One of the many things this site will do is allow you to go as 'deep ' into vaping as you want. Much of the hobby is way too involved for me,but I do see how the science of DIY could be an effective avocation and hobby.

I must say that during my search for 'Heath effects ' of vaping , I was encouraged to read that a former US Surgeon General joined the Board of Directors for an eCig manufacture. He was a big advocate for the 2nd hand smoke argument and appears to see vaping as a 'lesser of evils '.

Good stuff here.

Congrats! From someone pretty new to vaping, it's easy to become overwhelmed with all of the terminology and gear and my god all of the juices that are out there! The good news is that there is also TONS of great info online (YouTube and of course e-cigarette-forum are awesome resources) and most of all the vaping community is amazing. I think the community itself is a big reason that vaping quickly becomes a hobby, rather than just a way to quit smoking.

I've tried cig-a-likes (the little batteries + cartridge that are pretty much the same size as a regular cigarette) in the past, but couldn't stick with them because of the hassle of changing batteries all the time, cartridges dying quickly, and never really getting a satisfying vape.

Now, I've been using an eGo w/ evod clearomizers for about two weeks and have absolutely no urge to have an analog. Actually I tried one recently (my wife still smokes) and it was disgusting. My eGo totally works for me. I hope you are as satisfied with whatever you are starting out with.
