What is your (both of you) objection to the fixed pin? Isn't that designed to keep vliquid out of the device? Or is it more that you would just the flexibility of an adjustable? (no criticism here... I really just want to know/learn the pros and cons)

I prefer adjustable to spring loaded, and spring over fixed, but none is a deal breaker. I have mods with each, and like you, clinre, know what to do if "check atomizer" pops up.

Fixed is likely to be the best protected against juice, but the best thing for a leak is to fix it o_O

And a well designed adjustable could be as well protected, but I'm not going to tear one down to find out.

I've had/have mods with all three types and my preference is spring loaded because they just work. They do need to have the current go straight to the 510 pin and not thru the spring for a good, positive connection though.

Fixed pins are great as long as you only use one type of atomizer and it makes good contact. Once you start swapping atomizers, the bushing wears and you get erratic resistance readings from bad/no contact. This could also happen with the same atomizer over time.

Adjustable pins are better but there are different types. You want the pin to be reverse threaded so the pin doesn't move out of adjustment when you screw on/off an atomizer. The Cloupor Mini has a regular threaded pin and it moves every time I remove/replace an atomizer.

Spring loaded 510 is my favorite because you don't have to do anything and they just work every time. You just have to make sure the positive wire is soldered directly to the pin and not go thru the spring. I have mostly VariTube 510's but my Vaporsharks and Hana v4 have spring loaded 510s and they're just awesome. I don't have to worry about removing and replacing atomizers ever. No more pulling up center pins like on fixed or getting a screw driver to adjust.

No 510 connector I've seen is water (juice?) proof.

The subox/matching subtank is fast becoming my favorite combo. As mentioned earlier, it isn't spring loaded but is 'springy' and well insulated from leaks. I've tried several tanks on the Kbox mini and the only one so far that hasn't connected is the eGo one. Most tanks now have adjustable pins - the eGo one doesn't. I added a circuit board spacer and it worked. For me, I'll be leaving the subtank on the subox - it looks so good :D

It has a nice deck on the rda - easily accessible and simple unlike the kayfun and Lemos - the latter where you can change coils/cotton without dumping the tank. I still use the Lemos and kayfun and GS air M's on Defenders and istick 30's (and mini istick) because I like how they operate in general and flavor - esp. on the Lemo. The flavor on the subtank with the rda is so good, I slightly reduced the flavor component in my DIY Habana reserve. (that's not needed with the occ coils).

Perhaps in later versions Kanger will add an actual spring loaded center pin, but I don't think this was an 'oversight'. The original bigger Kbox had a spring loaded pin. As far as I know Kanger hasn't said exactly why they didn't include one on the Subox, but I don't think not having one was a 'mistake' in their engineers minds. Perhaps, they simply matched it with the Subtank and figured (wrongly) people wouldn't mind. :- ) ...OR that 'most people', like me, would have no intention of breaking up the combo. :)

I was hoping the Subox/Kbox Mini would be spring loaded.. it's the battery-replaceable device I've been waiting for! but I am disappointed to hear of the fixed 510 pin.

and to whine some more, the Defender 50w is too tall.. Kamry 30w v2, Cloupor Mini, etc.. all too boxy for my tastes.. would be nice just to have a slightly wider iStick 30w with easily replaceable battery.. would shut me up right quick!

Just so you know I was mistaken in the size of the Defender 50 (asked for an edit there since my edit time expired - thanks to alden for the correction)... the Defender 50 will be close to the same size as the 25/36W and I'll seriously consider one. :)

Size matters, yes it does!

Thanks for letting us know -- I was curious as to the various sizes noted earlier.

And, darn it all, here's another one for my list of ---dang, that looks good!

It does! Not quite as 'rounded' - more like the evic VT - but since I haven't had any problems with the Defenders I have - it's certainly on my list as well. Another Subox is there as well :)

Now I have a problem... Do I want another Defender (but with a replaceable battery) or a Subox?

Too many mods.

That DNA30 price is definitely sweet! That's about 70% cheaper than it was last Oct/Nov. With my PC upgrades, I try to stay 6-12 months behind the bleeding edge curve to try and save money. I might just have to start doing something similar with mods.:)

For me, I use clone Kayfuns (can't afford the genuine) and on some of them (I have 6) the connection doesn't make contact on a couple of fixed pin mods, but they all work on my mods than have a spring loaded 510.

Bought A Presa anyway
I know I said I wouldn't but I was interested in the small size and unique button. My wife is doing chemo and she has neuropthy. She was looking over my shoulder when I was looking at the Wismec Presa. She said she wanted to replace the crappy Istick 20 , which the 510 is a pain. Anyhow Discount Vapers had the Presa in black in stock ( now sold out ) . I got it yesterday. She loves it !! It seems heavier than a cloupor mini but not sure if it is. It is defiantly heaver than an Istick 20. The shape is great in your hand. This mod blows out any Istick. Sorry Istick lovers, I bought 5 20's and most are in trash cans. To me this would be perfect if it would have a replacble 18650 battery. However as built is really nice.

I would love to hear more about this after you work with it a while. I love the unique button and look of this one.
