Just got back! So excited to have this. Bronze, I wanted the ZNA for regulated sub-ohming. And because I fell in love with the form factor.

The tube is Aluminum Graphite 18650. The ZNA is awesome with the Magma. I haven't even tried the KFLs yet.

So, 30W or 20W?! It's a beautiful piece but that sticking out piece of the 18650 tube somehow just rubs me the wrong way. :)

I did not buy it for regulated sub-ohming, but because I loved how solid it looked. Knowing that it was a Zen product, I bought one for a hefty chunk of change without ever having seen or held one. I've not been disappointed yet by it. The added fact that it was made for an 18500 battery was a plus for me. I didn't care for the extended 18650 tube. I also knew that I would probably not put it through it's paces as far as what it was capable of, but then I didn't do that with my Provaris either. ;)

I was looking at the Vapor Shark DNA30 vids just for grins and I like how small and weighty it is. Looks like a solid PV.

I'm trying to figure out why you got a DNA if your max vaping wattage is 15 watts. Or did you want to be able to do some regulated subohming with your ZNA?

Obviously I'm not Dusty... but...

I got one of the Vamo 30w mods... It's output is much better than the older ( v2-v5 ) PWM versions. On my v5 I may vape my ADV at 8.5-9.5w ... on the newer one I'm vaping at 12.5-13.5w

The 30w mod has a pure DC output so if I'm vaping at say 4.7v... that is all I get. With a PWM device it turns on/off the output at the max voltage ( 6.0v ) varying the frequency to have an RMS average of 4.7v.

Well, you're going about it the right way by experimenting at different levels of power and resistance. I know retic has his dialed in but that doesn't mean that is where you will like it. It would be a good place to start and then drift to both sides to see where it performs best for you. What is the low end resistance limit on your 30?

I just dialed back to 14W. At 15.2, it was spitting juice a little and the flavor muted. But I've also OD'ed on Serendipity today. Gonna try some other flavors. I love the display having all pertinent info right there with no clicking through a menu. The low limit is .5 ohm. Below 1 ohm, the atty reading blinks, so it's blinking at .7. They said it's just meant as a warning. Kinda annoying, but I can put it in stealth mode and hide the display.

Unless running at very high hertz levels (like the Provari), I want nothing to do with PWM. Burns too easily. Yes, like you have experienced, I also had to really lower the wick on PWM mode. I just turned it off.

Minimum is .5 ohm.

So these young boys with out-of-control testosterone running these .2 and .3 ohm quad builds are using mechs?

So put the KFL on there with about a 1.3 ohm coil and jack it up to 21 watts. Take a set out side your comfort zone.

What kind of watts do you run while subohming? And how low are you going on your resistance?

Sub-ohming began being used for the mech mod crowd so they could get higher wattage outputs on a fixed voltage. With the regulated high power units now... that is no longer required for that reason at least. To get to higher power outputs, now just click the up button ( dial etc ). This frees us up to use higher or lower ohm coils just depending on what end result we want.

Now higher wattages... will allow the use of higher surface area coils and still not burn the e-liquid and still be able to heat the coils up quick enough.

Sir, yes, sir! :)

I just tried that. A very warm vape, which I like. But it's a 28ga coil with 8/9 wraps. That may not be enough surface area because after a few vapes, the juice started tasting burnt. Had to dial back to 16W.

Could be the case. I get that if I max it out at 30 watts. I think I could get it to work if I enlarge the juice channels.I wrap is 3/32 with a 6/7 wrap. But I'm also using ribbon. Don't tell anyone.
