i've just looked at the 510 mega battery. i'm new to vaping and already i'm over having to change batteries every hour or so. i was a heavy smoker, so i guess i can be considered a heavy vapor. the batteries are just not coping. i'm wondering if anyone can suggest a pv which will stand up to my needs? i'm not after anything particularly big in the physical sense, but something with good battery life, plenty of vapor and a good throat hit. i would really appreciate opinions, as well as a kick in the right direction as to where to make my purchase.....
being new to this, i'm still not sure what i'm really looking at and get myself easily confused.

thanks guys!

You can also buy the mega battery for your model, maybe even at the same place yougot your kit from. The mega batteries have a longer lasting life but the MODS are the ones that last a seriously long time. Protoge (mentioned above by frog) is one of those, as are things like bartleby, silver bullet etc.
Obviously the price of a mega battery is going to be cheaper than one of the others because while it lasts longer than a standard 510 battery its not 12 hours longer lol

Dang, I had a long reply typed out, but it got poofed. I'm not gonna type it all again, sorry. I'll just link to this thread and let it do the talking, even though I originally covered more than just this option.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/jantyusa/55242-janty-ego-video-review-parked-12-14-09-a.html

P.S. At the very end he compares the size of the Ego to what he calls the "Janty Dura" which is the same thing as your 510 with a mega battery. The mega will give you ~65% better battery life than you have now (adding ~1inch of length). You will get MUCH better battery life out of the Ego compared to the mega battery.

Sounds like to me you vape as much as I do (constantly) Usually on a mod battery (which is suppose to last up to 24 hours) I don't get more than 4 hours before the vapor and throat hit start to decline.

As far as the 510 batteries they do usually have to be recharged after about a hour. What I do to cut down on this is have at least 10-510 units working at the same time. When 5 of them need recharging I put them on my multicharger(which holds 5 batteries) and continue to use the other 5. When these need recharing I get my 5 charged ones so I am not up and down charging batteries constantly. This seems to work for me.

hi guys,

thanks again for your wonderful & speedy replies! i just looked at the janty ego and i have to say i don't think it's too big or blokey. not bad looking at all. i have a few ( too many) orders on the way at the moment, so should probably give the bank account a wee rest. but when i am ready, i think i may just get me one of those janty egos.
thanks again guys, i knew you'd help! :)

wenchy: So far as appearance is concerned ... I held out my hand with five different PVs in them to show off to two ladies I work with who are interested in vaping. The eGo/Tornado was their standout favorite (based solely on appearance). And, if you're happy with your 510 as long as the batteries hold out you'd probably really like it too, since it uses essentially the same vaporizer. The battery lasts me more than a day of vaping.

If you are handy with a soldering iron, you might want to check out the battery mod section of the forum.

I built one with off-the-shelf parts and do not have any battery problems now. I used to have 2 mega's and 4 regular 510 batteries to get me through a work day. Now I can use my box mod for a full weekend without changing a battery.

Not to say the items mentioned above are not good, they are from everything I have read. I'm a hopeless DIY'er. When I can do it, I hate to pay someone else to do it.

I recommend the Bartleby with a 510 atty. Bartleby: Bartleby

The 14500 battery lasts about 4 hours of chain vaping, or more, and the USB recharging (its also a PT) is very fast, and you can vape while it is plugged in. Gives more voltage on the heating coil than the regular 510 batts or the megas, so is significantly better vaping, and actually better for the atty. I have megas, and they last about 1.8x a regular batt. The Bartleby is $50, and built solidly and very professionally, and fits in the palm nicely. Has an on-off switch so you can put it in your pocket without it activating. I love it.

ooooh, so they use a lot of juice hey? i am already over having to top up my carts every half hour or so! i am becoming somewhat of a chain vaper, which probably isn't helping. i can't seem to find any filling that's gonna hold the juice for a decent length of time. i've tried the pyramid teabags, steel wool and have now resorted to cutting up my shower scrunchie! the steel wool seemed to hold juice the longest, but as of an hour ago, something has gone wrong both attys won't work. :(. they produce a small amount of vapor, not enough to inhale. sheesh, i'm having some dramas with this vaping business! LOL

Hi wenchy,

I use a Tornado/eGo - I don't find it to be a "juice-hog" any more than my regular 510 was. The eGo/Tornado IS a 510, the only difference is the battery and the cone that screws onto the battery over the atomizer.

*I* am the juice hog :) The Tornado uses the same cartridges and atomizers as my 510 and I consume the juice, not my PV.

I went with the Tornado/eGo because I loved my 510 but I have an erratic schedule and it wasn't always easy to be swapping out batteries. I decided it was worth buying the entire kit and I've been very happy with it. I can still use all of my 510 atomizers (I had collected quite a few), and I still use my 510 batteries from time to time - just because I have them, and I can :)

I'm a bit of a girly-girl and I like the way the Tornado fits in my hand.

I am definitely not ready for a "mod" or "learning to solder" - I just want simplicity and an easy progression as I learn what my needs are moving forward and how to get the most out of vaping :)

Good Luck! I am sure you will find what suits your wants and needs the best. Just take it slow and enjoy the process. I was so overwhelmed when I was brand new and asking questions - all of the differing advice and opinions can be scary. I had no idea why I should "go High Voltage!" or "you won't be happy unless you get a mod!" ... uh (no offense to anyone, honestly) - yeah I'm happy ... I just want to keep it simple.

remie,
thank you SO much for your advice. keeping it simple is exactly what i'm after!!! i am finding myself to be a bit of a juice hog too.
another (probably dumb) question if you don't mind....... are the ego janty and the tornado the same? if not, which is best and why? as i said in another post.... i'm still rather uneducated in the world of vaping and i'm using this forum to learn all i can and make informed decisions.
i really appreciate your input.... especially nice to hear from a girl who has similar needs to myself. thanks! :)

No worries wenchy! :)

The eGo and Tornado are the same unit. Janty sells the eGo and Totally Wicked sells the Tornado.

Check both websites for the prices, to see what they include in each kit and the warranty. Those are the only differences. (oh, and the branding - the eGo has Janty's logo and the Tornado has Totally Wicked's logo, neither one is obvious on the respective units.)

NO question is a dumb question! :) Asking is how we gather our information, it can be very confusing and overwhelming! I even thought I was making mistakes in the beginning because of all the conflicting advice. It's just a matter of getting comfortable and confident, this isn't quantum physics :)

Good Luck!! Let me know if you have any other questions - I am more than happy to help out a "vaping sister" :)
