decided to mess around with some 24 ga wire and delve into a subohm build on the little toad... did a dual 24 ohming in at .28.... ( 24ga 4/3 wrap on 3mm shaft) now I see why they do 0 3 6 nic juice, 18 will choke you up in a hurry and its still not producing really heavy vapor as what Ive seen elsewise. altho I do have to admit the flavor density is thick, too thick...for me. Like trying to breathe thru a wet towel.... if my math is right its doing 65 ish watts at about 15ish amps

at least I now know what it takes to build one....

A little show and tell for you. I cut a 3 inch piece of 28 gauge wire and .8 ribbon wire. I torched both and checked ohms. Both were 2.2 ohms. Then I did 9 wraps on a 5/64 bit. This is what they look like. I used the size that most of you use. This shows the difference.

Did this on my phone so had to fix it.

Dusty, where did you get your hcigar magma from?

Local shop that does not have a website yet. A friend picked it up two days ago, and was supposed to mail it to me. Somehow I don't think he has yet..

I'll get it one of these days. :)

Oh, btw Dusty - the other day you were saying I needed to trim my wicks. I do a slightly different setup that actually follows the KayFun instruction manual and works great with the Rayon, but tended to over wick just a bit when using cotton. I cut off a 2" length of Rayon then cut lengthwise strips around 3/16" wide. Take one strip and juice it up then roll it back and forth between my index finger and thumb, trying not to twist it too much till it's the right diameter (2mm) to fit through the coil. After that I bend it down and to the right in an L shape laying cross the deck and trim just before the edge of the deck. See pic below:

This was after about a tank and a half of sweet swish (which needs more ageing IMO). Been using this setup for a long time and it works just fine for me. Like I said above, with cotton I'd get an occasional gurgle and maybe a drop or two out the airflow hole once in awhile, but haven't had a single gurgle since changing to Rayon.

Interesting, so you build a 90* coil but still use the S shaped wick. Cool!

I'll give it a try too. Thanks Chak!

Yup, works just fine for me and even better since changing to Rayon. No gurgles, no tearing.

I used to cut ⅛" strips with the cotton, then increased to 3/16 with the rayon - gleaned from what I've been reading here.

Need some advice for young vaper. He is using Itaste MVP and Smoevesto dripper. Bought at local B&M. Stopped working after four days. MVP shows green light for several seconds. MVP will work with clearo. Sounds like dead short inside of svoemesto to me.......
Either that or the SM's not making proper contact with the 510 .

The MVP does an atomizer check if you press both buttons and hold for 2 seconds. The first number will be the resistance of the topper, preceded by "A". If the display shows "non" then it is either not connecting to the dripper, or the dripper has a short. I've also seen "0.0" when the coil had a short. If the dripper resistance is too low, the MVP won't fire.

Finally got around to rewicking my last 3.1 with rayon , I gotta say I'm pleased with the results , pure clean flavor from the first hit without the breakin period of cotton , also rebuilt the Heron clone and went with a 7 wrap 28 ga at 1.8 ohms with a 2.4mm ID instead of 2mm , I started getting gurgling after the first rebuild with rayon so I wanted to run a thicker piece of wick through the top of the chamber and so far so good it's working , I'm using probably an additional 25% of rayon over what I'm using in the Kayfuns so actually 50% more rayon then cotton .

I've missed a lot. How long ago did you get the heron? Do you like it? Using fluff or straight up? How hot you running it? I'm so behind.

I posted this after reading he first sentence and saw the word Heron. Then I read your post. My bad.
