Hey guys, what gauge of kanthal wire should I use to rebuild a Vivi Nova 2.4ohm or 2.8ohm head? 32 gauge? 30?

Pap, I'd go with the 32ga as well. But don't be afraid to go 6 - 8 wraps to get your 2.4 - 2.8ohms. It all depends on how fat your wick is. You'll have to experiment a little. I go as high as 10 wraps on two strands of 1mm silica. I get about 2.4ohms. It barely fits in the head chassis and you have to get it off the sides for even burning. I also lay a loose strand of 3mm cotton on top and notch the cap...that's why I do a thin silica wick to begin with. But if you're just trying to replicate what is in the Nova, I'd do three or four strands of 1mm silica with 6 - 8 wraps. Experiment from there.

Will do. Thanks for the tips. I ordered some wire and wick today. This will be my first foray into rebuilding the heads.

One thing you can do that I see few people do is to pinch your coil all the way together after you're done wrapping it. It'll spring back enough so it doesn't touch. Your left with a pretty, uniform, and compact coil.

I guess it is a mystery.

73, It kinda depends on the juice you're using and how much you vape and a few other variables that I won't go into, but in my experience, I'm usually getting anywhere from 3-4 weeks on them with HHV juice. They are quite similar to the atty's the ViVi Nova use, so I don't think you'll see much difference in life-span. But you got it right, when the flavor or draw start to diminish, that's usually time to clean or change them.

Do you do a dry burn on them after cleaning?

OH! I forgot to order mine...thanks for the reminder. I'm full as a tick from eating at Mom's and can't think about anything except getting horizontal. WHEW! I really need to go order.

Me too. Got to find a one-stop place that I can get all the supplies I need, otherwise I end up not saving any $$ as shipping is crazy and it would be easier just to buy new atty's.

Thanks. I understand the variables as I mentioned by mileage can vary.
I have dry burned one and initially for 7-10 draws, it had a burnt taste which then cleared up. I have experimented with several cleaning techniques. I used Ever Clear then rinsed and let dry. I have also soaked in water overnight. Both seemed to work just fine. The clearos that do not have replaceable wick assemblies do OK cleaning either way.

Wonder what shipping would cost for someone to buy here and send it to you? Probably about the same? Depends on the method I reckon.

I know. I just ordered 100 feet of both wick and wire from The House of Vapor. I could have gotten the wire cheaper on ebay but shipping trumps it really. I don't think I'll need any of that for a while though. All I need now is nic base. I may get an AGA eventually...but man I'm tired of ordering. What I have should last me a long long time. I really need to practice with my Phoenix. If I can wire up one of those, and get an AGA soon, I should be set.
