New to the forums, but not entirely new to vaping (just mostly)...

I purchase a blu starter kit a bit over a year ago. I didn't care for it. The only consistent with it was the inconsistent results. Little to no vapor, no throat hit, no satisfaction. One draw might be great, the next, nil. It has been frustrating to say the least. Needless to say, I gave up on it pretty quickly.

I'm tired of smelling like smoke. I'm tired of having to brave inclement/freezing/scorching weather just to get my "fix."

What I am looking for:
  • Good throat hit
  • Actual vapor to inhale
  • Consistency

Looks and size don't matter. It doesn't need to look like an analog. It could look like a flashlight or hockey puck for all I care. Actually, it would probably be better if it didn't look like an analog. I realized long ago that no one (except James Dean :2cool:) looks "cool" smoking a cigarette.

I, a humble newb, am asking for suggestions.

I always recommend "fat battery" mods like the Joye Ego/Riva/Inferno/Tornado... Great battery life, fairly easy to use/maintain, will keep you happy for a while if you like vaping (which you probably will). $60-$80 will get you a nice starter kit (2 batteries, 2 attys, charger, etc.). Consistency is all about juice delivery. I like throat hit, vapor, and consistency, too... so I drip. What do you need to drip?

1) a battery (Ego will work fine)
2) a drip atty (any non-tank atomizer can become a drip atty... I suggest "de-wicking" [a quick search will give you plenty of information on this]
3) a drip tip (replaces your foam-filled cartridge with a tip that allows you to drip directly onto your atty)
4) your favorite juice

Dripping is not extremely convenient, but I've been doing it exclusively for months and its very manageable.

To get the right amount of throat hit and vapor, you'll need to mess with atomizer resistances. I've done a lot of work with this, and I can tell you from my experience that low-resistance 306 atomizers work wonders. 306s are compatible with 510 batteries... they'll screw right on!

Avidvaper.com sells 2x306 atomizers + 1 drip tip for $20...

If you buy that atty combo pack, all you would need is a nice battery that would accept 510-threaded atomizers (the Ego would work here). If money isnt a big deal, you could jump right into a mod that will have better battery life and better output voltage that will really enhance your vaping experience. Dont get frustrated, dont give up... after a little research and trial-and-error, I was able to find extremely consistent vapes with huge clouds of vapor, nasty throat hits, and tons of flavor! PM me if you have any more questions!

Thats another one of the "fat battery" 510 mods... that will work well! It's the bigger version (900 mah), so the battery will last a while... but it is a bit longer!

It's not real popular but, the e-power is coming along. You might want to look at it. It's like an eGo or Riva but, it uses a generic battery. Longer battery life and cheaper to replace or buy extras. It's a little bigger around than the eGo though. You can get it at madvapes there are a couple video reviews up on youtube as well.

I've been "rolling" my own smokes for a few years (more like stuffing, but whatever). Definitely not convenient, but it saves me a bit of money. Dripping sounds less time consuming than DIY smokes, and I'm open to all avenues at this point. I'm going to go with the kit Sugar_and_Spice recommended, but with the attys instead of cartos so that I can drip. I can always switch to cartos later if I don't care for the hassle of dripping.

Thank you for your suggestions.

You'll want to make some decisions on juices too. Juices are usually either made from PG (Propylene Glycol) or VG (Vegetable Glycerin) or some mixture of the two. As a general rule of thumb, PG is going to give you the throat hit while VG is going to give you more vapor. So you'll want to play with ratios until you've found the right quality of vapor for you.

As someone who used to roll their own as well, I can concur that dripping is less time consuming. Sounds like you made a good choice in your second PV. But as Chornbro recommended, also pick up a LR 306 atomizer and drip tip when you get a chance. It will work on your new PV and has a stronger kick to it if for whatever reason you feel the vapor off your standard atomizers are lacking.

I'm totally new at vaping but did have a bit of help from here and friends. Halo and Wicked Vapor are win so far ... I received an order from Viking Vapor and there must be something that went horribly wrong with the order. It's like vaping tastless perfume... I'm going to contact them and see if they had a bad batch or something. I just can't see anyone smoking the juice I got .. and sad to say I ordered 10 bottles ... all of them are similar ... heavy perfume tastless.

I really like Altsmokes BB... It's all I am using now, and I bought an ac adapter from Radioshack and have high voltage vaping going at 5v and it's is AMAZING! With the AC adapter there is no need for batteries since it plugs into the wall, no need for low resistance attys since I am already high voltage vaping. I even have a box in my car that allows me to plug in my ac adapter and this box plugs into my cig lighter so I can high voltage vape on the go. I work from home, so I don't need much mobility except in my car. I like Nhaler's Grape Ape at 24 mg or Flavorshack's High 30-36 Strawberry Champagne. These are my two favorite juices I have found so ... Good luck to you :)

I plan on getting a LR 306 atty and drip tip with my next order. While my wife is glad I'm quitting analogs, she would rather I didn't spend a boatload of cash to do so. :)

Damn... I just placed an order with him. 5 - 7.5 mL bottles to try out. Hopefully I don't have the same issue, but at least I got the smaller bottles to start out and am only out about $20.

Usually when they have that perfume taste that means it is freshly made......they need to steep....take both lids off and place in a dark cool place , away from children and pets.......sometimes, it takes only 24 hrs....and sometimes up to 2 weeks.......it needs time for the flavors to blend.......good luck...

What I am looking for:
  • Good throat hit
  • Actual vapor to inhale
  • Consistency

The first 2 are easy, an eGo with a good size battery will give you those.

The 3rd...

The only really really good consistency I have ever had vaping is dripping, same good hit, every time

I don’t drip usually, but I will admit that dripping will give you the consistency you are looking for.

I use a large cylinder LR atomizer and mega cartridge for the convenience of it… and the consistency is better than other things I have tried…. Except dripping… that was the most consistent.

I started with a 901 mini, but couldn't stand it. Just got my first Screwdriver mod with MAP tank and LOVE it! The difference is incredible! Honestly, and big battery mod with a good size tank would probably do it for you. Personally, I'm saving up for the ProVari, I would love to try to variable voltage mod and see how that is, problem is, the prices are so high! Especially if you just want to try something out. Do what I do, read these forums like crazy!

Go-Go.

Massive TH (I vape 24mg)
Lots of vapour (I vape 70/30 PG/VG)
Consistent hit after hit.

3ml cartos (that last all day instead of a few hours)
1300mAh batteries (for days of use instead of hours)
Well built horizontal coil cartos (that last weeks instead of days)

And most importantly, no "carto filler" taste, just a great tasting, consistent, no muss, no fuss, all day vape!

I too would recommend the Go-Go or the new Echo. They both come with 3 ml cartos and 1300 Batteries. The main difference is the Echo is an automatic battery and more like puffing on a cigarette and you can use it when your hands are busy. You can get the Go-Go at Nhaler and Cigeasy for 60.00. You can get the Echo at Echo Series | Cropduster901.com for 50.00 or this kit with a 650 and 1300 battery for 43.00 at http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...cho-starter-kit-sale-43-00-a.html#post3169667
