Hey guys, so some of you might have seen earlier that I was looking into getting the Prodigy 3.1 but I think I've changed my mind to VV. So I started shopping around and while I would love to invest in the ProVari I just can't afford it, I would like to avoid box mods so really the only choice I have left is the Lavatube, it seems like a lot of people here are enjoying it so I figure I might as well make the switch.

However, I also usually am just an avid dripper, I had a bad experience with cartos when I started with the V2 cigs and couldn't stand them, probably because their flavors are terrible but anywho.. I see a lot of people that use the lavatube have been using tanks and the such, so I'm kinda looking for some good advice on which tanks are good, and if there are particular cartos that I need to use with these tanks, I'm aware they have to be slotted but I'm fully aware of how to punch them myself, either with a nail or with a saddle valve.

Also is there certain mixture of pg vs vg that I need to use in juices for cartos? usually i'm around the 60 VG 40 PG area, will that wick too slowly?

Any advice is well appreciated, thanks guys!

I have been using my LavaTubes now for over a month, and I have really been enjoying them. Inexpensive, and they just work. I cannot believe that I didn't go to a VV device earlier. I just bought the silver LavaTube a week ago, and I can't say enough of how awesome the silver one looks. IMHO, I think you will thoroughly enjoy it.

I have been using Volcano's tube tank on mine right now. Which is basically just a smoktech tank. Volcano does do a little tinkering with their products to improve upon the designs. And they just look nice on the LT. I have not had any leaking issues with mine, and there hasn't been any slippage on the carto either. The smoktech cartos fit nice and snug. My current Smoktech carto is now going on 2 weeks. I'm still getting great vapor, TH, and flavor. Madvapes has a nice variety of Smoktech cartos.

The only other tanks I would suggest, which is also of good quality and work is the Chibi and Big Daddy, and Little Mama tanks. Boge cartos are actually excellent too. I don't really lean towards the Smoktech or Boge cartos, as I feel they both work and perform well.

The only advice really that i can give that has really increased the longevity of my cartos, is keep them wet! Top off after a good nights rest, or when you haven't used one in a while, and top off a couple of times through out the day to keep the top portion of the carto saturated. I have used everything between 100% PG, to 50VG/50PG, and have not had any wicking issues, even with the small prepunched hole on the Smoktech cartos.

Enjoy your new LT if you choose to buy one. Keep working on your tanks/cartos and they WILL work for you. :)

I don't understand this whole slotting thing. I will be buying a Lavatube as soon as kits are back in stock. If I plan to just use it with cartos do I have to know about this whole slotting, punching stuff?
I'm working on getting a Co-op approved for the Mini Lavatube. I don't know if you'd be interested. Once I get the okay from the moderator check it out.

Slotting, punching and the like are only for if you are using your cartomizer in a tank. Otherwise just fill your carto, screw it on and dial in your preferred voltage. Easy peezy.

Yeah Mikes on the money with that one.. Also if you're going to go with a tank, The best tanks are the. Hand made J-Tankss from Electronicstix (in my opinion). I've tried pretty much all of them at one point and the venerable. J-Tank is still tops (the 3 ml fits and looks perfect on the LT too), and they use standard size carto's like Boge 2 ohm that you can buy pre-punched. If you like DCC's they sell a dual coil "shorty" (standard size LoL!!).. You can always pick up a dual coil Smok 4 ml tank for a sleek look later down the road but keep in mind Dual coils on ANY 3.7 volt or VV will kill your battery life by 50%...

Congrats on looking into Lavatube; I love mine. I, too, use the Tube Tank from Volcano (a 7mL and 4mL one) that was mentioned, and I buy empty 3.0 ohm XL Boges or 3.0 XL Smoktechs. Volcano just started carrying Smoktechs at our mall, so I picked those up while waiting on VaporBeast to get the 50-pack deal of XL Boges. I use 80/20 pg/vg or 100 pg, so I can't help with that, but you can slot, which I let my bf do, or make the existing hole bigger for better flow. Topping off is always good, too, even though it doesn't *seem* necessary with a tank. Make sure you get 3.0 or 3.2 ohm and not 1.7 or 2.0 ohm. I read of someone using 4.0 but I didn't even know those existed! Good luck!
