Most LM2596 boards are limited to 2 or 3 amps. If you solder a second LM2596 chip down over the one already on the board matching pin to pin, would you double the amps out? Would it even work?
not too sure how it would work with the 2596 but I have seen other chips "piggie backed" for increased amp capacity.... normally one would see about 60% increase in capacity ( not 2X capacity) Im guessing heat transfer has something to do with it
I have two LM2596 boards I ordered from China on eBay, these are actually rated at 3 amps and I got two for the price of one. I'm using one to build a dual 14500 box mod. I was just wondering about de-soldering the chip off of the other and piggy backing it on the one I'm using to increase amperage.
as Castle mentioned, the rest of the board may not handle the amps that the dual chips will deliver... possibility that the traces will go on either the input or output side of the chip...
