I don't have the Nitecore D2/4 charger (I have an i4 though) so I can't be sure, but I seem to remember from the specs that the information shown is quite rudimentary. I have a Shoshine h2-v2 (one bay has given up after half a year's use though) that in addition to voltage and how long the battery's been charging shows how much mAh has been charged. Much more useful than the D2/4 in my opinion. I've also ordered an Opus diagnosing charger with much more features. In all honesty, I don't see much use in the D2/4's display, but perhaps someone who has it can enlighten us?

I have an i4 from illum I don't need the display of the D4. My batts go in the charger when the vape falls off and for me the i4 always starts charging them on the second bar. It has three bars to indicate charge status. This is on a mech and tells me I have never come remotely close to dangerously discharging a battery.

I like these chargers because they have auto shut-offs so you don't have to tend your batteries while they charge. It's a "smart charger" so in this sense a charger is not a charger because I used to have to keep an eye on my old trust fire charger.

I ended up with the D4. It was 7$ more than the I4, I said why not. Plus I used a 5% off coupon thus making is 2 dollars cheaper.

Oops - too late. I would have put in a vote for an Xtar or a Pila. Too many reports on ECF of Nitecore's failing, trashing batteries when they don't work right or arriving DOA. Apparently they don't have the best quality control. (Like if it fits in the box it ships.)

Rick is right on.

The display is just that, a display. The circuitry inside is what counts. The Xtar VP2 or the Pila are the most dependable, most recommended and safest that I know of for Lion batts.

I have both. Both have been great. I prefer the VP2 because it has a nice display and selectable charge input to account for different battery capacities. Also, the Pila has PITA spacers that need to be used for changing battery sizes (350, 490/500, 650). No need for those with the VP2.
