Just wondering if anyone knows of maybe a national chain store or something that carries the kanthal or nichrome wires for RBAs? I live in Denver, Colorado and I have had great success sourcing MOST things for DIY liquid and even wicking materials but I can not seem to find anywhere to buy wire.

My AGA-t2 arrives tomorrow and I plan on using the SS wire rope setup I recently learned about in this thread. I unfortunately didn't think to order extra wire which I now realize was a rookie mistake haha, I thought the 3 inches or so they send with it would be good to get started. I'm sure I will be needing more before I learn to build correctly :p

I understand there are numerous places online to get virtually lifetime supplies of resistance wire for dirt cheap, and that stands as my backup plan if I can't source it locally.

Thanks for any help!

I order from TEMCo Industrial Power Supply - I've purchased a bunch from them via eBay. Good prices and free and fast shipping. Their wire comes on a spool.

Yep. That's the place I get mine from. I wasn't sure if it was ok to post the link, since they aren't an ECF supplier.

You would think that, but unfortunately there isn't much here.

That's the truth. I did, however, find vaporleaf carries a few varieties of nichrome and kanthal wires on the website, I plan on stopping by there tomorrow since it is one of the few days they are listed as being open during the week. Here's to hoping it's all in stock!

Let me know what you think of the place. It would be nice to have a local place to do business.

Good place but bad hours! They do sell wire and wick. You can order online and pickup in the store recommended because the lines can get crazy due to hours.

That pretty much sums it up. I was in line for about 45 minutes just to pick up some SS mesh, kanthal wire, and an 18650 battery. They just make it a very personal shopping experience for every customer, which I really enjoyed but it does make for a long wait. Good selection and prices though.

OP was looking for local source for resistance wire. Find a hobby shop that caters to the Remote Control airplane hobbyists. They use hot nichrome wire as a sort of 'cheese cutter' to cut styrofoam blocks into airplane wings. May not be the most cost effective source, but you can usually find these shops within a reasonable distance to where you are.
