Sup Fellow Vapers -

so I'm considering trying a tank. Back when I was active in the community (ECF, VapeTV, ElixirTV etc) the most common tank was the MAP tank.

Has the tank 'scene' evolved? I remember leaking, wicking, and other issues which made me use Dual cartos exclusively.

What tank(s) do you recommend? Just got an email from Gotvapes about their Kranger Tank? That's chinese I reckon? Anyways, your help is greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about "tanks" or "clearomizers" the Kanger ProTank is a clearomizer. It is a bottom coil design. I really like mine.

Well clearomizers are technically tank systems. Any system which utilizes a plastic/metal/glass tank to hold the eliquid that has yet to make it to the heating device is a tank system. Some may disagree, but I think the OP hasn't been around for Vivi Novas or ProTanks, so I'm trying to demonstrate to him that carto-tanks are not the only type of tanks these days.

You could go for a "top-coil" clearomizer system, which has wicks that draw the juice up to the top of the device where the coil rests. The Vision Vivi Nova and Innokin iClear 30 are the two most popular top coil clearomizers on the market imo. When the tank is quarter empty, you usually tilt it to saturate the wicks near the coil for a better hit.

Or you could go for a bottom-coil clearomizer, such as the Kanger ProTank. The wick/coil are on the bottom of the device, which eliminates the need to occasionally tilt. However, it produces a 'colder' vape, as the coil is further away from the driptip.

There are plenty of high-quality cartotanks out there these days, I'm just not sure which they are because I stick with my clearos. I rebuild Vivi Novas and also have a ProTank that I will be rebuilding soon (I use hemp wicks rather than the default silica).

Oh are you in for treat! LOL There are sooooooo many tanks out there. Some have wicks (clearo tanks) some use cartos (carto tanks). The best carto tank is make from pyrex and uses a punched carto. The best clearo wick tank, well you get alot of opinions. To me clearo wick tanks are fiddly, but I just tried one I really like and that is Halo Triton, it is basically a clearo but not too fiddly. It works best when full but if you vape it down you have to use the swirl and twirl technique to keep the wicks wet which is pretty much a fact for top wicks. I have had no luck with bottom wicks. But there are tons out there! Have fun :) bnrk

I've written an article on the more common juice delivery devices used currently. It has descriptions of their build, pictures in use, and a video demonstration, including clearomizer type tanks and cartotanks. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

People have their preferences between string-wicked tanks (clearomizers and Vivi Nova tanks) and cartotanks, and the reasons are subjective. I prefer cartotanks. I've found they give better and more consistant flavor, are not position dependent. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3710-5-cartomizer-tank-setup.html

The ones with pyrex tubes are safe to use with all flavors of e-juice. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3733-6-something-safe-cinnamon-citrus-flavors.html

I recommend IBTanks cartotanks. These are pyrex tanks that are simple, elegant, durable, and yet inexpensive. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3318-3-ibtanked-pyrex-glass-tanks-review.html

You can view my collection of cartotanks here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/members/baditude-albums-pictures-my-setup.html

True, they are Clearo's, BUT vendors and users call then tanks, I have 2 screw tanks, they are clearos but sold as tanks. So I think the distinction is, if it has a wick, it is a clearo, then when people say tank, we at least know it is a clearo wick one :) LOL bnrk

clearo's and vivi's are not tanks!

Check out valleyvapes.com for some good carto tanks at a good price. Better get your order in quick tho, he's going on vacation May 1st.

I dig these tanks b/c they're highly customizable, right down to the color of the orings. I like the ones with a screw in the side for easy filling. And the biggest plus for me, the orings are very forgiving if your carto punch distortes the shape of the cartomizer. Damn near swore off carto tanks when i'd get the cap stuck on the carto and had to pull out a hammer to get it out. Haven't had any problems with that on valleyvapes tanks.

Boge F-16 Carto-Tank... too darn good. Throw it anyway u like - no leakage. And vapes like a ninja. Looks good too! Besides being dead cheap.

Bingo could not agree more, I have vivis, iclear 30, protank......I now use my f16s almost exclusively, they are an absolute steal in my opinion
