Which wire gauge to use? Think I'll just stay out on the fringe and use my ribbon wire. Carry on.

I may get adventurous enough to try ribbon sometime. You'll be the go-to expert. :)

Man, Blake sent me this tip to check out and I got to say, it's a perfect fit for the PanMag. RJ noted that the 3 rings on it went with the 3 rings on the Panzer. COD freaks, what are you gonna do? Anyway, I wanted to post these shots. I thought it was a striking drip tip. It's quite a wide one too, easy to drip into if that's your poison.

That is a beauty! Are they available for sale somewhere? The one that came with the Stingray is wide bore, and I love it.

Yeah LA, domovapor has them. Not sure what he's selling them for, it's a new tip from a guy out there I guess. I haven't been to domo vapors web site, but he told me he's got them up.

I don't know about expert. I just found something I really like and pretty much quite experimenting and looking for anything else. I keep telling myself I'm going to lower my ohms to 1 or just under. But the 1.3 @ 21watts, 5.3 volts works so well I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I'll have to do it at some point just so I know how it is.:)

What are you vaping at those levels, David? Topper and Juices?

I have a few questions I know you gurus and "double gurus" can answer. Now that Bronze mentioned clones, what is the best Provari clone out there? Is it the Vamo?

Also, I noticed different preferences between you guys regarding the number of wraps you like to do. I notice Dust and Chak like less wraps while Bronze likes to do a hundred if allowed. So what are the pros and cons of each method?

EDIT- One more question...did all of you guys have to drop nic levels and increase VG ratios when upgrading to rda/rba's? I worry my 18mg 70/30 PG/VG juices will be too harsh now.

Also, in case this info helps, I normally vape them in clearos (T4's around 2.5-2.7ohm), on spinners/twists set between 3.9 to 4.2 volts.

Voltron, sorry I'm getting to this late, (or maybe it's just that everyone else is blabbing too much) but here's my :2c: for what it's worth (less than :2c:, I bet).

As others have said, Provari clones aren't really worth mentioning, but you can find other decent VV/VW mods that won't cost you an arm & leg. BK & Retic have the SVD mod by Innokin iTaste and are pleased with. If/when my VAMO ever goes south, I'll probably replace it with the SVD, if I don't have a REO by then. I bought my first VAMO about 2 years ago and it's still doing fine. Others have not had such luck with theirs (apparently, it doesn't drop well). Mine has had a relatively easy life and doesn't go far from the desktop, mainly because in 650 mode it's a long device.

As for coil builds, I have run a wide rage of wraps to find that sweet spot I like. For lower resistance, I use 5/6 wraps of 30 gauge Kanthal that puts me near the 1.3 ohm mark up to 10 for close to 2 ohm. I use a 2mm mandril to wrap around for those. Increasing the increasing the size of the mandril will increase your ohms as does increasing the number of wraps.

At the moment, I'm running 1.8 - 2.0 ohm on the FKLs which is nice. Getting plenty of tasty vapor. On the Magma dripper I've got dual 7 /8 wrap 30 gauge coils for 1.0 ohm, which is the lowest I've ever gone so far.

I don't change my PG/VG or nic levels for lower ohm coils, but I can see where someone might as the throat hit at lower ohms can get pretty intense.

Hope that helps.

Legend, Serendipity, and DF along with PB when I have it. It's in the KFL and the ribbon is .6 x 1.

Did you mod your KFL in any way with regards to the juice channels? I'm having a hard time picturing it keeping up with wicking past 15 or so watts. What's the PG/VG ratio of your juices?

You running this on a regulated device or a mech?

Sorry for all the questions, but I need to get to the bottom of this high wattage, hhv juice vaping mystery.

I've noticed the flavour drops off or tastes burnt once I hit the higher wattages, so colour me impressed but also colour me very confused. Pictures will help as well. :D

Thanks, Retic! The blinking is built into the DNA chip, according to the Evolv DNA 30 data sheet. It's a tiny area on a tiny screen, so it's not lighting up the room or anything. But I'd love a way to make it stop.

Here it is side by side with the Provari. Both are in 18490 mode. The Provari body is taller by 5/8".

I didn't notice if you mentioned earlier where you got your ZNA from, LA. Could you add a link for those of us with shinyitis?

EDIT: never mind the link, LA, found it on the big thread....

Got to check out a copper Panzer at the BM yesterday , Arrrrrrggggghhhhh it was even better than I expected dammit . I really need some quiet time to work on the Stingray , the switch is driving me nuts to the point that the big Panzer made the trip with me instead , kinda the opposite of what I had in mind whenI bought the X . With hindsight being the best , I wish Vape Royalty had picked this up sooner , it has the advantage of stainless over copper , but a single copper tube , less threads to worry about , and since smaller batteries would be suicide with some of the builds I try , I only use 650's . HCigar Changeling Mod Clone

I did mod one of my KFLs the other one the channels were fine. My juice is 40/60. This is on the XPV DNA 30. The Magneto has my dripper with dual coils at .5 ohm. Trapping the ribbon under the screw can be tricky but can be done. I've fixed that problem with a piece I made to help. I've used .5, .6 and .8. They all will work The .5 heats the quickest but tends to distort easy and is the weakest, like using 32ga. The .8 (is like 28ga) heats to slow at 1.3 ohm. The .6 holds it shape and heats fast at 1.3 ohm. I've pushed to 30 watts and it works but the wicking is slow giving it a slight burnt taste. I could make it work if I opened the channels some.

The switch was driving me nuts on my Copper Stingray retic. I took it apart and polished it with that purple metal polish I use. It wasn't enough so I took some sand paper, can't remember the grit, I think it was 1200, and sanded the male part just a tad then polished the parts that I thought were making it sensitive to where you had to push it to not have it click or get hung up. The switch is very smooth right now, but I won't be getting another one. After using mods like the Gus or GP, that Stingray switch just p's me right off.

But it is working good now that I spent hours on it.

The negative contact keeps working it's way in on mine and it will stop firing , it needs to stay 2-3 full turns out to clear the delrin , I can't loctite it since it's the only way to adjust for battery length , I'm gonna have to be real careful and crimp it a tiny bit with pliers to give the threads a little more bite but I'll mangle it if I try it when my wife's yapping at me , :)

I have a cousin who we met up with yesterday at a fine dining establishment in Birmingham. He tried my Herons and really liked them. He wants to quit chewing. He wants to get into vaping. I'm a bad one to ask this about as I took a lot of short cuts and ended up getting into the high end stuff very hard core.

If you were going to build an aspiring vapor a starting kit, what would you do? I plan on spending a few hours with him to get him acclimated to the gear, building coils, et.al., but am having a conundrum as to which way to take him. VV? Mech? He's very smart and probably already has everything he needs to build micro's safely.

So, toppers. I really dislike the Kayfun. And with him driving like I do, living on top of a mountain in WV., I don't see that as a good option. Maybe I'm wrong? I don't know. I'm looking for some good advice on what I can set him up with.

    Help a brother out.

Calve, to the extent a new vaper can get some seasoned help I would start him off on the nice gear if you can. yes, rebuildables. but obviously you're going to have to babysit him a lot. If you can do that, then I'd get him up and going on the good stuff. And yes, I'd start him on a regulated PV. Mechs are not for starters just from the safety point.
