Got my PS 510 USBpass yesterday and it works unbelievably well, however, I've found that it will only work with one power adapter that I currently own(the infamous Kensington Model#KB8021US/K33396-which is more of a power pack then an adapter). The PT will not work with my computers USB port. It also immediately trips 2 AC/USB adapters I own(Both bought at Radio Shack- both 5V one rated at 500mA the other at 1A). I'm certain the reason is the PT is drawing to much current. I had a AC/USB rated at 2.0 A but it was defective and am awaiting a replacement.

I know Steve at PS is working on a list of adapters that will work with the PT, but I thought we all could help him out. If anyone has had success with a particular power adapter, list it on this thread, with model name and # as well as where you purchased it so others can gain from your experience. It may also be a good idea to mention what type of PT you're using(510, 901, 801) as the resistances and currents pulled are most likely different(although I could be wrong about that). Certainly all atty's have a slightly different resistance, therefore, circuit will pull a different current, therefore, an adapter one person may have had success with may not work for everyone else. But at least there will be a general list of adapters known to work for the majority of PT users.

Again, I have a 510 PS USBpass and I would like to add the Kensington Power Pack(Model#KB8021US/K33396) purchased at Best buy to the list.

Kensington - Battery Pack with Charger for Apple® iPod® and iPhone - 33396

It's also available on eBay and a myriad of other online retailers.

No dice for the kensington with me, worked for about 2 weeks, then nothing! Looking for a good replacement now.

I might have found the winner here. And I guarantee you, you will not find a cheaper one on the market. Its a small AC to USB 2amp max port. Here's the link:

USB Dual Power Adapter

$1.95 for the unit and $1.95 for the shipping(order as many as you'd like)

I just got it yesterday and it works great(better then my Kensington). The only problem I can see is the shipping took a little longer then I like(about 8 days), but the guy is super easy to get ahold of(his name is Steve) and he says he will make sure the shipping improves. Mention your buying this from the e-cig forum and he'll make sure you get it quickly. He also states he has alot left in stock. They are not made cheaply either. You'll be suprised at the packaging when you receive it.

Wow. That's an IQ adapter...the same one I paid $10 for (with free shipping) I'm vaping a 510 PT through it right now, and it works great. Then again, my desktop USB 2.0 does too.

Yeah Gibby, I've heard a couple other people in other threads say the same thing about the Kensington, others swear by them and say they last forever. Mine is still going strong(fingers crossed). The APC is supposedly awesome I just can't seem to find it anywhere for a decent price. I got my Kensington on Sale at Best Buy and they've since marked them down even further. I think my local Best Buy is now clearing the Kensingtons out at $17.99 a piece. When you get your APC keep us informed, also if you find it anywhere at a good price let us know.

Ok, I just received and tested a USB car adapter. Most USB car adapters that I've seen max out at 500mA(and all that I've tested so far either don't work at all or work so minimally as to be worthless). This one is specially made for GPS devices(apparently they require more power then 500mA) and utilizes a "constant current" of 850mA. This is good for 2 reasons, #1 since it's constant current, it doesn't trip even though the PT is asking for more current, #2 it provides almost twice as much current(thus more power) as the standard 500mA car USB adapters I've seen(that have worked minimally).

Although it does work and provides fairly good power, it still is only giving you 850mA, therefore, the performance is not as intense as if you were using a Kensington(at 1.5A) or other higher power USB adapter. The performance is still good and it certainly will get you buy more then adequately. Here is a link:

I found two of the Kensingtons at local Best Buys; each store had only 1 left.

One cost $18.99, and actually has a different model # marked on it, but it is exactly the same as the 33396 (1800maH, 1.5A Max Output). It came with only a fold-up ac adapter and a USB cord. My wife commandered it to keep it her purse for her cell phone :p

The second was was only $14.99 and is marked K33396/K38021, and included the international power adapter. The wall "prongs" are interchangable. It also included a USB cord and a small zipper bag which is very handy.

Best buy doesn't have stock yet on the "iPod" specific version. The only major difference that I'm aware of with that model is that it comes with an iPod sync cable. I think they've reduced price on the old models to clear them out for the new one.

The APC Page for the UPB10 shows it to be discontinued, but there's still 2 showing in stock on Amazon, though.

That's the one I got. They are definitely clearing them out at Best Buys. I use the small zipper bag to carry all my E -cig stuff in now. All the way down to $14.99 now, Wow. I would suggest anyone who has a USBPass and lives anywhere near a Best Buy to drop by and see if you can pick one up. At $14.99 it's , literally , a steal. The original retail , as I said before, was $59.99.

I bought this as soon as I saw your post. I got it within a week (I did mention the forum). I can't believe what a buy this was! And you're right, it's not a cheaply made item. Hard plastic, with some heft to it. Plugged it in and it worked like a charm. Beats the $25 one I got from Best Buy! A little info on it.... on the front it says 5V 2000mA (whatever that mean) I'm going to get a few more to keep in different rooms, I can just drag my PT all over the house now!

So is the conventional wisdom on the power adapters to shoot for a minimum of 2 amps?

It would appear at least 1.5Amps(which my kensington is) will work. Nothing lower then that has worked for me, with the exception of the 850mA car adapter(which I posted previously). However, it operates at a "constant current" so it won't trip, but 850mA is all your gonna get. If you can live with the power drop(less cooler vapor, diminished throat hit) it is still acceptable(comparable to running the PT at 3.7V I would say). But, to answer your question directly, yes, if you can find a USB adapter outputting 2Amps at one socket, your gold.
Another, slightly more expensive option brought to my attention by forum member Quovadis(but certainly the ultimate power supply from what I've seen) is the Tekkeon model MP3300, here's a link:

http://www.tekkeon.com/downloads/dtasht_MP3300_MP3400.pdf

Adjustable voltage vaping, and, apparently more powerful then a horse. The only 2 drawbacks I can see is the price(see below) and the fact that you need to purchase 2 adapter cords to make it compatible with the USBPass. Here's some info from Quovadis from another thread:
Tekkeon MP3300
you can vape the Prodigy Pt's at 3v - 4.5v 5v 6v 7.5v

It's amazing...

I will vape on different voltages during the day depending on my mood..

here is the set up :

also:

Call Tekkeon 888-787-5888
ask for Annie.
Tell her you are from the e-cigarette forum.
You want a Tekkeon 3300 + UA - usb adapter.
Ask her for a special price of $79.95 on the unit itself.

The USB squid (4) you can find at staples.

The prodigy pass through is sold by Puresmoker

Thanks for the info Quovadis.

In the meantime Randy, you really should get one of these, for $3.90 shipped, you can't beat it. And your in Tx right where they ship from.

USB Dual Power Adapter

I just bought 1 on Wed and Steve told me it shipped out on Wed and I should get it either tom or Monday. Now I just have to wait for my usb passthru that I ordered thru puresmoker but I ordered it with the protege so I don't think I will see it for another 2 weeks. Ordered last Friday and I think there are 84 before me.

You can always ask your local MD to put you in a Propofol mediated coma for 2 weeks. I find that takes the edge off waiting for pre-orders to ship. lol....

Well needless to say my radio shack AC–USB adapter doesn't work straight, but I plugged my el cheapo deal extreme usb power pack into the radioshack adapter and then the PT into the power pack and presto, vapor!

DealExtreme: $13.83 Rechargeable USB Emergency Power Backup Pack 2400mAh

its only 14.00 and works great, I don't have a multimeter so I can't measure the voltage, but it says the output is 5v. I'm definitely getting better than 3.7, but can't compare to another 5v solution at the moment. It does cause the radioshack light to blink, but has not thrown my surge switch and iv held it down for 30 seconds.
