flavor as well. Just filled the second one with BladeRunner and it really tastes good ! So good I'm quickly moving away from my Twists/ T3's and enjoying this mini once again.
This may sound piddling to some, but all I want is a really good vape ! :vapor:

Hey, way to go RJ!!! :toast: nothing to it, is there? Both of us need some more practise - mine came out a bit on the low side. Occasionally, the Vamo will read 1.1ohm and and it won't fire. I can still use it on my Odyssey though, but like you, I'm not getting as much vapor as I think I should be getting. The coil may not be heating evenly across the whole coil.

Yup, need to grow a pair of balls to match those paws of yours. I know you can do it, especially since I found out how easy it is. Just need a bit of manual dexterity and a touch of patience to fiddle with finding the hot spots.
