Sounds crazy, but I feel a certain obligation to wait for the new kayfun. The originals made such a big impression that I feel I owe it to SM to see what they come up with for an encore. They deserve it. I just hope it's not a disappointment.

BTW, if y'all recall, the biggest complaint with the original KFL was that it leaked out of the fill screw. People were using o-rings and teflon tape to keep them from leaking (then they added an o-ring on the KFL Plus). I'm happy to report mine never leaked from the fill screw and still doesn't leak there and it is the original screw. Guess I got lucky.

All 4 of my original KFL's are still running the original screws that they came with. Lucky x4 for me. :)

Seemed most of the people with the original-original KFLs had leak problems from the fill screw. Remember that? We got ours from InTaste...don't know if that made a difference or not.

Honest opinion, I think folks were mistaking the condensation that collected out of their air-flow hole as leakage from the screw.

Yup, and they still think it's leaking. :)

I've noticed across ECF and YouTube the KFL takes a lot of hits. Lots of KFL bashing. People get a new atty and say how much better it is than a KFL. It reminds me of Tide laundry detergent. Every competitor compared their detergent to Tide saying how much better it was. It's kind of a left handed compliment when you think about it. The KFL set such a strong standard in tank performance. It's like a badge of honor to be bashed. It's going to be interesting to see Round 2 when the new KFL is released.

We measure Moderator efficiency much the same. The more hated a Moderator is on other forums, the more efficient they are in here. Classwife sets the industry standard. :)

Ofcourse some of us are loved all around. Can't help that, right Robin?!

Anyone familiar with a Double Cross RBA ?
Not me but I kinda sorta remember David mentioning a Double Cross .

That's what happens when you set the standard so it is a compliment , it's a good thing for us that they have been surpassed , it gives us even more to look forward to .

Anyone familiar with a Double Cross RBA ?

Zenith? I have experience with a Double Cross Zenith V2 from Kidney Puncher. I hope I got the lemon of that generation, but I did hear of at least one other with the same problem. The 510 threads were whacked so far that I ordered a tap & die set to fix it (OK, I initially ordered that set to fix the oops I made on a Cyclone when trying to mod it for BF). Once I fixed the 510 threads, it was an OK dripper - standard 3 post, large chamber, but very ribbon wire friendly. I didn't spend a whole lot of time trying to find the best setup for it (I think I got Magmatized while waiting for the tap & die set to arrive) so I may not have built it to its potential

But that IS the atty that I put my first zipper coil in, and it is doing VERY well now. I mentioned it in this thread, http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...6596-lets-talk-hardware-280.html#post14347749

My other drippers are either small chamber, dome capped (for flavor), or reduced/engineered for flavor such as the Veritas. They all beat the Double Cross Zenith V2 for flavor.

The reason I asked is that I read something today that states the RM5 is a Double Cross that Rob O'Neill has remodded into a bottom-feed RBA..

I haven't looked into that. I'm sure Rob wouldn't let any bad threading issues (I think I had one of only a few lemons) go through. Still haven't looked into it, but I wonder if he's using a newer revision than my V2? I'm running a BF Cyclone on my REOS and a BF Odin on my other BF mod. I suspect I'll put Nuppin' on that Sumpin' and move the Odin over to the REOS. But timing is everything while riding the crest of an industry wave.

My KFL from InTaste had the same problem. And that was back when KFLs were nearly as hard to find as unicorns. Very minor leakage from the fill screw that was definitely not condensing from the air hole. The leak showed itself as a little ring (think coffee cup ring) on any mod I put it on. Certainly not a major concern - especially since I came to the KFL from those tilt-n-leak genesis atties of that time (and seriously leaky clearos before the gennies). I used one of those o-rings from the keychain screwdriver to stop it. When that wore out I tried the plumber's tape. I ended up using neither before long, though. Just not enough leakage to sweat about. :)

My InTaste KFL+ with its o-ring never leaked from there at all. Again, not a condensation issue.

I haven't looked into new KFL rumors elsewhere, so HHV's hardware thread is where I expect to read all about it - hint, hint :)

    OK. My LP/SL Grand and RM5 has shipped. :toast: Now for some serious questions about dual coils;
Please Keep in Mind (!) I am not interested in cloud chasing. I prefer a smooth, cool vape. I am trying to find more flavor in a dual coil.

    1) The RM5 is listed at 22mm in diameter, nearly one and a half times the diameter of an RM2. Is there a way to get two separate 3.0 Ohm coils into that much space ? and if so, what wire/ diameter for these coils ?
    2) Adjustable Air Flow- I wonder if I could keep the vapor cool by either starving or feeding more air ? Less air might actually inhibit heat....
    3) why does someone my age still get excited for New Toys ?

    1) Likely
    2) More air should keep it cooler
    3) I dunno

Pop, if you like a cooler vape and don't give a rip about clouds then a single coil will be best. But by all means, try the dual just to experience it.

    1) Assuming it's based on the Zenith, I think you'll have lots of room, using purt near any size wire. That zipper coil I put in my Zenith has 6 strands of 28g and measures 9mm long (wide?)!

According to the advanced mode at Steam Engine, a dual 30g, 2mm ID, 1.5Ω setup takes 13 total wraps and measures out to 3.2mm wide. I haven't verified that width measure with my regular coils since I just found out about it.

    2) More air makes for cooler vape IME. FWIW, the Zenith V2 can have a single air hole open. It looks different on the outside than the RM5, though, so I can't tell if that's an option.

    3) That's how we stay young!
