Veritas RDA - 2nd Build (single horizontal coil, 28ga., 10-wrap, 2.0mm ID, 1.6ohms). vaping on SVD at 7.0 watts.

Again, no problem building this setup. I kind of followed RipSpazTrippers video for the single horizontal coil and it works just fine. Still getting very nice clouds and flavor. A little bit of a dwell for the coils to heat up but at only 7 watts this would be considered normal. I'll jack up the heat eventually and see what happens. It's a cool vape the way I like it. Air flow control set at 50%...it is plenty airy. There will not be a shortage of airflow capacity with this RDA.

Retic, I used a gauged syringe to measure the juice capacity. I pumped in 0.9ml and it did not leak. It appeared full but I probably could have squeezed in another 0.1 to make it an even 1.0ml. Some of it is a function of the cotton quantity. I left long tails on my wick and stuffed it in there pretty good. Laid on its side, hole down, then rolled it around...no leaks.

One small problem. The outer barrel does not spin very easily around the deck so adjusting airflow is a little touchy with the device on the mod. I'm guess the orings will shine up over time and this will improve.

I was wondering why you never talked about that one.. now I know. ;)

Shame it did not work out. Looked like it was beautiful work.

It would have been a great mod had the guy taken a little more time on it. The tubes were not even causing several tanks not make contact with the center pin. The parts that were said to be brass were gold painted aluminium. The battery spring was substandard. However, it did all the functions a regular VAMO would do, but not worth the 100 something euro I paid for it.

Anyway, I PIF'd it to BK, because I know he likes to tinker with stuff like that.

$85. It's enough. A tip of the hat to the inventor. Pretty clever idea. Seems the 26650 crowd keeps getting larger.
I'm not really sure how much advantage they'd give over 18650's in a regulated device , they haven't really pushed the mah ratings on 26650's , I've seen some rated at 4000mah but most of the high drain batteries are 3600mah . I have some panasonic 18650's that are rated 3400mah that I use in the SVD . The 26650's really shine in mechs , they can deliver the volts and amps over a longer period of time without dropping , they deliver a more consistent vape , it's definitely noticeable over a long draw . They're supposed to be safer as well for that reason . There's a lot of 26650 mechs available now ,but still not many regulated devices available yet , probably more to come though .

retic, it has to be a good milliliter or more. I'll measure it more precisely on my next build. And I'm guessing all of these direct air flow RDA's perform very similar across the build spectrum. I'm thinking it is the "other" features that would attract or detract depending on the person. I like something that doesn't leak so I'm drawn to the Veritas. Some people think building vertical coils is a PITA and wouldn't like it (though I find building a dual coil a cinch on this thing). Some people wont like the three post design and prefer a four post like the Viking or Plume Veil, or a two post like the Magma. Who knows what all people like and don't like and for what reasons. I gave up trying to figure it out a long time ago.
I'm gonna try going in a different direction for awhile , Since I've dropped the resistance on the Heron clone the flavor is outstanding on it , I'm gonna pick up some 26ga and shoot for .7-.8 ohms on it and see where that takes me , it really looks good on the Stingray X so it's become a matched pair . I'm also gonna order a Rose clone this week , I'm still trying to decide between the Infinite and FT versions , whichever one I get will be built with dual 28ga coils at .7 ohms , should be interesting . I'm still gonna grab a big Magma to go with the Panzer , I've located a 30mm SXK version , they're the manufacturers of Infinte products so it's a no brainer for me , God knows what the juice capacity is on this monster but the price is right . amgaM RDA (30mm) Clone by SXK - Eciggity

I'm finding there is no role for 26 gauge or thicker for a cooler vaper like me. Doesn't matter if it is single or dual coil. Just takes too long to heat that wire at the lower power settings. For those who like to lay the wood to their coils, 26 ga (or even 24) would be ideal.

A single coil in the Heron shouldn't present any problems , I'm at 1ohm with 5 wraps of 28ga , if I want to go lower or stay at 1ohm and gain coverage it'll have to be 26ga , to get to .7 or .8 would be impossible with the 24ga Gplat I have , there's not enough room to stuff enough wire in .

You must be at 2.5 - 3.0mm ID on those wraps.

2,5mm , a 3mm won't fit in the Heron without shorting out , I am hot on the trail of getting the Heron dialed in , I gave more attention to the Magma being the lazy builder that I am , the Magma is a much easier build so the Heron has been on the backburner for awhile

No this is my Hcigar Stingray X from Vape Royalty , Calve sent me a genuine copper Stingray that got dropped and needs sorting out , BK doesn't like Stingray's but he might change his mind when he gets to try my X .

ummmm nope... Im sticking with the Panzers..... :)
once the finances settle out, the single tube copper will be ordered...

Yeah David, I sorta lied. But not too much. I'm buying cheap clones so it's not breaking the bank. April wants to look at some drippers so I'm helping her. I've done all this research so I don't want it to get old and out of date again. Takes a lot of time to research the latest and greatest, yuh know? :)

I love how me asking you if you had a magma or larger capacity dripper turned into you buying 2 new drippers. :)

I'm glad to hear the Veritas is working out for you. That's been my front runner. Although I'm still not convinced many of these are good matches for me and my sole Provari.
