I will have to get this: Evic VTC Mini 60w Mod by Joyetech | Temp Control

Can't take more than 2 mods at one time planning on retiring the VT and D2 for the VTC and VaporShark DNA200. Love both the current active devices, prefer VT, but the D2 size and replaceable battery are ideal, VTC best of both.

Do not try the Sony VTC4s.

Sony has stated publicly that they are not manufacturing these batteries - or any batteries like this - for sale on the open market. As such, any Sony batteries can be classified as a rewrap, forgery, or a pull (taken from a different, non-vaping device such as a computer battery pack) with no verifiable use history.

In reality, there are very few companies set up to manufacture these batteries. It is best to buy from large, we'll known battery producers such as LG and Samsung.

Incorrect!
Batteries are shipped to Authorized Wholesale Distributors. Those Disributors Supply Batteries to Their Clientele, be it Industrial or commercial, Retail.

Sony Batteries sold by Orbtronic and other Reputable Vendors ARE REAL SONY BATTERIES.

Your Statement is Old internet news and only backed by a Sales Reps. Statement to a Client, while Sony was moving operation to another Country/Facility.

Kat's excellent Pegasus Vapor Academy video says the best battery for a 60W-120W Mod is a 25 Amp, 2000mAh battery.

And I have been looking at the 75 Watt iPV D2.

If you are planning are running your IPV D2 @ 75 Watts then Yes, you are going to need a 25 Amp Battery. Especially if you like to run the Battery Voltage down to where the Mod will Not Fire before you recharge the Battery.

Me. I don't Build or like the Taste of a Hit at such High Wattages. So the Amp demands I place on a Battery are Much Less. It would be Exceedingly Rare for me to Exceed an 8 Amp Battery Draw. So a 20A Battery has More than enough "Headroom" for what I ask it to do.

It is Nice to do "What If" scenarios. They have a Number of Battery Presets. And if your Battery is not listed, you can Input the a Batteries Specifications that you have from the OEM.

The Joyetech eVic-VT has a built in 5000mah lipo
Evic VTC Mini uses a Removable 18650 battery
As to 5000mah claims - Not a smart idea.
Higher Mah 18650's are generally Protected lithium with very low amp limits 4a-8a Max safe drain.
The Mini would work great with a 2250mah-2600mah 20a for most people.

Thanx zoiD...When one is ignorant about a subject...s/he is quick to jump on simple-minded answers. And...Pegasus Vapor Academy's iPV D2 => 75W => "60W-120W" => 25A, 2000mAh battery seems pretty straight forward.

But you're right. As a MTL vaper I've never gone over 11W.

So...will play around with the Steam Engine to find the best battery for my uses.

(Also...not really looking at the iPV D2...since I found it has NO buck/step-down.)

I think making a Blanket recommendation of 25 Amp Batteries is Not a bad thing. Because sometimes a person might not know Exactly what type of load someone will be putting on a Battery. And Batter Safety should come First.

For me, and for the Amps that I ask a Battery to Provide, I can buy batteries in the 2500mAh range that still have More than Enough continuous amp draw. So getting 500 more mAh is a Plus over buying 2000mAh Batteries with Higher Amp Ratings.

Not exactly true.
If running TC mode it steps down as far as 10J(watts)
Kanthal/NiChrome builds work on the TC side in Ni setting at 10J-50J(10w-50w) just fine. Temperature regulation wil not function with the Kanthal/NiChrome
Just lock Base Resistance and vape as if in power mode.

Already tested by several ECF D2 owners, myself included.:D
I ran a Kayfun 1.6ohm build at 10J and actually had to bump it to 15J to get my preferred vape.

P4Y IPV D2 – step down in power mode + starts shipping @ FT | Daisychainvaper

The D2 IS capable of stepping down in Joule (Temperature control) mode. It switches from DC to PWM there. So take your kanthal build, switch to TC mode, set the Joules to your desired wattage (Joules = Watts with YiHi chips) and just to be sure: maximize the temperature.
Temperature protection will not kick in as kanthal does not change its resistance.

Originally the confusion was there because most shops just stated “Output voltage: 1.0V-7V”. In fact it is:

Output voltage: 3.6V-7V (Power mode)
Output voltage: 1.0V-7V (Joules mode)

I'm still trying to understand this "battery stuff".

If one wanted a "battery in the 2500mAh range" (usually 20A)...why wouldn't they buy the 2600mAh, 30A Sony VTC5?

(Or...is "excess Amps" an undesirable thing?)

Nothing wrong with that Battery. Some consider it the Best of the Best.

It is also one of the More Bootlegged batteries. So if you are considering getting a pair, be sure to buy it from someone that you Really Trust.

Which can sometimes be a PITA. Because the People I like to buy from don't ever seem to have it in Stock.

BTW - Having "excess Amps" is never a Bad Thing. Might cost a little more. But Batteries are Inexpensive as a whole. So spending a couple of Extra Bucks isn't that much of a Factor.

I also like itty bitty mods
I'm looking at so many ....too many to choose from...
I wish I could find one that works with the Kanger SUBTANK-MINI clearomizer 22mm, .05 Ω coil and the IMR 18650 3.7V rechargeable battery.
So I don't have to buy ALL new everything. :D

Is your IMR 18650's the old 10a ones, or the new 15a? I have a gazillion of those old IMR's, and it is what kept me from upgrading my hardware or trying sub-ohm. Now that I just passed my 3 year, I decided to take the plunge and bought a half dozen of the LG HE4's and a TC mod and sub ohm tank. I'll still use the IMR's in my mechs, but I don't trust them in a high wattage or low ohm scenario.
