It knows because it's very smart
I think it has a lot to do with the nickel itself, although I hear it's been reading some Ti coils.
Does it wash dishes and make your bed too? Or is that beneath its abilities?

Hmmm...odd. Can't figure that one out. That sounds like a boost feature. That would be cool if you got it on Kanthal. Boost is awesome!
Not yet. I'd like it to vacuum.Does it wash dishes and make your bed too? Or is that beneath its abilities?![]()
You have to remember I've gone from a twist to the 18350, to a double 18650. I'm thinking you're probably right (like you usually are).![]()
You're probably right about the price being high , we'll have to wait and see how much and if it's justified .I'm trying to refrain from speculating. It's hard not to. I just get this feeling they are going to charge a lot of loot for that thing. My understanding (knowing I could be totally wrong), is that you order your kayfun the way you want it. In other words, it's a buffet of options and you just check off what you want. But I'm not sure on that. Just going by what I briefly heard from someone who is probably taking a stab at it himself.
Next question. How does the dna know it has nickel wire on it? Or is it just a resistance thing? It reacts accordingly to very low resistance and that it is nickel is of no concern to the DNA?
I need to figure out what it is doing. It was my understanding that the temp control (boost) worked only with nickel.
I'm up and running in regular mode. It's nice. It feels good in my hand. Now I'm antsy to get going with the nickel builds.
$390 for that gizmo in that vid David posted is robbery. Bend over big time!!!
Very true. I carry 60ml a day with me so no big deal
Oh damn! No I haven't. I'll take an exact measurement for you later.
Nickel is very low resistance and goes up as it is heated. The DNA uses this to calculate the temp. With kanthal the resistance is higher making it think it is over heating and puts it into temperature protection. Boost only works in TC as far as I know. Say your coil is .15ohm and you set it at 400 degrees at 30 watts. When you fire it the DNA will run the watts up as the temp on the coil rises to a max of 30. When the coil temp hits 400 it will bring the watts down to a point that maintains the temp you pick. From what I've been reading if you set the watts higher than the setup can handle it will hit temp protection. Or if you have a short or a hot spot. I think that's the basic idea in non-tech talk. About the best my simple mind can handle. Of course I could be way off base also.
