I've been vaping for just over a year now and as much as I have preferred it to analogues at times, I find myself going back because my ecigs have been so inconsistent. I always blame it on the atomizers not working properly but I find it hard to believe that all the ones I've purchased have not been satisfactory. Anyway I think now it's time to upgrade my pv itself, for the longest time I used the Magma by volcano, I liked it because it hit okay and still looked like a cigarette. I've tried the tankomizers but it tasted like plastic no matter what I did, though the hit was definitely better. Now I use the (e-go) Inferno with a lr 510 atty but it's still not doing it for me. I need a mule kick to my throat to stay with ecigs solely. Anyway here's my question:

What's a good mod for th? If voltage is all that really matters, I've been considering a Tekk mod from Vaperdepot.com once they're in stock. Good site? I've never purchased from them before.

Would you recommend something else?

Also what's a good reliable atty? I've never used anything other than 510, could this be my problem? If not what are the best 510s to get? I like LR for the bigger hit but on a higher voltage will that be a problem?

I appreciate any help you guys can give me. Also I'd love to hear of any tobacco / menthol / personal favorite juices of yours. I prefer tobacco tastes but I'm willing to try anything if it gives a good hit. I use dekang now because I like the pg TH but backwoods brew tastes so much better. Casablanca is heavenly, I think I need a more powerful unit to get a good hit off of it though.

Consistency is my biggest issue with ecigs and I'd love to fix that first and foremost. Again I welcome any and all responses as I'd really like to find a reliable ecig I can use for good to quit analogues. I know I wrote a lot but it's everything I've been dying to say, until now I've only read the forums and never posted =P

Sorry to add more to that wall-o-text but I forgot to mention I've also been interested in the new lavatube if anyone has experience with that. I have gone with Volcano all along (except Blu for like the first week but we'll forget about that) and maybe I should stay with them / maybe I should switch. I'm not sure. I've never disliked their products but something about an American modded Tekk mod calls to me rather than Chinese made mod (I'm guessing it is judging by the rest of their products I doubt they make them in house). So VV vs Made in USA. I don't think I could find a VV tekk anywhere anymore...

Dripper exclusive...

Carts had awful consistency
Tank tasted like plastic no matter what
Cartomizers never hit much for me (dud pack?) / pain to fill

Dripping is just the most consistent way of vaping I could find. I've done so much trial and error with lots of error lol. Tons of stuff sitting around that I don't use now. Basically all Volcano products... no problem with them really just couldn't find the sweet spot with me.

So do you need an adaptor for 306 models? I don't know much about other attys, I've only used 510s. I've even bought 510s from Volcano that did not thread in correctly to my magma, probably just because they're older batts but I don't want that to happen again... like I said lots of trials many errors lol.

I'll definitely look into those if the atty that comes with the lavatube isn't working for me. Gotta write those down lol thanks

btw I noticed you're a fellow M---hole, have you found any places that sell ecig paraphernalia? I've visited headlines in Nashua a few times for overpriced dekang when I'm in need of some juice pronto, but no really decent stores. Also their 510 attys are at a 100% mark up ...!

I would look into a mod that can stack 2 batteries and go for 7.4v vaping first, then if that is too much 6v. I love 7.4 v, especially with the weekend "sodas". Depends on what you are willing to spend to try it first, there are inexpensive mods, and very expensive mods. You would want a 5ohm atty for this.

Forgot to add for 7.4v you would use to 18350s, for 6v you would use 2 cr123s.

the 306 has the same threads as a 510 so you'll be fine. I rather order everything I need online and if you ever need anything asap there's always someone (me) that would hook you up. :)

I would suggest an all mechanical mod such as the Precise Plus - P18 or SS GGTS. Both can take you up to 6V. Both will accept the upcoming VV drop in module - The Kick. No electronics in either to go bad. Both lifetime guaranteed.

I would also suggest you look into rebuilable atomizers such as the Bulli A-2 or Odysseus. The Odysseus is built for the GGTS and will also take regular atomizers besides being rebuilable. The Bulli A-2 is great for dripping. I use that w/2.6 coil @ 6V. Most juices taste better, hits hard and lots of vapor. Next year Imeo comes out w/his VV module for the GGTS. Just a few suggestions for you.

I was feeling the same as you a couple days ago so I might trow in my advise too I guess. First off, mods are way too expensive to just "try" one out so I would suggest trying different atties to start. I personally went from LR510 dripping to 1.5omhs Dual Coils cartos, trying many things in between (over a year of trying here and there). First time trying a cartomizer was a kr808 I think (first runs) and I hated them. I've then tried a bloog/volt which surprised me and finally gave in to those DCCs everyones talking about. Bought a five pack, first one was a dud I think cause it didn't impress me. Second one kicked my throat in and made me cough and laugh lol.

Long story short, I've found my new favorite. Next step is finding a mod that fits my budget an expectations. I currently use a BB with a AW 14500 high drain and it works great but doesn't last very long. So I went ahead and purshased a Lavatube, and a 10$ tank to try and get these DCCs to last longer. That's very shortly the steps I took to validate my spending and to where I'm 99% sure will get me off analogs for good. I want it too hit hard, cost less $ to maintain (in the long run at least) and to last me all day. I know how frustrating it is to spend money on vaping rig and having it be "inconsistent" as you said, so don't go spending a ton on a mod or 60$ atty your not even sure will work out for you before you've tried all the cheap options. (Ditto on the cisco spec 306s)

As for my decision on buying the Lavatube, even though dual coils can only be run at 3.8 volts, its perfect for me, and the Lavatube will keep that voltage at a steady 3.8 volts without any drop offs or "inconsistent" puffs. I felt like sharing this cause I did hate cartos before I tried these and really, I've smoked maybe 4 cigs in 5 days now (blame the 14500 XD). Good luck, hope you find something too.

I recommend a Reo from Reomods.com I have 2 a Grand and a mini and run the grand at 5v w/ 2.0 boge cartos and the mini at 6v w/ 3.0 boge cartos both hit like cannons and since they're both bottom feeders and suuuuper simple I just slap a carto on them dry hit while squeezing the bottle and they're ready to go

The Tekk mod is indeed a cool device, but it's not without problems. The biggest problem I found is that juice leaks inside the body like nobody's business. This necessitates opening the body and cleaning out the juice frequently. Since everything is packed so tightly inside, it's a rather fiddly process to reassemble it. I ended up frying mine when I didn't put it back together carefully enough and causing an internal short.

If you ever find yourself over dripping, I'd stay away from the Tekk mod, or at least use some type of drip shield.

I second the IMR battery, LR atty combo. If you want to try it on the cheap, grab a box mod for $20, a couple of AW IMR 14500 batteries, and the 1.5 ohm atty of your choice (I like Cisco 306's).

You might also find the following thread helpful in understanding how voltage and resistance affect performance.

you asked about the lavatube and being the big lava fangirl, i wanna jump in here. I love it! You can go from 3 volts to 6 volts by just pushing the little buttons up or down. As Woozzaa said above, if you use DC, the Lavatube will adjust itself down so you cannot go to higher voltages with that. Same with LR stuff, it will adjust itself down. I use 2.4-2.6 ohm clearomizers so that i can go to higher voltages and i love that. I thought before I got it that i would be wanting to do the highest possible voltage all the time and in reality I have only done 6 volts once just to try it out. Its kinda too much for me way up there. But thats the beauty of VV, you can go wherever you want!

Thanks for all the input guys, guess I'll go with the lavatube rather than the Tekk, I do tend to over drip although that's mostly when I'm not getting a hit and I assume I've run dry. Can't wait to try out the lavatube. Probably going to wait a bit though because I just bought a ton of stuff for xmas, so don't expect any feedback just yet!

Thanks for all the input guys.....

Even though you had a not-so-good experience with cartos, I would suggest you try the DCC's. I was a dedicated dripper until I tried them. They still have their weaknesses, but overall I would rather top-off every now and a again than all day long.

...guess I'll go with the lavatube ...
Just got my LT yesterday, and like dotma wrote, it's great with 2.4 to 2.6 ohm Fluxomizers (same as clearomizers, but with unbreakable tube); flavorful, clean taste and coils clean-up really well. I've only lost ONE in 6 weeks, and it's as good (or better) than dripping IMHO.

Regardless of what you get, please tell us all about it! :)
