Yup , I agree , I'd get as much rayon into the coil as possible without it bunching up .

Yup , I agree , I'd get as much rayon into the coil as possible without it bunching up .

I usually twist my wicking material tightly, feed a needle threader through the coil, and pull the doubled over tightly twisted wick through until it's so tight I have to keep the coil in place with my thumbnail. That doesn't seem to work either.....

I just twist the end of my Rayon and pull it through until it's tight. Move it back and forth a bit to settle it and then trim off in wedge shapes towards the deck. It's in there tight though..

I have sort of given up on rayon, it's way to risky to use with nickel. The wire is to soft and easily ruined, it's much easier to use koh gen doh.

Papaw, I think your only mistake is twisting the whole thing tight. I just twist the end but the rayon is snug in the coil. I hang a fingernail on the coil as I pull it though to keep it from distorting the coil.

I was given this rayon. I think I got it from Hollywood Waters.
This wick is in there so there is a slight drag as I pull it through, but no bunching. I trim so the ends lay on the pedestal without interfering with the chimney threading, and feather it out well but not in the center where the liquid feeds.

Makes sense for Nickel. It does not have the structural integrity to sustain a forced Rayon insertion.

Another Day, another burnt wick in a Kayfun, this time the KFL + V2.

Since retic says Clay's liquids are too thick, I drained with a syringe, washed and rewicked, and refilled with some Dunhill Early Morning. The thing that gets me is I can have juice flow so good that if I gently blow into the KFL a spattering of e-liquid comes out. An hour or two later the wicks start to burn. The ProVari is measuring the Ohms @ 2.2, so it's not like I am 'flashing' the coil heat.
This time I used rayon, only not quite as much. Twisting just the end (as Bridget suggested) I fed it through until it loosely filled the coil, barely. I replaced the chimney cycinder, and drenched the wicks. Let's see how this works......

Too little cotton is worse than too much. Experiments by Diver and myself proved that.
