Hi All,

Recently I bought a vape and for the first couple of days I was totally fine smoking. I'm a non-smoker who just likes to vape. Didn't do cigs or hookas before but used to being around smokers a lot.
Now for some reason, I may not vape for a full day and when I do, after the first 3 or so puffs, I get all lightheaded and dizzy.
Could this be related to the fact that the coil/cotton is burnt (which they are atm) baring in mind that I've been smoking the same juice which is 3 MG nicotine.

Many thanks.

Nope. Nicotine can make you lightheaded. Apparently there’s some stupid there too. Basically everyone on this forum is addicted to that stuff and CAN’T quit. Most of us have made multiple attempts using various aids which failed. Really. If you MUST vape, vape 0 nic. Really. Doing anything else is just dumb. No, vapes won’t kill you as fast as cigarettes will, but it’s not like they’re good for you. They’re just a lot less bad. We’re generally folks trying not to die here. How would anyone want to be part of that if they had a choice?

Just to comment on all those saying that I shouldn't vape: I've just had sleeve gastrectomy and I used to be a major foodie. Food was literally there to take my mind off things and now I can't have that so I thought of a the least damaging alternative which was vaping. I'll be getting 0 MG nicotine very soon but it's kind of my way out of "depression" one might say.
Any way, thanks for the heads up.

Vaping won’t help with depression. Nicotine is a quite powerful and fast acting anti-anxiety drug and a dopamine agonist.
Depression is serotonin related. Different neurochemical.
If youre having depression problems there are much better medications available. Even some over the counter ones. Nicotine isn’t going to help and may hurt.

Hey, lighten up people! We are all so helpful if some is here to quit smoking, but then you all jump all over this person who is new. There is nothing wrong with doing some 3 mg nic ( weather or not they are ex-smoker) It's a free choice thing, and a little nic is OK (please don't go over 3mg though) Also, food is an addiction too. I just watched a video and some old dude (who I think is a cook) tried vape the first time and made a comment about the pie flavored juice... how it could really help someone trying to diet and craving pie... getting the flavor without the calories. Also, maybe nic won't help with depression (I could suggest some other things, but not allowed on these forums) but vaping certainly can't hurt. How about we start over and give this person the usual welcome I am used to seeing around here? There are many bad habits... caffeine, alcohol, and so on , but we talk about enjoying a vape with our morning coffee, and nobody trips if you mention beer, so why is nicotine suddenly evil? Only ex-smokers allowed to enjoy it?
VapeNation, hello and welcome to the forums. Please learn about the vaping "lingo", like don't call it smoking... that confuses people. I suppose if you have never had nicotine, 3 mg could get to you if you vape a lot, but I wonder (like was mentioned) if you got some of the juice in your mouth... that would really make you sick. Tell us about your device, what juices you vape, and how much. Maybe we can help.

I think the attempt is to replace food, which is an antidepressant, with placebo.
I see what your doing there.

ETA: nicotine, would not be my first choice in vape adatives, but it has been known to be an apatite suppressant also.

I really don't see a problem with suggesting to someone not addicted to nicotine to avoid it so that it doesn't get them addicted. They would then have the freedom to vape by choice (on 0mg) when they wanted and still have the freedom to put it down at will for any amount of time they desire and not be controlled buy a chemical addiction.

In the end it is their choice, but I don't see anything wrong with pointing it out to a new user in a situation such as this. Addiction of any sort is a serious life changing thing and shouldn't be taken lightly.

Define “OK”
I take this to mean you have some sort of data that says nicotine is not addictive at that level?
Also, food is an addiction too. I just watched a video and some old dude (who I think is a cook) tried vape the first time and made a comment about the pie flavored juice... how it could really help someone trying to diet and craving pie... getting the flavor without the calories.
true. So where does the 3mg instead of 0 nic fit in then?

That IS the usual welcome for people picking up nic vaping cold.

“Allowed to enjoy?!” What percentage of people here do you think tried to quit smoking and failed multiple times?

@VapeNation, this has gotten a bit off topic. Apologies.

I would not suggest vaping or otherwise consuming, nicotine. It is a VERY powerful drug. I for one, understand your desire and applaud your ingenuity. My suggestion would be to stick to the low power devices. You've never felt the need to blow smoke, and you'll get better flavor too. I've found some very fine juices, in sample packs no less, that would dance across your palate and ignite your olfactory receptors. Two in particular were from a brand called vape wild, but I'm sure there are others too. Lemon sensation and their cinnamon roll. I hear they recently, but not before I tried them, changed their recipes. I noted a slightly, I want to say, off note too all their juice I tried. That could have been their nicotine though, so keep that in mind to, as it can alter the taste of a juice. The balance of flavors otherwise was delectable. I hear dinner lady is a good place to start. Lemon something, and broke dicks also, as a less expensive alternative. Sorry I cant be more helpful, but I diy exclusively, as broke dicks is out of my price range.

Hi VapeNation and welcome to ECF. First of all, tell us what you bought? There are so many different devices on the market.
Now for some reason, I may not vape for a full day and when I do, after the first 3 or so puffs, I get all lightheaded and dizzy.

Those two are classic symptoms of nicotine overdose. Since you're a nonsmoker, even 3 mg/ml combined with a huge vapor volume may be too much for you--which is why we need to know what device you're using and how you're using it.
Could this be related to the fact that the coil/cotton is burnt (which they are atm) baring in mind that I've been smoking the same juice which is 3 MG nicotine.

YES! Toxic fumes from a burnt wicking material can make you really sick! And they mean that you're doing something wrong--you really shouldn't be burning your wicks under any circumstances. For goodness sake, throw away those coils with burnt wicks and put a fresh coil in. What wattage are you at? Do you even know? We need more information. You may be using a wrong setup for your needs, or using what you've got incorrectly.

If vaping helps you with whatever issues you have, by all means, vape away, but let's make sure you don't make yourself sick in the process! :)

@VapeNation I also found some of the comments to be a bit abrupt and unfriendly. That's actually a bit unusual around here. I don't see any problem with you vaping as a hobby instead of some kind of cure-all for your problems. There are plenty of flavors to choose from and you might also enjoy learning to make your own juice. I like blowing clouds but that's just me. Vaping and learning about vaping can keep your mind and hands busy.

Since you're not a smoker, there's no need for you to vape nicotine. Nicotine can also make some juices harsh and make your experience less enjoyable. This really is a good place for a beginner to get answers.

Hi there.
I hope you stick around and find what you are looking for here.
Maybe a run down of the gear you are using and the flavours/brand might be helpful.
Could just be too much nicotine.
I wouldnt vape with a burnt coil btw.

When he was a teenager, my son used to complain about my smoking. The terrible "cough up a lung" coughing every morning, how it made everything stink, etc. I finally was able to quit with vaping.

So, same son begins to smoke when he turns 18. You can imagine what my reaction was. I said, if you are going to smoke, at least vape. He tried it and said, "Vaping's not as good." and continued to smoke. He said he wasn't addicted anyway, he could quit at any time. We all know where this is going.

Daughter (a year younger) became a recreational vaper (never smoked) and began using zero nicotine flavors. All of her friends, brother, and boyfriend smoked, and she was feeling some peer pressure to smoke herself. Ironic thing is her boyfriend and several of her friends took up vaping and gave up smoking after she had exposed them to it. Even her brother, my son. Funny how peer pressure works.

Just saying, nicotine is a known addictive drug. We can often develop tolerances to addictive drugs, meaning sometimes we need higher doses of the drug to continue to get the same "effect" we are seeking. That small dose of 3 mg nic in your vape "might" increase to 6mg, to 12mg, etc, etc, if you have an "addictive personality", which you may well have if you were addicted to food.

"Lightheadedness" and headache are usually the first symptoms of too much nicotine in your system.

Welcome to the friendly bunch :)

It's definitely the nicotine....it's a very strong chemical :)

My advice if you don't smoke is to not vape.....as simple as that :)

Sound advice, everything else being equal...

But realistically, if smoking is harm reduction from chew or dip, why would anyone start smoking if they didn't do one of those first? At least now, nicotine free is an option. How many people did Virgina Slim's hook as a diet aide? Is smoking cool? .... no.
Did anyone see the report about thecafeine related death in Australia? There are MANY dangerous things people do. Is it my job to stop them? No. Can I help them do something smarter and safer? I'd like to think so. Immidately discouraging someone because they aren't doing things exactly how or for the same reasons as me is pedantic and hypocritical. Also, take away that caffeine is just as powerful as nicotine. Both can kill.

It's the nicotine that is making you lightheaded. It's not too bright to get addicted to a substance that you are not currently. So you like to vape? Ok. You can still vape without using any nicotine at all. A lot of e-juices come in 0 nicotine form too. Or, you can mix your own. Please don't get addicted to something that you aren't right now. You will regret it!
