I tend to agree with Katya on this. While I've never heard anything bad about the Radius, Provape has already mentioned that they may not survive. So if the elex fails, then what?

I've gone for quantity, especially since the "low" power mods have tumbled in price. So I have many. (And a few mechs with kicks and spare kicks....) Just keep my eyes open for sales on the mods I like, and grab some more when I can. And toppers are mostly all RTAs, although I still have a bunch of T3S and PT single coil types and a lot of spare heads along with the ability to rebuild those as well.

For me, getting several mods at fire sale prices leaves $$ to build the nic stash.

I do own a Radius, and while it is a very nice mod, and seems of good build quality, I have to agree with the posters above me. I wouldn't recommend it as a vapocalypse device, because indeed every electronic device can fail and it remains to be seen what kind of support will still be out there on your side of the pond.
If I had $200 to spend on mods for the vapocalypse I would buy a handfull of Eleaf Pico's and VTC mini's instead of 1 Provari......

I went for the handful of $30 Provi's, but it's the same concept. I know I can get (at least)five years out of each of those. The other might hold up too, but I opted for the sure thing.

I cannot do mechs (tried), so I needed a "regulated" solution. I'm comfortable with my decision. It works for me.

I don't think it qualifies as an "Itty Bitty" mod...but I was wondering about the Radius by Provape, and really am not familiar enough in ECF anymore to stray much past my comfort zone of my "watched threads". I was wondering something. If I happened to have a bit of a "windfall" coming up...would getting a Radius be a good idea? Does anyone have one, and is it as reliable and worthy of the songs of praise the regular Provari gets and such? I am a bit worried about the Vapocalypse (I guess most are), and only have 1 Provari 2.5, and 3 Heatvape Defenders in my arsenal of replaceable battery mods (excluding my old models mods and my mechs that go back to 2013). Would a Radius be a reasonably "safe" and good investment for the future? Thoughts?

prothingy's are fine pieces of equipment, BUT, I just don't agree with the pricing - JMO

this is almost USA built - designed and company is in GA, chipset is Texas Instruments, then built/assembled by Wismec...

- Search - 101 Vape

I agree with the buying VOLUME of the current popular devices we all see being discussed :
could buy 4 of these
could buy 6 of those

and still have $$ left to buy toppers and eJuice :pervy:

ps: altho the VT is inside battery, what a deal for 'A LOT of quality' device...

@shawnhoefer, given your collection, I'm wondering what your favorite "small" double 18650 mods are. I'm looking to add a couple to my "collection," and am not sure what to get.
I have 3 that I would consider "small" 2 x 18650. There's the Kanger KBOX 120, the iStick TC100W, and the Cloupor GT 80.

I like the battery life and handfeel of the Kanger, but the paint job is awful. Also, take the TC claims with a grain of salt. It'll do the standard 3, but claims Nichrome... that's a joke... they also claimed firmware updates, but none have appeared, yet.

The Cloupor GT 80 chip is good. One of the smoother TC vapes outside of a DNA200. The case is odd, though, as they rounded EVERY corner and edge. All tanks ('cept maybe eGo clearos) have a bit of overhang. No USB at all on this unit. This means no charging and no firmware.

The iStick is great. Everything about it is good... except the Joyetech 510.

It would be--if ProVape were to survive the deeming. Any regulated mod can experience problems with its electronic components--even ProVari. That's the weak link. And with ProVape out of the picture, our ProVaris won't be any more "safe" than any other mods. Only mechs are Vapocalyse proof. That's, of course, the worst case scenario. The fight is not over, so do your part--join CASAA, support them if you can, write to your representatives. You know the drill.

Other than that, it's your call. I only own a mini 2.5--I was very excited about the Radius, but when I saw it, I decided that it was not for me. For several reasons, including price.

Sorry I can't be more helpful--it's your call. I decided to get several different mods with replaceable batteries instead of one Radius. At least for now.

Good luck!
I can also agree with the electronics part, you can use the Provari to drive nails with if you choose, it's tough! But for the money, and the little features it offers, I can't recommend it. I also have a V2, but had to send it in once, and honestly it needs to go back again, LED screen, but it still works like a champ. I busted my ...., skimpped and saved to buy my first one, but in this day and age, I think there are better choices out there for features.
If you want something you can drop and know it will work, it's for you. If you need something that will survive and EMP, it's for you. But if money is tight, it's the only device you plan to use for the "vapeapocolypse", I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

That's the essential part, DP, being comfortable with what works for you and your peace of mind!

And, while I do have several mechs in the stash ( and 3 kicks for each....), they're liable to STAY in the box until needed as a penultimate resort. The absolute last resort will be after all the kicks fade away and they become straight mechs!

And, for those of us who tootle along, since we never really stress the electronics, they might actually last longer... heat kills more than just batteries!

I sure do hope so, Mr. Ock.

And deep inside me, I still think that common sense will eventually prevail. But there may be some pain to go through first. We shall see, as they say.

Prep and let prep.

Well, they do rebuild race car engines, often after each race. They run them at or above red-line.

Do the same with electronics and they'll need a similar rebuild.

But a Toyota or Honda (or other) used gently (and with regular correct maintenance!) will last several hundred thousand miles...

Pushing anything consistently to it's limits often results in premature failure. Some of my cheap regulated mods - you know the ones, once said to only last a year? - are coming up on 4. Granted, they don't get the use that my newer ones do, but...

You sir are wise! It's all in the use and care. I can make a harbor freight tool, in my hands outlast a craftsman tool in some people's! :)

Uh, thanks. Usually there's another three letters on the end of that when directed at me!

Hey pufZ...nice summation of currently available desirable and inexpensive Mods...

You were the one (I think) who first pointed out the incredible "hand feel" of the Wismec Presa.

After getting my first one...I started replacing (and PIFing) my other Mods with the 40W (and TC40W when it became cheaper than the 40W).

Now...the TC75W and TC100W have slightly larger dimensions than the 40W/TC40W (and, I'm guessing, are heavier with the 18650).

Are they noticeably/significantly different in hand comfort and ease of use than the 40W/TC40W?

(Also...is the TC100W the same Mod as the TC75W that has already had its firmware updated???)

..

All mine are the TC75. Very nice to hold and use. And actually pretty light as well, even with the 18650.

The 100 is a 26650 mod, not 18650 :)

@gerrymi

I've never owned the (Presa) 40 watters
but the Presa 75w is smaller than the 100w by a lot
the 100w can use BOTH 26650 OR 18650 (with included adapter)

I've toy'd with idea of 100w purchase, but yet to do so...

Thanks! Forgot about the adapter :)

Skipped the 40w myself, as I'm only getting replaceable battery mods these days. And sticking with 18650 ones at that.

For me, the 100W is even more overkill than the 75 ;)

yepper, I obviously like the Presa design (tho, still think it ugly as heck)
but kinda have a thing for small (as possible) 30mm accommodating, so came close to buying one...
wish I could find more Venti tanks

like the 'Stout' , I just have no faith in the 26650 tech that is now out
& why I got the VF Lite (wismec)

upload_2016-5-23_12-43-35.png

but I'd be lying if I said the fat 30mm Presa with an 18650 doesn't 'peek' my interest :w00t:
maybe it's the 'case' & "lanyard' that deters me...

What's the problem with the 26650 tech out now? After owning a Hades clone, I can't say I'll buy another 26650 mod anyway, but I'm curious none the less.

@Shawn Hoefer I would love to know what you think about your Smoant Knight V1 60W box mod with the Talos V1 tank? I was thinking of picking up one for my son, I really like the size/looks/form and the fact the tank can also use Kanger subtank mini occ coils (which he has tons of)
