The impression I got from the one time I watched that video, was that ss mesh doesn't really wick. But maybe I or the guy in the video, was wrong.

The SS wicks work on capillary action much like soldering a pipe. When you solder, you apply heat at one spot on the pipe and then touch the pipe with your solder and it races towards the heat.

Same idea with a ss wick. The coils heat the top of the mesh which draws the juice towards the coils to be vaporized.

I have found if I roll my mesh too tight sometimes they will not wick correctly. They do also take a little bit of breaking in.

I have been slowly checking out the APV and mod forums as curiosity gets to me, but I'm definitely technically challenged and don't have a lot of spare time. So my basic little setup is workin for me.

Thanks Jw, that makes sense actually. I do plan to get some ss mesh and try it in my RBA someday. I need to get a few other RBAs as well, love the one I have so far, but it does have leaking issues (Vision Eternity), though I may have figured out how to avoid, or at the very least, deal with, the issue.

What RBAs do you guys or girls recommend?

Ms Amy...there is absolutely nothing wrong with your Twists. Many people use them. I've used them. They are affordable and as effective as any PV out there. The fact that you say your basic little setup is workin' for you comes as no surprise. Take it from me..ECF says I'm a PV Master.

I still have the ProSmoke Kit pristine in its box. I bought it along with a V2 kit, used them for about a week, found ECF and bought my first eGo. End of story.

So this DiD thing.... I've never done ss mesh wicks so I'm a rookie, not sure my wick is wicking as good as it could. On my third coil now. The first one was working OK, till I popped it. The second one sucked. This third one is doing pretty good so far. 2.0 ohms. I like them higher, but just turn down the volts and it's fine.

Comparing it to a Nova which is what I've been mainly using.

I got it because I keep hearing how much better the flavor is with mesh, but I'm not really seeing that. I've run a tank of DF and a tank of SF through it, and I can't really tell the difference between it and a Nova as far as flavor. If there's more flavor it isn't enough to put a number on. Of course, it's a clone, and like I said, I'm a rookie with one of these.

TH and vapor are different from the Nova though. This thing hits like a mack truck. TH with 100% VG at 12 mg nic is on the verge of being more than I like, and the vapor is really outstanding.

Novas are famous for burning juice fast. This thing has them beat in that respect. Sheesh.

Genesis coils take a while to get down. I'm pretty good with electronics and fiddling and I'm just beginning to understand the nuances of these ss wicks and coils. I can say this; even if you have a good coil set up, If you find the flavor isn't that good, your coil setup isn't good enough. Once you get a perfect setup, it's like "wow, this is what everyone's talking about". You'll get it and you'll know it when it happens. For wicking issues, use only #500 ss mesh and roll those wicks TIGHT. The more solid the wick, the better. The center should be a tight pinhole. Use A1 Kanthal 32 AWG when you're starting out. You'll get less shorts and you don't need as many wraps to get a 2ohm coil (about 4 wraps). Using the "drill bit method" is OK to make a coil but I'm finding that better flavor comes with wrapping the wire around the solid wick in place. The coil should be touching the wick on all sides without being too tight. The seam of the wick should face the center post so the top coil doesn't touch the seam (that's how most top-leg hot spots are caused). Once you've successfully done 6-10 coils with the 32 gauge wire, move to 30 gauge. It is lower resistance and will take more wraps but it is more resiliant and give better flavor. This stuff takes practice like nothing else. It has nothing to do with dexterity. I can say with confidence that if you use 500 mesh and roll it solid, you won't get wicking issues and can vape near vertical. Yes, gennys do use a lot of juice fast. It's worth it.

I have several eGo's of varying mAh and types c, twists etc.
My pride and joy right now is my white silver bullet kicked.
I will be purchasing a few more soon at tax time. I'll probably get a VAMO or anyvape cvi. A cheap mech mod, and a box type mod. That way I can try the different types at good prices figure out what I really like and step up to a trophy type (ihybrid, provari or reo).

I run with a did clone and aga-t just over a month with the geni's and I am totally in love with them. Everything else now seems so muted flavor wise. The did clone has worked great since day one, and the original aga-t needed a lot of modding but its working awesome now

Have a few vivi nova reg and minis.
I do like t2's.
T3's are good but I can't get over filling from the bottom and I don't like not being able to use 510 drip tips on kangers either.
Got a Phoenix for dripping .
Planning on getting an oddy clone I like how you can seal it when out and about.

I will get an a9 or cobra when the timing is right. Maybe a real oddy if I like that.

I am also looking into building my own mech mod with genny. My friend owns a fabrication business and is very interested as is my brother who is an electrical engineer. Could be awesome but who knows.

I just built a 1.1ohm coil on my new mech mod. Oh...my...God. I didn't know juice tasted like this. You really need an unregulated mod to get the full effect. 13 watts on a 1ohm genny coil IS NOT what you think it is. Oddly enough, Busardo uploaded this today. I totally agree.

Agreed. I started out with the twist and ended up accumulating three of them. After I got the provari I gave two of them to vaper friends but I still love mine and it's about all I use for dripping unless I'm in phoenix mode. Empire Mods makes a glossy black drip shield for the Ego that fits flush down over the threads and with a matching drip tip it looks sweet.

Xfoo, Pbusardo's video and your experience mirrors mine, exactly. When I figured out the 4/5 28g wrap (about 1.1 ohms) on mechanical mods I had my epiphany. I now have 3 genny's with a 4th on the way and they are my at home go-to devices. A 3/4 30g wrap works great as well.

The lowest wire I have is 30g but I ordered 28g today (with 2 more 18650 2000mAh bats). I'm on a 3/4 30g wrap right now with Gandy and so pleased with it, words do it no justice. I have 4 AGA-T2 right now and 2 Smok AC9 clones ordered in a co-op. The toughest part now is deciding which juices are worthy.

Link to the AC9 "clone" coop. There is little info on it so it's a slight risk, but it is SmokTech so at least a reputable manufacturer. It's live but I think there may be room. Read the OP.

The new AGA-T w/ ss and glass is the AGA-T2. There's a coop in the planning for that too.

Some people called it the AGA-T+ with glass tank, some call it the AGA-T2. There's a co-op running right now where you can get 'em for $14. The guy running it is great... just picked up a couple myself in the last round. Might just be worth getting verified for.

A 3/4 wrap means your finished wrap will have 3 full coils across the back and 4 across the front of the wick. The top coil only crosses the front of the wick so that's where the 4th coil is when looking from the front.
