By the way, the Provari is great. I received it on the day we learned about Catpire, which took all the fun out of it. But it is a quality piece and may be the last PV I'll ever need to buy (except for replacement Twists and Spinners).

I'm tired of gadgets and just have no interest in them. I don't want to futz with rebuildable atomizers. I don't even want to rebuild my Vivi Nova coil heads. At $2 - $3 each, I'd much rather buy a few of them every few months than dork around with wicks and kanthal wire and all the trial and error involved.

I have a Silver Bullet, a Baby Bullet, a Mini Reo, a Lavatube, several Twists and Spinners. And I just got a Provari. I don't think I'll be buying any more gadgets for a long time. If one of my Twists or Spinners dies, I'll replace it but that's it.

And my guess is you are as happy vaping as anyone else. :)

Nice Pap. They are nice to be sure. It does feel like it will last quite a long time. They may go obsolete before they break.

And also I understand the Catpire thing. I received a VAMO and a bunch of HHV juice the same day and it just didn't matter. Sometimes it's easy to forget what is important.

I like that idea. My first thought was September 12th, which would be the one year anniversary of his first post on the Big Thread, but that's such a long time from now.

Yeah, that would be a long way away. Maybe we just pick a Saturday or something. Just cuz. And there would have to be wide support for it. Maybe others will weigh in. Z was a good guy and I still miss him. I did when he was posting less the last month but he always said he would be back so it wasn't as bad then. How easy/hard would it be to turn our avatars into Catpire for just a day? Geez, I need to hit the rectangle.

A thought for the morning General: You mentioned just going for 28g wire once you go RBA. There is a video in this thread comparing a Provari with a mech mod, and the differences in how you need to wick and coil them. Your Provari will not tolerate a low res coil like a mech will. 28g will give a very low res coil, below what that Provari will fire. For instance, my mech will fire this 28g coil, but it's too low for my Vamo to even read, much less fire. Just FYI. Xfoo could give you more info I'm sure, but that's my 2 cents.

For April, you're wanting to get into the world of mechanical mods. I can see what Bronze means by being possibly more gadgety. A mech will fire a low res Vivi Nova or similar, but they are particularly suited to firing ultra-low resistance coils like a AGA-T. That's where the magic happens. One consideration is that you need to check the battery with a meter so you don't drain it too much. A Provari or Vamo, or a Lavatube will do that for you, and shut it down when it gets low. You're on your own with a mech mod in that sense, even if you use Vivis or cartos or whatever. Another thing is, if you want to take full advantage of that unregulated battery, a genesis-style atomizer is the shiz, big time. But there again, you are on your own. You HAVE to make your own wick and coils. THAT is what Bronze means, I think, when he says the Caravela et al are more "gadgety." Correct me if I'm wrong General. Just a heads up.

I think you're referring to this video from Ninja. I think I PM'd Bronze the same vid since he's on the Provari and wanting to understand the genesis craze. The video attempts to gain the optimal genesis experience on a regulated mod like the Provari. Long winded but it does explain a lot when trying to understand the differences between mech mod and reg mod genesis building.

Good video there, and I think it explains a lot. I just don't want anyone going for the wrong stuff for a given application :)

I don't think the video is misleading. It should be mentioned though, that while the Provari may be able to fire a 28g wire coil well enough, the Vamo will have problems with it due to the PWM frequency it fires at. Vamos do much better with 32g wire with a 1.8ohm coil. Trying to get a Vamo to fire a low-ohm coil is like pulling teeth. Not worth the trouble. The Provari is perhaps the only VV mod which can get a true genesis experience relatively close to that of a mechanical mod.

At home I pretty much use my silver provari and at work I swich it up between a couple of 650 mah twists and my new vapage vmod which I absolutely love because its so small and fits in my hand. I got a couple of Lr 901 attys from Avida Vaper and the other one from Ikenvape that i use for trying out new juices and would have to say I prefer the one from Avid a lot better as it has a smoother draw and seemed like it was broken in when I got it. I don't like cartos at all and prefer clearos which I think have finally found the one which I am in love with and that would be the new Kanger Evod. I ordered one from SunVapers a week ago to try out and must say after using the T2s and T3s which absolutely sucked I have found my go to clearo. They have such a smooth draw, don't leak at all,has great vaper, throat hit and good clean flavor. Just ordered five more from MyVaporStore in all different colors and two five packs of the Lr disposable heads. I highly recommend them. Starting to research rebuildable attys and hybrid stuff as eventually I would like to get into that.

I agree. While I don't really like any clearo, the Evod has proven to be a nice little device. Cheap, small, aesthetically pleasing, and rebuildable. Once you get into dripping regularly or genesis vaping, all cartos and clearos take the back seat when it comes to flavor and vapor. But we all need something to throw in our pocket when we're going stealth. Better things will come down the pike for sure. This is such a fast moving industry.

I couldn't even get the Vamo to fire a 2 ohm coil without a crappy top coil hot spot. I gave up.

That's due to the distance between the wick and the pos post. If you can lean the wick towards the post to minimize that distance, you will get fewer hot leads at the top. Wrapping the top coil too tight is usually the cause of top coil hot spots too. Keep at it and don't give up. Eventually you will notice behavior patterns with these things and intuitively know how to fix them.

You're spot on Ice. April does not like to mess with gadgets. And that's fine. She's far from alone in that department. I don't think those mechanical mods are something she wants to fuss with in general as it doesn't fit her lifestyle. She doesn't want an LED mod either. So that kind of cuts down the choices. I'm confident April can learn and adjust to anything out there. She just has to be willing. So I guess we have to work on her some more. I'm convinced April could fall in love with the Provari mini (or similar) and would be a better fit for her. :)

And I'm glad you pointed that out with the Provari. I forgot all about the lower resistance shutoffs on the Provari. I think that was X who provided that vid. I need to watch that one again. Thanks for the reminder.

We ought to dedicate a day where everyone changes their avatar to Catpire.

It's actually why I modded that Avatar picture of his but figured it would get all confusing if we all wore the same Avatar. But, if we do move forward with this idea, please feel free to use the one I posted in the 36K post. It's his actual Avatar that I tweaked.

Yes, that was X who provided the vid. Thanks again.

Also, the VAMO allows you to switch out of PWM mode and into RMS.

Thanks Dusty! If there is any interest in doing something like this then we can return to that picture. Perfect!

Oh, good morning! :)

You got all this good mods and you don't wanna have an rba dripper or something? Lol how you like your baby bullet
