Its a shame I think alot of people are turned off when going in there because of his lack of people skills, and there Oh well go somewere else attitude....

Understandable.

I have a local tobacco shop that sells nicstick liquids.
5ml for $10! Good lord.

When I acquired my very first PV, I went to this local tobacco shop. I was pretty educated in e-liquid prices, but I had a PV with pre-filled tobacco flavored cartos, empty carto's & no juice... & Noc needs his juice.
The guy behind the counter was helping me... well trying to. Everything that I asked about (that he had in the shop), he would inform me that he uses that (being juice or a carto or a tank) himself & never goes anywhere without it. He said this about everything I was asking questions about in the shop. Haha.

But needing a juice to have until my e-liquid came in through the mail, I decided to pay the almost $11 for 5ml of a juice called "Dragon Energy" by nicstick. The guy obviously stated that he only vapes that stuff & it gives a kick of energy where it "doesn't freak you out", but definitely "makes your eyes open more". Lol looking back I see how dumb this guy was. I guess he attempted to read Salesman for Dummies @ a 3rd grade reading level. (Ah that's mean. Sorry guy at local shop).

Anyone else have any experiences with outrageously overpriced juices?

in defense of locals charging 11$ for 5ml when you think about it to order 5ml online your can add 2-5$ into the cost for shipping. so if your just buying one bottle its really about right. Since online can be 6-10$ for a 5ml (shipping included) and a B&M can be 8-11 bucks for 5 ml its not as bad as some make it out to be.

this of course goes out the window if you order 10-100ml of juice from one vendor and still only pay around 5$ for shipping.

Yeah but these shops get huge discounts being wholesale buyers from the manufactures.

This shop could go to ECBlend & pay $2.50 (withouth S&H) for a 5ml bottle, then jack up the price. And that's not even getting a business discount.

My first setup was from a local shop (a tobacco & glass pipe shop ;) , that now also is trying to get into ecigs), 5ml = $10, 10 for charge cable, 10 for a knockoff stardust, 35 for a knockoff ego 650.
After that, I figured I can do better, found ECF and both laughed and kicked my self in the ... (I have long legs, lol)

Iv since went back there, and explained why he just can't be my go-to for any of this, and told him how much I spend on things, broke it down for him (I currently, now, have way more knowledge about PVs then he does) My Dilemma was I like local businesses, so I did some research into whole sale here and gave him a bunch of companies that he could deal with (all from here) since HE was paying $6ml for juice, that's crazy (if true) when he is buying hundreds of ml's. I understand they can't match online prices, wouldn't expect them to, but on the same note people turn to ecigs for two main reasons I think, healthier & PRICE. At his prices people would be less likely to start 'give it a try'

So I implore you, if its reasonable, educate your local B&M, some just dont know the facts, if we can all help them out in some way, these places have a better chance, meaning more vapors in the area, more people aware, wouldn't that be a good thing?

I would love to help educate some of the local B&M's around me, but it seems like every time I try to tell them what something is, they give me a "oh. well ok" phrase & go about themselves.

I totally agree with you though KraKsX.

That's why I said, 'if its reasonable' some people think they know because they are 'in the business' and don't wanna hear else wise, they deserve to fail, but others embrace the new knowledge = these are ones I would help.

There's another shop around me. This one is much more professional than the other B&M that I've mentioned.
The woman was actually asking me about her products & How-To's.

It felt good to educate someone who wants to be educated on something that requires more of it. :D

Purely rhetorical: Why is it some places can develop a reputation for such great customer service and, well, being so durned nice while doing it (For me that would be places & people like Vicki @ Cignot and Tony @ Liberty Flights) that people - like me - can't recommend them highly enough. And then there's this kind of place... Oh well. The e-cig industry is getting a bit crowded these days. Enough so that standing out as rude and arrogant is a sure fire way to weed your own business right out of the pack.
There are some very good e-vendors, but generally those where the owner deals directly with his customer.

The overwhelming majority I have found to be indifferent and unresponsive, and consider them as an industry the bottom-feeders of business people, and never look forward buying anything from them unless I have to. But, there are also many bright shining stars, and those will generally be the ones that rise to the top eventually.

It is in fact good business sense to buy low and sell high. Though in many cases how high can drive customers away, like we have seen here. But you should realize that if he buys a bottle for 2.50 from xyz liquid vendor then it has to sit in his store until someone buys it(and if no one buys it and it expires he just lost 2.50), he has to pay someone to sell it then has to pay tax on that sale and has to pay overhead for the store he sold that bottle in. The general idea of buying things en-mass is that 30%(or less) of the total purchase quantity will pay you back for the purchase. Example would be if you buy a pallet of widgets, there are 50 widgets on the pallet. Your goal should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 30% of that pallet covers the cost of the entire pallet.

Online vendors (in most cases) do not have any over head because they make this stuff at home. They in fact, can write off the expenses of running a business out of their home. The write off is merely a percentage of household expenses. if they use 1 room and it is 10% of the total size of their house then 10% of household expenses, heat, electric, internet etc... becomes a write off. Brick and mortar stores can do this as well but not to such an extent because the place they are using is only used for business.

I do not think the vendor mentioned by the OP are doing the right thing charging so much, nor were they treating a customer right. But i can see why they would charge so much.

For me that would be places & people like Vicki @ Cignot
Haven't met her, but I live near one of the Cignot shops and visit it once in a while.
I opted to carry some of their business cards to hand out to people who get interested in my PV
Especially if you won't even say if it's tobacco or not. I have no interest in 'bacco juice.
Ya, the reason I switched to PV's is to get away from tobacco flavor/smell

Also, when I first saw your nick I had to double check because for some reason my brain opted to switch the D and E around... Brain, wut wrong wit u?
