The last few times Ive went out drinking and bar hopping ive started the night off the same. At first im real shy and stealthy about my vaping. Maybe ill take a hit and blow it under the table or take a hit and blow it down my shirt. As the tab keeps adding up I get more and more loose with my vaping. By the time the night is halfway over there are clouds of vape rolling from my mouth. I dont get silly and blow it in people faces or make a scene but ill be taking nice big hits and blowing it straight up to save people from the mist. So far so good, no one has said anything and the nights have all ended well. Anyone else get liquid courage and relax a bit when partaking in public vape around the 4th round or so?

As long as vaping is allowed in the business establishment, I start vaping immediately. What's the big deal? So it draws some attention from people who have never seen an e-cigarette before, show them how it works and answer questions if you feel like being friendly. If not, just go back to drinking with your buddies and ignore them.

I vape in public all the time and don't understand the shyness. There are probably more closet vapors than anyone knows about. It's not illegal (unless it's posted) so don't act like it is.

Very true, its just hard to over come the stigma I felt as a smoker. I wasnt proud I smoked, I didnt do it to be cool but it was something I enjoyed and in doing so always felt ashamed. I guess it just stems from that
It's hard, REALLY hard to quit smoking. But you did it. You did it by switching to vaping. No stigma to vaping. Vape hard. Vape strong. Vape proud.

I don't think big mods are all that prevalent in the wild in the UK. In a vape-friendly bar I go to, I've only ever seen small eGo/ce4 kits around, and I always feel a bit strange vaping in the same room as non-vapers/smokers because it feels strange, and new to me.

One night, I arrived before any of my friends did and sat there with a beer. The place was full of non-vapers. I took out my SVD which is quite a long mod, and sat it on the table. No reaction from anyone. Good. Dare I take a hit? I know, I'll stealth vape. Now I don't mean do it furtively, I mean openly take a hit, but then take an extra intake of fresh air before the exhale. The result is a vapourless vape. Some interested looks, but no negative reactions. So far so good.

Then my friends turned up with their eGo kits, and commenced making tiny clouds. They were ever so curious about the SVD so I took a fairly normal hit. This was 4 beers later, so I was feeling brave. Well it's 100%VG and the Protank just produces HUGE clouds. This is why I was holding back earlier, I'm not sure of how non-vapers will react.

They were all fine with it... the non-vapers were either impressed or highly amused by it all, and no-one looked annoyed. I stealthed it after that though, I don't want to give us a bad name.... But I was pleasantly surprised by how cool everyone was with it. I guess I'll just vape like it's perfectly normal in future, but just try n be respectful and all.

Strange though, before the smoking ban, back in '98 I would just spark up a cigarette in a bar and not even think twice about it. How times change eh?

I will always ask the bar first if they are vape friendly or not. Most times theyre like yeah of course.

If its an open bar i will vape like normal. Like at home. If the bar becomes packed I will either exhale at the floor or towards the ceiling. Most people dont care but it just seems weird blowing it in someones face.
